My personal view was he didn't realise how much time he had. I'm not trying to excuse him (as much as I've been #TeamBayo on here since VI was announced..) as I also felt he should've done better in this scenario, but I think he underestimated how slow the CB he had to cut across was to recover and since he didn't check to see where the CB was positioned was expecting a tackle to come in. Was gonna try to explain it in more detail but a video makes more sense.
We will never know of course but my view is prime Guardiola couldn't get a tune out of that rancid squad last season.

It was Asprilla wasn't it? Louza brought it down. Asprilla thread 3 or 4 excellently weighted balls through in his 30 mins on the pitch
Watching the Twitter clip of his performance, there were 3 selfish choices I cresited to him but were actually other players (1x Kone, 1x Andrews and 1x Louza... I'm in the back row, stop judging me!), so they skewed my review somewhat! On that basis, the only times I thought he went for glory rather than playing for the team were the long lob after winning the ball back and setting up a breakaway, and his other shot where he had 4 defenders in front of him but team mates free. Other than that he was very unselfish and my summary was wrong.
