I keep remembering I'm going later and my heart sinks. The kids only want to go because they like an evening game and all three of us expect nothing more than a comprehensive Chelsea victory. If I hadn't been to Leicester on Sunday, I might have felt more optimistic but it just feels like a pointless drag knowing that not only is our goal threat reduced, but that we have the Keystone Cops at the back. Not sure when I last felt this uninspired about going to a game, if ever. I know I don't have to go, just sort of feel obliged.
Sometimes these games shock everyone. I remeber when we beat Liverpool 3-0 I give my ticket to my brother and decided to do some over time at work instead. Although I also went to Leicester and witnessed Baachman Troost and not to mention Massina who's performance resembled a 3 year old playing Fifa. Actually come to think of it I am also dreading it.
I think the good thing about tonight is that once Chelsea are 3 or 4 up they'll probably just sit back and conserve themselves for their busy schedule. If they could do it in the first 15/20 minutes rather than dragging it out that would be helpful.
This feels like one of those games where we make a spirited opening, last about 25-30 mins and then give away yet another silly, avoidable goal. Then look ponderous about how to get back into it, as Chelsea settle into 2nd gear and add a further goal or two in the second half. 0-3

In a vain attempt to secure something,I've adopted my Man U approach and given my seat to Tennis Dave. Hopefully it will work again but I'm not confident.
Our first game in the Prem against Chelsea was the memorable 1-0 win, with Allan Smart scoring the goal and new record signing Nordin Wooter providing the assist. And this was done with the worst Watford side to play in the Prem. Although this game was just before my time as a Watford fan, it's made me think we always have a chance of getting something against Chelsea, and indeed a number of games with them have been close, exciting affairs, but since then we only have the 4-1 win in Gracia's first home game, a few draws and many defeats. Our side has a much better chance of staying up than the 1999/00 one (although it's quite likely to go down with all these injuries and poor back-ups) but conversely the difference in quality between this Chelsea team and the 1999/00 one is considerably greater than the difference between ours and the one from 1999/00, plus they have a far better manager who unlike Vialli won't allow them to become complacent. But I live in hope, if only because of that freak result against Liverpool.
Just think, in just over 3 days from now this run of nightmare fixtures will be behind us and we can go back to being outplayed by the bottom-half dross again. Happy days.
After Saturday we go back to just having our hopes crushed as opposed to nuked over the next 2 games.
Would anyone dispute my assertion that this is the most difficult home league fixture Watford have had in the last 30 years (if not ever)? The closest I can think was playing a Liverpool side that had won 17 on the trot and we know how that ended. Believe!
Hope whoever scoops up my season ticket seat for this enjoys the show. Rather them than me. Ditto for the game on Saturday, which I am also swerving.
I’m not looking forward to this, however king has had 5 this season already, more than capable of scoring(and in fact for all Dennis and sarrs ability, king knows how to be in the right place at the right time - something we haven’t had for a long time) JP and Hernández have skill but will need to be playing their game of the season oh and we need to keep the ball in the Chelsea half and nowhere near our defence
I'm going to game on Saturday. I'm going to make it worthwhile by having Veggie Sausages, Mash and Peas in a pub before the game, this is will be the highlight of my day.

Thought I would put some positivity on here. 2-1 Watford tonight. That's my nephews prediction anyway. I laughed at him and said I would buy him the full kit for Xmas if he is right.
With everyone fit I'd probably go along thinking we'll get beat but with the Liverpool win from two seasons ago in the back of my mind. Now I'm quite content going along to watch some good football as Chelsea put any number of goals past us.
Gutted, I normally watch Watford at my Dad's. He has covid so I'll be watching Corrie with the wife instead, getting updates on the BBC website.
