Yep. Sarr is a very good player at Champ level. I wouldn't pay more than 7 or 8m for him as a Prem squad player.
I tell you what, though, teams are never more dangerous than when they're on this sort of run. Plus Grandpa Roy has extra motivation next week to beat Crystal Palace because it's his old club and the boys will be fired up to show Will Hughes what he's been missing this season. Also, Palace have won at the death today and so in football you can never count out the possibility of them being complacent next week and slipping to an unlucky 6-0 win against a resurgent Hornets who have everything to prove. In a way the pressure is totally off us and this is exactly the sort of result that happen once in a million times and as it hasn't happened for more than 999,990 times suddenly it looks not just possible but probable. And if it does happen, we will then be on a roll against Everton and so you can't discount the possibility of back-to-back 6-0 wins to give our goal difference a much healthier look going into the game against Leicester, who might have their minds on a European final by then, who knows. Then, we go to Stamford Bridge on the final day on a real high and as we haven't won there since 1986 you have to accept that run has to end some time... So you can see it's not over until it's over.
Decent performance in the first half, shame to undo it with such an appalling second. We were dropping deeper and deeper, the Burnley goals were inevitable and Hodgson did nothing to prevent them. Pedro was a menace and was unlucky not to get a goal (or at least win a penalty). Foster, although s*** normally, was pretty good today. I don’t blame him for either goal and we would’ve lost by more if it weren’t for him. Sarr utterly anonymous again. If Hogdson ever made subs I would’ve assumed Ismaila had been replaced at HT. Kucka tried hard and put in some nice fouls. Wouldn’t mind him as a squad player next season (but please don’t let him shoot). Louza frustrates me because he’s almost what we need in midfield except he gives the ball away needlessly a handful of times every game, which is not what you want from a #6.
Didn’t watch the game, because I just didn’t want to repeat the torture. Did the grocery shopping instead. My son did and he is totally pissed off. Why are we doing this to ourselves? He is not impressed with Sarr (not to mention the late concession of goals). 11 home defeats in a row. A record for the top division. Shameful.
The record consecutive home losses from this season will stand for decades, possibly forever. That's how much of a joke this club is right now.
I actually laughed when the second goal went in. I knew we would mess it up, and in classic Watford fashion we did. Have to say, the cross for the first goal was sensational and you cannot really blame Foster as the attempt to win the ball back was nowhere but he had no chance. Awful defending for the winner though, as usual. That has to wrap it up then surely. Lose or draw at Palarse and we can look forward to that big R next to our name in the table. I would probably change it to SBJ = "SPINELESS BOTTLE JOBS". I am glad we know one thing from today, even when we score from a piece of good fortune - we can still find a way to not score again or look like scoring. Duxbury is a tool and needs booting, half/over half of this squad needs binning and we need to get a new plan next season. I wrote this season off when we lost to Norwich, the wins over Villa and Southampton just papered over the gaping cracks. Stadium was more or less empty approaching FT and fair play to the fans. Four games left, it's a shame two of them are at home. Am I right in hearing we have set another record today? Most consecutive home defeats in a season by any club? Wow. Shame they don't give out trophies for that one.
Remember everyone it could be worse, AFC Wimbledon were relegated today so we’re doing better than them.
Disagree. The club shouldn’t be buying players who can only play 45-60 mins in the Premier League. Hodgson is a symptom. Not the cause. Moreover, I’m happy with his management today - feels like he was purposely exposing the squad Gino has handcrafted.
Best result of the season. One step closer to Everton coming down. Good work from Roy and the boys to leave it late and make it that more deflating for the “if we want him we’ll take him” brigade. COYH
He was shyte today and he’s barely trying. He might be average full stop, what’s he good at? Running fast? His close control is horrific. He scored 13 goals in The Championship, Billy Sharp literally has a better record this season. Performing fairly well in that division shouldn’t really be applauded.
I agree with what your saying. But those mistakes were already made when the transfer window closed. In this particular match, we could use these particular players, and they did their best until they got tired. Hodgson could have fixed that. Of course it would have been better if we had different players, and that recruitment, of both players and managers is a much bigger problem.
Foster did make two worldie saves to be fair, although the chances probably came from him kicking it straight to Burnley. Kucka also did play well but did you see him just jog alongside Charlie Taylor for the first goal? Taylor couldn’t believe his luck as we just let him pick the perfect cross!! Laughable effort.
Through all my rage at that utterly despicable collapse I forgot how bad this result was for Everton and suddenly I feel a lot better.
Although Everton would be hilarious and my absolute preference we’ve also still got Leeds as a potential fall back now too.
Oh and Burnley are f****** s*** as well. That they’re 12 points ahead of us is the most damning thing of all.
It’s funny how I keep watching teams who I think are completely awful and we keep losing to them. I thought Burnley were TERRIBLE. So I have no words for what that makes us.
I agree with you. I think our players were really desperate for the win today. But once Pedro got tired and stop offering anything in the attack and was constantly making wrong decisions when we are attacking, it leaves only Dennis as our only attacking threath since Sarr has already been a liability in the team for a long time now. Burnley noticed this and they started attacking us with more confidence until they got the equaliser. With a different manager, King and Kalu would have come on for Pedro and Sarr in the 65th minute. With King's hold up play, we will be able to keep the ball more under pressure. And with Kalu's pace and skill we will still be a threat when on the counter and we could have score the second goal with fresh legs because Burnley weren't actually good defensively as I expected. And with Kalu we have a player that can help Femenia defensively, but Roy choose to just play the whole 90 minutes with the same players hoping with luck, we might get a win and a clean sheet. I will be really disappointed if he is still our manager for the next game. Sent from my TECNO P701 using Tapatalk
So. 12 points from safety and a -22 goal difference, 4 to play. Edit: Only 7 goals to Leeds. We can do this!
