We just need to go on the attack and cleaver through their defence like a knife through butter. Then stick behind the ball and guillotine any opportunity they might have to get back in the match. If something scimitar had been proposed earlier we wouldn't be in the place we are now. We should have analysed our shortcomings with a stiletto much sooner.
If we lose this the other boats will be in danger of disappearing over the horizon. There'd still be time to play 'catch up' but if we were to lose deservedly then there would seemingly be little idea as to how we might achieve that. Even if we were to somehow procure a whole new defence in January it would probably be too late. This really is a 'must win match'. If we do win then we'll have the confidence back that we can actually win a football match and things could turn around very quickly. After Spurs that will virtually be a quarter of a season gone though.
Our current predicament has me like a katana hot tin roof. Our troubles at full back make me almost miss the days of Jean Alain Falchion, so arakh may be the best form of defence. Lose this game and we could be cutlass from the rest of the pack. Win and I'll start to feel a little more epee. I just wonder if we have the excalibur of players to deliver that much needed 3 points. Prediction Watford 2-3 Sheffield United Sharp (og 23, og 72); Sharp (85, 88, 90+6)
Biggest and most important game since the promotion season. It's rare that we have a game like this so in a way it is kind of exciting, until we're 4-0 at 65 minutes and Delefou is taken off for Kiko.
As Corporal Jones would have had it about cold steel 'they don't like it up'em'. FFS Watford, stick it up'em!
Seeing as you'll be the only one throwing your season ticket onto the pitch you should be fairly easy to identify. And then 'reprimand'. However, you'll probably be the best part of 200 miles north at Pride Park at the time anyway.
You’re dealing with a dangerously intelligent Luton fan if they can come up with an alias and log in to a forum, presumably from some sort of shared computer at an open prison.
The concern I have is that the players we have attacking wise are in their element when counter attacking and playing with space. To do that, we have to let opposition have the ball and come onto us - but that puts pressure on us defensively and we’ve shown we can’t do that well. We somehow have to make games very open like the second half against Arsenal was. The best way to achieve that I’m not quite sure of. But I do think it goes against Flores DNA as a coach. Worrying really.
Sheffield United lost 1-0 against Liverpool and their manager was digging out their players after the game and furious. We lost 8-0 against Man City and the club showed more or less total apathy afterwards. Shows you a fair bit about the different mentalities of the clubs at the moment.
If we put in 100% effort then we can get something from this. If the players come into this game with their usual can't be bothered attitude then 0-2. Unfortunately it'll probably be the latter but will be pleased to be proved wrong.
I don't think the players have the mental attitude and this isn't going to quickly turned around. This is not an easy win if anyone is thinking that. They will fight and play like a football team rather than a collection of bastards 0-2 is optimisistic I think more like 3 or 4 to them
I don't think the club showed apathy at all. It - or at least Flores - made a calculation that jumping up and down making a scene about it, whether in anger or contrition, wouldn't do the players any good in the long run. I can't really fault the logic. Wilder is a good manager for sure but he'll soon become boring to everyone when they realise his shtick is the same every week. It's all an act.
I broadly agree. The players need to pressure the opposition to try and nick the ball, then break. They did that all the time against Arsenal, but not at all at Wolves for some reason. In particular they need to find a way to utilise Sarr’s speed. I suspect this means he has to stay very wide, also something QSF probably won’t like.
Who are Leicesters scum? While watching MOTD2 lastnight (looking good btw) I got to thinking about Leicesters story since you lost the play off semi against us, you couldnt write it!!
Hopefully they'll get a couple sent off and Elton 'accidentally' leaves his piano in our goal mouth, giving our defence less to win at with their og attempts.
If we win we have a chance of staying up. If we lose this, we are as good as gone. The lineup was much closer to the one all fans had been screaming out for, but there are still a couple of positions that need changing on Saturday. Quina MUST start. If he is going to have any sort of career with us in the PL, this should be the game he gets his chance. Kabasele for Dawson is a no-brainer. We have not won when Dawson has played, he makes our defence worse - FACT. Deulofeu needs to take a hard look at himself and start playing for Watford and not thinking he should be playing for a top team. He's here for a reason, unless he sorts out his personal issues, he needs to be dropped. Pererya performances have picked up lately so I'd pick him over Deulofeu for now. Sarr and Welbeck need to keep their place in the team. Both need games and time to create a chemistry with each other on the pitch. I look at the majority of the squad and can't believe we are bottom of the table. It has to get better from here, it can't possibly get any worse.
I could say ‘well if it hadn’t been for that goal none of these wonderful things would have happened after’ but the truth is I still can’t bring myself to watch it and if I did see it now I would struggle not to smash my phone to pieces and cry.
this is an absolutely not lose game, sod style, sod creativity, pack the midfield, pack the defence & hope for a set piece in the 93rd Minute
There is a nice water feature outside Sheffield train station Definitely in my top 5 transport hub water features
