Vydra could be on his way back!!

  1. This.

Last year we depended on him, with Fessi the only real alternate option. This year we don't. We are far stronger and can deploy a whole range of attacking formations and players that will get the job done.

As to the 'miss his goals' argument, Cardiff just walked the league with the same GD as us and not one 20 goal striker in sight.

I dont understand why Arsenal would be trying to pay +£40m for the little5hit Suarez when they could have Vydra for far far less

How comes Chalobah isn't getting as much stick for wanting to try his luck at Chelsea and not come back to Watford? Is it because he isn't a Pozzo player?

There is no reason for disliking Vydra in this situation. He has a choice to make, let him make it. He isn't our player (at the moment), if he wants to move to the premier league he is more than capable of doing so, he is a great striker. Just because his agent states that he doesn't want to play for Watford doesn't make him a ****. The agent on the other hand....opened his mouth too soon.

Southampton are releasing Billy sharp and there was talk of Lambert leaving too. Southampton have money and aren't afraid to spend. Ramirez was a big gamble for them and I wouldn't be surprised if they did bid around the asking price for Vydra.

Vydra has nothing against Watford, in fact he liked playing for the club but he does not like the Championship. This is the problem and the two should not be confused. Had Watford gone up he would have signed immediately. There was no hidden agenda here, as he said something along these lines before the season even ended.

He may yet come back, so fans should be open to the idea and not too quick to cast judgement until they know exactly where he's going to play next season. You should not listen to the agent as he changes with the wind and has done this throughout the close season.

Of course Vydra wants to play at the highest level possible, this is clear, but sometimes players are wrong and cannot see it. There were many times his form was not good enough to even get into the Watford team, so I believe he will be far better off playing for a successful Championship team with friends around him. His end of season form has ensured no one is going to pay what the Pozzo's want for him, so if he really wants a move to a big club, he has to knuckle down and work hard. He's only 20 and has a lot to learn.

The two cases are totally different. It was within the power of Vydra to return but not so Chalobah. Chelsea will want to loan Chalobah to another Premier club and therefore he does not have the option to return.

I don't agree. Both were loan players - it is just that one is owned by the Pozzos. Both were technically returning to their parent clubs at the end of the season. We aren't entitled to other Pozzo players, those that are slagging him off come across as spoilt brats.

The answer to the question "has anybody heard Matty say he doesn't want to play for Watford again" is no. You haven't heard him say it because he hasn't. His agent has been trying to get him a move and has said it's unlikey he will be back. That doesn't mean he doesn't ever want to play for us again. Did Danny Graham say anything when he was in the process of being sold. No, he said absolutely nothing so Matty's silence means nothing. His agent and probably Vydra as well think he can play at a higher level. They may well be right and probably are. An agent is there to make money for himself and don't kid yourself that it's all about looking after the players interests because it's not, it's about getting the player to move to where he will make the most money. Unfortunately for him I don't think Vydra wants to play at teams like Palace and that's the only club who've officialy been in touch I believe. I agree we are not a one man side and if he doesn't come back we may well be ok but in my opinion we would miss him. It's no coincidence that we didn't do very well at the same time as his goals dried up and that would suggest we would miss him.
I have to say I find this all a bit boring as well as others do. However Zola certainly wants him back and so would many others as proven goal scorers are hard to come by and definitely not cheap but because he and his agent would appear to want to keep their options open I would think if he came back it wouldn't be until September when the window has shut.

I think, because it was the first season with the Pozzo's, people are comparing losing Matej to losing King, losing Graham etc. He's not irreplaceable because we now have the world's greatest scouting network behind us. If we were still owned by Bas, Vydra might go on to be one of the greatest players to play for us. This is no longer the case.

You read and hear similar comments from Udinese fans when the Pozzo's sell a key player from last season. The key with these owners is to strengthen each year. If you lose a good player, you get a better one in. He may not be proven or be a big name but you can be confident that if he's sent to replace someone, he'll be as good, if not better. 5 games into the season, no one will be talking about Vydra and everyone will be saying what a great find Acuna was.

I do believe I read somewhere that Graham did say he'd only leave us if it was for a premiership team and that he wouldn't sidestep into another championship team.

Wasn't Danny Graham also instrumental in getting more money for the club out of his deal? Release fee was £2.5m we got £3.5m - I thought he pushed for more. But now, after this story it just hit me that the extra gained from this supposed myth was probably the amount that put us in our embargo situation. Then again, it may not be. Another post to add to the pointless pile.

If Vydra does come back - a big if - it seems from comments here that he won't have the warmest welcome. But I suppose 12 goals in his first 6 games would change that.

I don't think he'd mind after saying he'd hope for him to come back. Zola played him through his lowest form, leaving an in-form Forestieri on the bench at times. Zola knows he is a good striker and scores goals, would be tough on players like Acuna though to sit on the bench if they are playing well. Guess it will just have to be the way it goes.

Matty Vydra is clearly a class player, but if he's the sort of person who decides to not put in 100% because he hasn't got a move I don't want him. Acuna and Fessi will do a great job and give their all (Fessi definitely will anyway.)

The facts are there, he doesn't get a move last Jan, toys get thrown out and he doesn't score for months. If he had given it his all or Fessi had played we'd possibly have got automatic last year. That's way I see it based on what I've heard and what Affleck said on twitter.

I don't want him back unless he's committed and I don't think he is. Possibly he needs some time on Udineses bench/reserves to learn some important lessons.

So when Forestieri sat on the floor for 2 or 3 minutes last season after going down, he was giving his all? What about when he casually strolled back when we were on a break? Admitedly, he bucked up his ideas and sorted that out. If Vydra wasn't giving it his all and making an effort why didn't Forestieri play? Zola must've seen something else to you.

Luckily for Vydra, his parent club is Udinese and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have to deal with a **** like you telling him he doesn't deserve to play football because he isn't playing for the club you want him to. If he comes back, don't get up too fast when you cheer when he inevitably scores. You may fall off your high horse.

Calm down I'm only giving you my opinion. If he comes back and bangs in goals a plenty then fantastic ill be delighted, but my take on it is that he doesn't want to be here and so I don't want him back. None of us know exactly what happened last year but Affleck and others have said he kicked up a fuss. The resulting goal drought is obviously linked to that.

Really any need to call me a **** for thinking that?!

Also Chalobah has been clear from the start that he wants to stay at Chelsea and become a bit of a legend there.

Chalobah also doesn't have an agent that spouts off as much *******s as he can.

I thought we had an option to buy all of last year's players anyway?

  33. ChrisG

Plenty of reason. You're acting like a fool. The only 100% fact you have is that he went through a goal drought. He could have refused to play if he didn't like what was happening, faked an injury. It wasn't for the want of trying. He put effort in, anyone at games could see that. His head is to play football, at the highest level possible. If Watford is the highest level available to him, he'll play football. Your take on that he doesn't want to be is based on his agent's comments and Kevin Affleck's "source", Matej Vydra has not said a word in all of this.

  34. wfcmoog

Vydra used to like Watford, but since they abused the loan system and then unfairly signed a load of players on a free, he hopes they get relegated. I saw him punch the air when Palace won at Wembley.

He faked injury so he could leave early and pop the champagne with Baz. #itk
