It’s more expensive than milk chocolate but it did taste good.

All the far distant past so I’m no position to engineer another look at the proposition.

I'm going to be really annoying and philosophical about today. We may have all but lost 7th, but we've also guaranteed a finish of 11th or higher with Palace drawing - that is really good going considering what was expected by most at the start of the season.
This week has been tough to take, when you consider that 7th would have probably been ours with two good performances, but look at the season as a whole, not just this week. Plenty of murmurings of "this player doesn't care" etc., on the contrary I think this group of players has cared more than any in recent memory. Whatever happens between now and the end of the season doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme - what matters is how we take the potential of this club and improve on it going forward, so that challenging for Europe and trophies isn't just a one-off.

    Agreed.

Just say how much you are enjoying Javi’s brand of open football, self evidently, & generally make light of the situation.

I must be in the minority but thought Pereyra was instrumental in a lot of the of the good football we played today, one of his better performances .

Agree he does bottle out of challenges and don’t like that aspect to his game. He has got hat moment of magic in him, but I don’t think he hasn’t really made a match winning contribution in the whole 2nd half of the season ( palace excluded) so If we could replace him with a talented player I wouldn’t be overly upset if he left in the summer .

The only feel good upbeat elton john song i can think of is rocketman. You may as well play candle in the wind.

I was pissed off at 5pm today, but a couple of hours later I'm ok. Looking forward to chelsea away and west ham and that other game and next season. Theres a few players in the squad who simply wont be here next season and I think we could persuade GD and or AD to stay at least until Jan. Add a proper decent forward and a commanding centre half and we'd look like a push for 7th again. Wolves shmolves. They still have not got over losing in the semi, yet its taken me 2 hours. Haha.

I really prefer watching this Watford team away from home. At Vicarage Road the build-up to attacks is often so slow and apparently has to begin with several meaningless passes around the back four. Away they seem much more purposeful. Today was a particularly bad example. From the kick-off Watford took 42 seconds to get the ball over the halfway line and then immediately lost possession. This set the tone for the afternoon and only in the period after the equaliser was the tempo sufficiently high. Otherwise Wolves were allowed to be very comfortable. A shame. We could have done better, even without Deeney.

When Z Cars was introduced at Vicarage Road in October 1963 we beat C Palace and L*t*n at home in the space of 5 days. This was the start of a 29-game unbeaten home run, not losing at home again until December 1964.
Perhaps what we are seeing is a reverse of that now it's been dropped? If so we wont win at home again until around the very end of next season.. or possibly in the Championship the season after.

    You have been warned.

I thought he was good today. Always emerges with the ball at his feet, he has fantastic close control.

Him and Delo will always shirk a challenge and will never win a header - that’s not their game.

At times it looks like we expect the player on the ball to do too much. Even with two or three men on them we don’t go to support him.

Today showed (as if we needed any reminding) we're pretty toothless up front. Deeney papers over a lot of the cracks with his ability to battle and hold up the ball and bringing other into play, but without him our attacks are blunt. We have players who try to run past too many players, and inevitably end up losing it. Others are willing runners but lack any technical ability.

Deeney ties in the abilities of Pereyra, Deulofeu and Gray nicely, but without him, it all fails. We do not have anyone who is anywhere close to Deeney's level and when he's not playing it really shows. It's a shame Success has not taken his opportunity. He's not the answer, even as back up.

The way Jimenez tucked his header away, would be beyond any of our players. We've got no one who can head the ball. Even Deeney is poor at this. Corners and crosses carry no threat to even an average defence.

We are where we are, but it's clear investment is needed in two crucial areas of the team.

Why we are doing so well, is down to the Doucoure-Capoue combo, which is extremely effective. This partnership is one of the best in the Premier League.

    Welcome back Malteser.
I agree we’re off the boil as minds are at Wembley.
    But it will change.

I think the final will be the showcase for so many of our players. If Doucs and Bobby and Delia want to move to bigger clubs this game is their chance to shine in a big personal advert.
    Nothing to lose.
We’re expected to be soundly beaten.
Gracia will pick the right tactics and those who have fEcked up lately will see it as their big chance to make amends and go the extra mile.

I had a really bad feeling about the Wolfs game and no surprise we lost.
But come 18th May, my glass will change from half empty working man’s £2/pint to the half full £5.70/Wembley pint.

He seems to have a freer role now, sometimes popping up on the right.

He comes across as a good man but maybe Del & Bobby in the same team is too much for us.

Personally, I'd prefer a midfielder who doesn't crap his designer underwear at the first sign of a 50/50 challenge...a player with cojones goes into that challenge and they don't score the first goal.

No complaints, all our own fault. If you don't take your chances, if you defend badly, if your discipline lets you down, if you make horrific errors, if you switch off, if you don't an equal amount of effort in, you lose games.

