First the good news As you know we've had v-bookie installed for a couple of weeks now. This uses virtual cash which is why everyone has a v-cash amount under their avatar or username, (default starting amount 500). At the moment, all you can do is gamble with it in the v-bookie area on events I put up. This is where V-Bux and V-Plaza come in V-Bux gives a virtual economy, a way to earn more v-cash other than via the bookie. You can earn extra v-cash by posting, running polls, updating profile pictures, being a regular visitor etc etc. It has a bank that pays interest if you pay in v-cash and too many other options to list right now. Once a virtual economy is up and running we can have competitions with v-cash prizes, you can try to steal off other people, you can donate to others, or even play a weekly lottery. So you build a pile of v-cash, now what? This is where V-Plaza comes in V-Plaza is a shop. A forum shop. With enough v-cash you can do lots of stuff here. Maybe you want a different colour for your username, what about creating a sticky thread, how about a custom title, or one of my favorites, the ability to change someone elses username!!! (it'll cost them to change it back too). Right up to the point where you can pay enough v-cash to enter a most secret area of the forum It will even be possible to charge v-cash for playing the newest arcade games. I think you can make a temporary 2 hour ban on someone too, but that costs loads! There's about 50 times more to it than I've explained above, but that's a general overview. In case your wondering, it's 100% virtual. At no point in time will wfcforums ever ask for real cash from anyone, it's a mod for us to have some fun with, to break the boredom when the golden boys have no games to play, and to really annoy each other with ;D Now the bad news The new members. Don't get me wrong, we're loving the popularity now, that's the whole point of existing here, to have a large community. It's exciting times. We just didn't expect so many so quickly in the last 2 weeks! (thanks Graham ) What this means is that right now it's more important to keep the site up, well moderated and running like clockwork than to take it down for an afternoon or longer to install the virtual economy. It's also important that new people aren't already overwhelmed by a vast array of places to post and stuff to do compared to the main boards, then hit them with loads of new options and toys while they're still settling in. So the original plan for installing by the end of this month has been shelved. I now plan to install the new mod over Christmas, call it my present to you This also gives you time to build an initial stash via the v-bookie to have a head start on the crowd.
Not so sure i like the idea of v-plaza, if you let people change user names as an example it becomes silly. Could lead to arguments / problems etc. At the moment the board is well run and has lots of potential to grow, but becareful you don't ruin it. Just my opinion.
Thief option. I think if someone leaves their v-cash out of the bank you can get a chance to grab it, but if you fail you have a forfeit imposed, including a temporary ban as one of them I think.
Opinions very welcome. The nice thing about it is that you can turn on or off any option. On another board that ran a very cut down version of this I was amazed at the way people clung on to their virtual cash. It was as if it was real. The username option was used there and it certainly did cause some grief. Mainly because they got the ecomomy wrong and everyone was rich within a couple of months, (at 3% a DAY interest, I'm not surprised). So if someone had the hump they'd spend all day changing everyone's usernames. Because I've seen the problems caused I have a much better idea of how to use it wisely. I intend to drip feed different options and set prices etc accordingly. If anything causes a row, or disharmony here I'll pull it again. If I find that it's dragging the forum down as a whole I'll have no concerns about pulling the plug on the whole mod. I'm a firm believer in never giving the forum the chance to get bored. It must be from spending too much time on the officials
question. if someone changes your username does that mean you then have to log in with that changed name or your original?
aswell, if someone changes your username whilst your not logged in. when you come to log in, will you be rejected because you don't have the correct user name?
It's a long way off yet so don't panic, but nobody can really cause your account harm, including logging in. PS. Hormeister, apparently you can buy postcounts Trust me, that will cost!

So let me get this straight... I had v-cash, which has now been replaced by points.... These 500 points are on my person and can be stolen off me by other users.. can they be stolen when I am offline or just when I am online? If I put them into the bank they can't be stolen, but I can't pay for anything until I withdraw. When I earn enough I can pay for nice things in the Plaza. If I don't earn engough I cannot pay to get my name changed back to EVASIVE when someone who has decides to change it. Hmmm from what I hear at the moment, it doesn't really convince me.
Fear not. More announced tomorrow. I WILL NOT enable anything that might cause friction, IE name changes by others

There's a thief option, (not enabled), that let's you attempt to steal others cash. If you fail then you lose your own, so it's not without risks. However, right now I can only see it causing rows so it'll stay disabled until further notice.
Well if its not enabled you do not need to know how to do it . If its enabled im sure Admin will tell us how
Very much like the donate facility. Type in a username then how much you want to steal. If you fail you lose the same amount, (which when I tested it happened 3 out of 4 tries).
Fail to steal from another user. Obvioisly stealing, (or thieving), is risky, same here, (if it was enabled). I think you get caught 60%+ of the time and you lose from your own stash what you were trying to steal.
To be able to delete your post you must do it up to 10 minutes after it's posted. After that it's edit only. (plus after 10 mins it says edited by...) Same for watford1990, he just realises his mistakes quicker
