Ralph Lauren one, was about £125 I think. Fortunately there was no weapon and bizarrely they let him take his phone and earphones out of his pocket and keep them. He's been very quiet since and said he just wanted to stay in bed all day.

It's not the first sort of incident like this - I think this gang of feral scum target kids on their way home from school.

A game of two halves. The first half was awful, very slow, no attacking intent just dreadful. Chak and Kone coming on changed things very much for the better and we looked decent and maybe could have nicked it.
Bachmann - Two good saves but will be remembered for the goal. 100% his fault as he has no need to rush out like that. Came and missed a cross later in the half as well. Hamer should not have been dropped
Andrews - Looked desperate to have a good game but was really poor first half, better second half. Hopefully a run of games will help
Porteuos - Say what you like about him but at least he cares and gives everything to the cause. Thought he was decent last night
Hoedt - Just give him Player of the Season now
Lewis - ******* dreadful. Never looks forward and should have given Swansea a second goal
Sema - Looked awful and then got injured
Livermore - Looked slow and knackered
Dele-Bashiru - He was ok but still not sure what he actually does
Dennis - Some sparks of life but need more
Asprilla - Looked better when Kone and Chak came on
Bayo - Basically did and offered nothing. Standard performance
Chak - Gave us some impetus and although final ball can be lacking at least it gives the opposition something to worry about
Kone - Best midfielder in the club and must start
Rajovic - Same as Bayo but added bottling a challenge and a complete mis-control when in a good position
Not the worst point but you can see why Swansea are where they are.
I'm firmly in the VI out camp as playing like we did in the first half and the lack of any kind of plan is very worrying
Give it to Clevs till the summer and then Martinez if he wants it

Horrible. At least someone riding a scooter and wearing a balaclava shouldn't be too difficult to track down - if the police can find the time :between investigating cyber bullying incidents.
I hope your lad is not too shaken up

So is the manager gonna swap the keepers around after each bad game now? That own goal was down to two players who hadn’t been starting games and didn’t communicate. I would probably give Bachmann another game now. But wouldn’t have dropped Hamer in the first place. Needless situation.

Maybe change Mr Q's centre spot challenge to Mr Q's you're the goalkeeper challenge. Pick an overweight optimist out of the crowd and instead of attempting to punt the ball half the length of the pitch and land it on the centre spot the victim has to play in goal. If he doesn't let any in he wins a £10 Mr Q voucher

I know this goes against the narrative a lot on here like to paint of the club, but I think it's more likely that it was shot to pieces before he joined. Looking back at his signing thread, apparently he "Was awful tonight in their friendly apparently" for Newcastle before he joined, and "Newcastle fans can't stand him".

His performances weren't particularly great even right at the start of the season, so it's not as if we've taken away from something that was there to begin with. Aside from a few games in the middle of the season where he seemed more keen to bomb forward and he and Ken seemed to have developed a bit more of an understanding, he's been distinctly mediocre from start to finish.

There’s a difference between having the ball at your feet under no pressure, and sprinting back towards your own goal, in a race with a forward as the ball drops out the sky.

Hamer has been trending downwards for a while now, and even though he came in and steadied the ship in November he’s not exactly a great goalkeeper. There’s a reason why he’s spent the last 10 years as backup and was brought here as third choice. At 36, his ceiling is also far lower than Bachmann’s, who is much younger.

Bachmann is easy to dislike, but for all his terrible errors he also pulls off some game changing saves. There’s a good goalkeeper in there, he just needs some coaching and - more importantly - confidence. His reaction to the OG yesterday was good. He could have fallen apart, but he brushed it off and made some important saves to keep us in the game at 0-1.

I’d like to like Bachmann but I just can’t, I find him petulant.

Twice I’ve seen him storm off the pitch during pre match warm ups because the coach didn’t kick the ball straight into his hands.

His display at Southampton in the cup walking off was just ridiculous.

And I thought his reaction after the OG last was because he didn’t think he had done anything wrong.

