Oppo Forum: https://millwallonline.com/forum/forums/football-talk-north-stand-banter.6/ So here we are then. 23 games in, my maths is pretty good but that's half of 46 games. We sit in 4th position - 7pts off the automatic places and 10pts off leaders Burnley. However, we are only a measly 3pts ahead of Preston who sit in 7th. That is how tight this race for the top six is right now. I have more or less written off our chances of catching the top two already even if it's only a seven point gap - that's still two win and a draw away and them losing 7pts or more. Still, there is 23 games to go so it's not impossible. What we need is a good run of form, and we have managed three in a row so far as our best run. At the time of writing we are however unbeaten in our last four, keeping FOUR clean sheets! That in itself, with our patch work side - is impressive. A lot of respect to Bilic for keeping this side in and amongst the chasing pack. Anyway, enough of my babble what about the game? Well, I know you don't want to, but let's revisit our utterly shameful performance at the New Den. We were deservedly beaten 3-0. We didn't show up, we didn't look like we cared, and Millwall thankfully eased off towards the end. That performance is up there with one of our worst of this season. However, our record at the Vic against Millwall is pretty good. You may remember us beating them at home 1-0 (Sarr penalty) in the same game two season's back which sealed our return to the PL. This fixture, is just as important. Drop points here and we could drop out of the playoffs. What we need to try to do is maintain our position, and considering how fearful we all are at losing Pedro in the Window (which is fast approaching), getting as many points on the board between now and then is essential. As for their season overall, Millwall fans' are probably more than happy so far. They are not in any relegation danger and still harbor hopes of a top six finish - so a bit like us then. It would think it's the same side that started and finished the win at Huddersfield (minus Choudhury) last time out. We did spend long periods of that game letting Hudderfield play keep ball in the first half, which is something Millwall will gladly do on Boxing day, only they have players who can cause us problems. Starting on the right foot (insert Kamara joke) is essential. I think the fact the crowd will be "buzzing" for a late Xmas present, and merrry on the sherry, I feel we have just enough to beat them. However, it will not be an easy game, they will push us all the way. Watford 1 Millwall 0
Games against Millwall are notoriously hard to predict - this page shows the wide range of results between us, and that's in the modern footballing era alone! Even when we've been much the better team we've lost on at least a couple of occasions, the 0-2 home loss in the 2005/06 season and the defeat at the Den in the FA Cup in 2016/17 when they were a League 1 side spring to mind. On paper we should win this because they've been very poor away this season as you can see here, but Watford are notorious for turning the form book on its head and not always in a desirable way. Still a long way to go but I won't be confident of our chances of even making the play-offs if we don't get three points on Boxing Day.
I now live in Buckinghamshire. So I think I’m too good for both Watford and Millwall. But I feel even more superior than Millwall. 2-0 Watford.
It was about 1.5kg. Bigger than recommended but still turned happily on the spit and cooked to perfection in 70 min. Skin was golden and crispy whilst the flesh was juicy and delicious.
Out of stock everywhere. I have the Tower and the Sur Le Table 7.4l too. I'm well covered until ninja supplies come back in.
@Ybotcoombes - I think he has me on ignore so wouldn't have seen the van post so thinks you're just commenting on the size of the chicken
Sur Le Table is one sexy beast. Too many buttons though, same with the Tower. Very happy with my twisty kn0b.
I'll be shocked if we don't comfortably beat them. They're not very good. Went to the game at their place, and it's easily the worst I've seen us play this season. 4-0 orns
These Boxing Day games always seem to be 11 hungover players vs 11 hungover players. Even in the modern era of professionalism this still feels like it is the case. If only we had a lightning fast winger who neither celebrates Christmas, nor drinks alcohol. Sarr to have an absolute field day I reckon. Prediction Watford 4-5 Millwall Sarr (10, 23, 45, 66), sent off (68); Kabasele (og 72, og 78, og 85, og 90+2) Joao Pedro (og 90+5)
Both of mine were used bargains from FB marketplace. 80 quid for the SLT and 15 quid for the Tower. When I upgrade next year, I'll be looking for one which I can either operate remotely or set on a timer, so I can set it up and leave it to be ready when i come home from work. The Tower was really bought to take camping, but since I found it has a rotisserie function, it's become indispensable. Xmas Dinner is gonna be such fun to cook this year.
I expect a different game from our last against the Lions; However, there have been some terrible performances in recent memory, the Milwall game earlier this season was the worst I remember us playing. Luckily we will have a completely different backline to the one we played at The Den, and our defence is starting to look more substantial. Surprisingly Baachman has the second most clean sheets in the division, so hopefully, we have enough to deal with Milwall's aerial presence; if we successfully do that, we should win, although midfield is still a big issue.
I can't be bothered to check exact points differences from 2 years ago but I think we were 9 points behind Brentford and overhauled them with ease to get 2nd place so 1st & 2nd are still possible. I'm not saying we will do it mind, but it is possible. I still think the current top 2 will go up with us through the play-offs from 3rd.
Not if you live over 2 hours away! The Horaces will have a very early Boxing Day start. Fortunately the missus can't drink so someone will be sober enough to drive!