The entire defence sh!t out & bottled it for the 1st, Javi got the Hughes substitution wrong ( his got 99% of things right this season, so can afford 1 mistake ) the defence fell asleep and Foster fooked up for the 2nd.

No one to blame but ourselves

The cup run has affected us. Thread derailment is at an all time low.

Hopefully the Penguins drift will change this.

We can laugh at Wolfs next season as they struggle in Europe and try to avoid relegation.

Agree totally about commitment of players this season. It was so different a couple of years back, and maybe it just wasn't the players. I think I've removed a large part of the time with Mazzarri from my memory - apart from certain one off games. I actually feel better about things today for being on this forum tonight. Thanks all.

    Frustrating result.

It’s gutting to think that a few games ago 7th place was in our hands and it now feels like we’ve given it to the newly promoted, media-darling team. You’d think it would hurt less to give it to a more established Premier League team but we've had also beef with the other, more established Premier League contenders Everton and Leicester.

As has been said, today was the Wolveses cup final. As displayed by their fans cheering each air punch from their manager after the final whistle and their chanting outside the ground afterwards.

It’s not over yet and I’d settle for winning the cup via a penalty or City own goal with 80 minutes of resolute defending in the worst cup final ever. We’d win a trophy and steal the European slot.

    We’re still standing.

‘You’re gonna win fck all’ they chanted. Well, I suppose if you don’t count the game against you at the Moulinex stadium and that important one at Wembley, I suppose you have a point.

Not enough chanting about crying at Wembley or 2-0 and you fcked it up from us today.

    Too polite.

Wolves fans are like kids high on sweets. They just can't handle winning matches, they get far too excited and this shows in being bad winners and obnoxious behaviour. Thank god we beat them at Wembley. Walking out of that ground into cocky Wolves fans on mass would have been unbearable.

I was genuinely convinced we would win that game today. Wolves really are not that special at all, and up until the horrendous flap from Foster they looked more than happy with a point. Its sad to see our season peter out this way, where massive individual errors are gifting points to the opposition rather than them being better than us. When was the last time a team beat us by playing better better football and actually being better than us over the 90 minutes. I hate to say it, and i hate to blame one player over than others, but if Troy doesn't go charging through the Arsenal player giving the linesman the chance to send him off, we are far better off from the four games he has missed. Never underestimate the effect of playing 80 minutes with 10 men has had on fitness levels as well. I'm not a huge Deeney fan, but his rush of blood could not have come at a worse time. Deeney not getting sent off I reckon would have seen us into 7th.

seeing today makes me realise exactly how amazing it is that we are in a cup final and were a gnat's hair away from 7th.

Mariappa, Cathcart and Kabasele are not top 10 defenders. Gray scores goles, but he's limited. Kiko and Janmaat both are hugely inconsistent.

Foster has been great but has made some catastrophic errors of late.

This side has two or three players who on their day can look like world beaters, but can also be anonymous.

It's been a good run for a team tipped for relegation. Let's not get sour, especially when we've got a final to look forward to

That wasn't even the only dodgy moment from Foster during the game. He just got away with the others. Doherty should have netted long before their second after a terrible Foster punch, but he fluffed his kick completely with the goal gaping and Foster stranded.

He also rushed out when Kabasele was dealing with a high ball. He was left in no man's land after that and luckily the ball was cleared.

It's one of Foster's strengths and weaknesses. He comes rushing out a lot. When he does that, it's a gamble. Sometimes he makes the save and it looks like brilliant and positive keeping, other times he sells himself short.

The second goal was a bad one. He lost the flight of the ball completely. It's not the first time he's done this, but he does so many good things that mistakes should not be damned too much. I think he's lost a bit of concentration and has made some bad decisions recently and has been punished for it.

He's probably made more mistakes this season, than Gomes has in his entire Watford career. Having said that, he's still had a brilliant season, and is a key reason why we've picked up so many points.

There are not many keepers who can make the reaction saves he makes. He's extremely positive as a keeper, and I like this trait, even if it does cost goals at times. I think Gomes is a safer pair of hands with the ball in the air though. Gomes commands his area better and is brilliant at taking crosses. He rarely makes errors in this part of his game. Foster's reactions are far superior though, so this is why he's the number one.

I've got a real dislike for the Wolves fans now. They are a vile bunch. Remember Nick Cruwys. They even spat in Graham Taylor's face when he was their manager. Standing above the Watford fans at Wembley goading after 1-0 and 2-0 up.

Before this season, I had a totally different impression of them. I thought they had a great club and were pretty decent by and large. But they are not. They are just a bunch of gob*****s.

The OTT celebrations today, singing about the European tour. I really want them to fail. Burn me at the stake, but if we can't beat City, then I'd much prefer Everton or Leicester to qualify.

They are completely classless. They don't know how to celebrate. All they want to do is rub your noses in it whenever they can. I think they are the worst fans in the Premier League, bar none.