    All only IMHO of course.

Whilst he was EXCLUSIVELY to blame for the own goal, he still did make a couple of match saving saves that I’m not convinced Hamer is making.

Says a lot about our recruitment that our best left back post Holebas has been Adam Masina…

Edit: completely forgot about Hassane Kamara.

Also says a lot about our recruitment that people would rather a winger plays up top than an actual striker (although I use that term very loosely when describing Rajovic)

I think the two I can remember - the one on one and the parry right at the end of the first half - are both in Hamer's locker going on what we saw when he first came into the team. Like the rest though he's dropped a level since January.

At Norwich he wss very good going forward (which he isn't now) which disguised his crap defending and got him his Newcastle move.

Hmmm. His kicking looked a bit shaky in recent home games too. And it's entirely based off what I see rather than can show through stats but it feels like he's not been making as many handy saves since January.

I can't think of any other goals off the top of my head that he could have done better with since Sheffield Wednesday where he pretty much single-handedly won us a point tbf, although wrt kicking, I don't remember him being particularly good or bad at that but all Watford keepers seem to rapidly get worse in that area

It's not tiredness that's his is issue. A tired player doesn't burst into the box receive the ball with space to drive into but then turn away from the dangerous area.

He just doesn't have the killer instinct of a modern fullback. He never wants to deliver the ball until he's given the defender the chance to recover.

Eh? Lewis has always been better going forward than defending. If he's not even doing that properly then you've got to question what the point of him is!

Bachmann is 30 this year, if he hasn't learnt how to dominate his box and kick a ball accurately by now then when will he? It's nothing to do with confidence, he's always been terrible at those things. The fact that he makes a few decent saves a season doesn't make up for the dread he puts into our defence or the goals he gifts to the opposition.

Well then it begs the question, why waste what is, if not the full amount of his wages, still surely a decent whack on a player who looked shot after barely playing for Newcastle? Have we learned nothing from Danny Rose?

My post you quoted was discussing his current lack of confidence.

He's not as bad as Rose was.

He's still nearer to the kind of loan signing Choudhury was last season - a 25 year-old player who'd had an alright stint in the PL but had seemingly lost their way a bit and been frozen out; but who you would hope should still be a good player at Championship level and perhaps have a chance at revitalising their career (but in the end were both pretty mediocre).

Rose was an ageing fatso who more lacked professionalism than confidence.

That's just nonsense - Sema was one of our best and most important few players this season until his injury. It was the injuries to him and Kayembe which killed the good run we were on at the end of last year.

Rose in his prime was far better than Lewis ever was or ever will be, and there were flashes of that ability, but his lack of fitness just proved too much in the end. Choudhury was at least somewhat useful, he didn't solve our distribution issues, but he did add some much needed steel to the midfield, he's not got back to playing in the Prem, but he has gone back to Leicester and played plenty (which did surprise me a bit considering their style of play)

  32. Hogg-DEENEY!!!

    Hogg-DEENEY!!! Squad Player

I think he has been on the slide this season even before the injury, he filled his boots against the two mid-table League 1 standard teams we've played this season, but he's got 1 goal (a peach tbf!) and 1 assist (a mishit cross which Rajovic did his best to miss from point blank range) against proper teams. He's always relied on his physicality to get past players, he's never been the quickest, perhaps at his age he's lost a bit more pace which has hindered him

Bizarrely most of his appearances this season have been at right-back which isn't a position I expected him to have a future in...

He did, the one on one stop he did well with and the punch off the line. But as normal his distribution was as poor as our throw ins.

I do get the sense, as mentioned above too that he doesn’t fill those around him with confidence, apart for the opposition that is.

He just doesn’t seem to command his area.

  35. Hogg-DEENEY!!!

These modern football managers seem to treat CM and RB interchangeably! In all seriousness though, I sort of get it, there is some overlap in terms of skillset between the two positions, with perhaps less emphasis on keeping hold of the ball out on the right (though I haven't seen much of them this season)
