Troy Deeney admitted his guilt which is a good thing. Marlon King still denies his guilt and has history so the two can't be compared. Interesting to note that Luke McCormack who wiped out an entire family while drink driving is out now and is having trials with a pro club. Deeney would no doubt get another club as he can score goals at this level but that in my opinion should not be the reason for keeping him. We can only go on the reports we have read regards this and although what he has done is dreadful there may have been more to it than meets the eye. A lot depends on Deeney. I am sure he will issue an apology but he should do more. Offer to do more community work. Offer to do talks in schools, anything really that will make people believe that he is truly sorry and this was out of character and will not happen again. The most difficult part for the club is, as somebody else mentioned, 9 fans were banned for life after the scum game for doing something very similar to Troy. If Troy is allowed to continue earning his income through Watford should these 9 not be allowed back as well. I know this won't happen but it does highlight double standards.
im afraid im very much in the pro-deeney camp. he got involved because his brother was involved, i would have done the same in his situation. perhaps i would not have taken it so far but if my brother is involved in a bust-up im hardly going to stand by and do nothing. everyone deserves a second chance, and troy is no different.
Whether you consider yourelf one or not, the behaviour you've owned up to is that of a thug and a hooligan.
you beat people up with your words, specificaly your lessors - your a verbal thug and hooligan - that is even worse -torturing people's minds.. verbal thugs and hooligans are scum! canuting barstewards - cut the fingers and the tongues of these inbreds...! hang em high!
Like good old businessmen Pozzo`s are aware of the real value of the player. After all - TD was our leading goalscorer during the last campaign. Also...it was Elton`s money spent on that player. There isn`t any other player in the team with such a high transfer fee paid for...IMO his contract will be even extended
Correct me if I'm wrong but the way I see it is the students got in a fight with the unrelated large group and then mistook Troy and his mates as being involved with the unrelated group and Troy's brother got caught up in it. Troy saw this and went in to protect his brother. Kicking someone in the head when they're down is definitely not on at all in these circumstances but the way that some people on here are portraying Deeney is as going out on the p*ss and looking for a fight with someone and then for no reason beating up a poor little innocent student who did nothing wrong.
I don't know enough to correct you if you're wrong, but the court heard all the evidence and it was Troy who was convicted. Not Student A or Student B. This doesn't imply that Troy was sucked in against his will and shoed a guy in defence of his family.
The OP has a point, there are double standards at work here, its not right. Footballers should be subject to the same punishment as fan. That said, a lifetime ban has always been way OTT.
Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the whole point of him going to prison meant to be his punishment and when he's done his time it's meant to be over?
Yes but you don't pay a transfer fee for the average joe, if he's not on his best behaviour after this then of course he should go and he should be doing a lot of community work to make up for it when he gets out.
Er really? I think you'll find the average job recruitment fee is into 5 figures (ignoring unskilled jobs) or at the very least mid-high 4 figures, sure it's not as much as millions footballers can cost, but it's no small fee either.
Whether you are joking or not Paddy, you just beat me to it, that is exactly what Moog and some others are on here are, verbal thugs and hooligans. If I am being accused of being a thug and hooligan, which incidentally I do not agree that I am; at least I have stood face to face with my adversaries when I have been defending myself, and not hiding behind a computer screen mentally bullying others!
Don't try and make out your drunken brawling is some kind of chivalrous behaviour. If you want me to come and tell it to your face, I will. Don't play the "internet" card here.
Give it a rest, if you feel bullied by someone on a football forum then you need to get a f**king grip. Use the ignore button, fairly simple just don't go crying about it.
It's easy to not get involved in a fight. It's blindly obvious what kind of person is looking for a scrap on a night out, simply avoid them. If you're unfortunate enough to be confronted you can easily walk away, however much you're provoked. I've done it dozens of times and I don't feel any less of a man than these thugs. I can control myself and there is no honour in having a drunken punch-up on a high street. It's pathetic. However, I also believe that if a man is punished for his crime and is truly sorry, he should be given a second chance. I don't think 'football' or 'business' comes into it.
Who rattled your cage chewitt? Have you even read what this is all about, I doubt it! I'm not crying about anything I'm just stating facts!
Paddy always reminds me of the cowboy who does the voice-over in The Big Lewbowski. He just fits in. Love the waving bear as well.
At the risk of being whooshed, I just have to inform you guys that paddy has been a Hornets fan probably since before you were born; he just has a rather of the wall sense of humour, which you tend to get used to after a while!
