Given we had space for Okoye on the bench in our last game and JP will become HG in Jan then we actually would hypothetically have space for one more non-HG player for the role - so another Mogi special perhaps?
Someone purporting to have contacts (I don’t believe them) messaged me away from the forum a few hours ago and suggested we had enquired about Yan Valery from Southampton. Doubtful.
Yeah I know. It was more me posting to suggest, were it true, that we are looking to recruit in that area.
He’ll have to totally rewrite his article tomorrow about how the club are banking on Morris stepping up as a RWB.
Would love us to go back for Nandez if so. Can’t really think of any other good options off the top of my head.
Any sign of adding a RWB or CM? I don't think keeping the squad as it is will get us near promotion this season...
I think any team with Sarr/JP has a shot. That said the increase in our chances by making the 2 additions you mention is significant. Simply makes no sense not to do so unless we are verging on administration. A combination of arrogance and utter stupidity is more likely explanation.
Just seen that Bordeaux right back Enock Kwateng has just been released due to their financial situation. Think we were interested a couple of years back. Maybe go for him on a free as we’re not doing anything tonight. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...antes-defender-enock-kwateng-reports-suggest/
Omar Eladellaoui has just been released by Galatasaray- the Pozzos were after him previously, wonder if he’ll be looked at (I doubt that we’ll sign a RWB though)- I believe he counts as HG too due to his time at Man City
Interesting story about his eye injury. I do wonder if that has any bearing on him being released though.
There are a bunch of free agents. The Pozzos do like that market, it must be said. And there will be more players who might have their contract ripped up today to get wages off the books.
Thing is players that get their contracts terminated on deadline day are...well... See Danny Rose and Penaranda.
Bordeaux have released a lot of players that they haven’t been able to sell due to their finances. Not all are as poor/unfit/bad attitude as Rose and Peñaranda.
Wowzers, not sure holding lit fireworks in his hands that then go off speaks wonders to his decision-making capabilities. I also slightly doubt this particular Wikipedia editor's suggestion that his eyes have been 'literally rebuilt'
Just saw that he left Atalanta due to mental health issues but Josip Illicic is available as a free agent. Would be too good for the league. No idea what his appetite is but would be worth the risk in my opinion if he’d come here (he wouldn’t).
For a bit of fun, here is our record signing XI (in a 4-2-3-1). Total cost £118.22m (Transfermarkt figures). Okoye Janmaat Kabasele Dawson Masina Doucoure Louza Sarr Pereyra Success Gray Money well spent? Lol.
Damning indictment of our long-term refusal to adequately invest in the defence. 11 years, half of which with PL money, and the most we spent on a defender was about £5m
Oh dear lord. Pozzo has been completely irresponsible with our finances, once we hit the PL jackpot he had no idea how to use the money properly.
That defence I suppose the funny thing is that every one of those positions has a superior player in our 'best overall in position' category who was brought in for free (all many years ago, now).
