[RUMOUR] Transfer deadline week hopes and expectations

Deeney is due in the shop on Wednesday - if he no shows there then he is going.
I personaly believe he will stay.

Maybe Silva is so unimpressed he's been relegated from club legend and guaranteed starter to working in the club shop full time. Football, s'funny old game innit.

 

We've just had the wholesale changes which is why it's the best squad we've had. Agree there can't be much to come.

Djdj or Mapps will be replaced with a CB
Gibbs will sign
Okaka will be replaced

I’ve changed my expectations to that we will get our hopes up of deals being done this week and discuss some and then go slightly off topic. This will be repeated until we actually do a few ‘ins and outs’ at around 5pm on Thursday and not before. But not nearly as many as some are suggesting/expecting.

 

Expectations? Someone else pips us to Kieran Gibbs, we don't sign a CB, we sell too many forwards and Richarlison gets injured, leaving us worse off than when we started the season.

Hopes... the above doesn't actually happen.

FYI Wimmer just signed for Stoke per BBC.

 

Something has to change re strikers. At present we have 1 nippy striker and 2 lumps. Marco doesn't want to play lumps. Highly likely one lump will be replaced by another nippy striker. Dont know enough about Slimani to know which camp he fits into or whether he's a bit of both.

CHs have been untouched so far so wouldn't be surprised to see one or two swapped in/out.

 

I hate to think what Britos would do to them in training

 

As much as it’s unlikely, I’d still like us to make another major signing that makes a few sit up and take notice. I don’t want any Brice Dja-Djedje signings or gambles that’s make no real sense. LB aside, if there’s no real quality to be had, I’d rather we go into this season with what we have.

 

Slimani is no slouch, but he's certainly more Deeney than Vydra,

 

a Left back is the top priority. Anything more is a bonus IMO. This has been a good window for us and hopefully we have done enough to be nowhere near the bottom 3 come Jan. Think there will be a number of out goings as the squad gets trimmed. Also get the feeling Silva wont like players not in the squad around the place moaning.
Deeney still has a part to play the question is will he accept sitting on the bench? however he is in the shop Wednesday, Doubt the club would make such a fuss if they were then going to sell him Thursday. Okaka for me is the one who would do well in this system. But for some reason appears the powers that be dont't.

 

I'd pay to watch.

 

I believe odds are reducing that Britos is McGregors next opponent.

 

There's a thought. Vydra would be a good back up to Gray. Cheap too.

I will just talk about ins:
LB - now that Gibbs is off it will be Strinic or someone we have never heard of.
CB - Would be nice, especially a left footed one. Apparently in talks with Ranocchia.
LW - Someone as back-up for Richarlison. Not an expensive purchase but someone with pace and a good delivery.
GK - only if one goes out.
ST - only if one goes out.

Gibbs move has all been a smokescreen master plan for Gino to get the LB we wanted all along.

 

Hardly any striker outside of the top 7 clubs ever does that at this level though. 10-15 goals would still be a good return

 

Deeney with better support could be a 15-20 goal a season man. He knows where the goal is and is strong and skillful.

Last seasons lone man striker belt it up to him tactics didn't and won't work.

With 2 pacey strikers in Richarlison and Carillo and a number of decent ball playing defence splitting midfielders, don't put it past a fully fit and playing Troy to put a lot of goals away this season.

Our Alavés right back has turned out pretty decent so far. Anybody know how good their left back is??!

 

Think the Gibbs deal falling through has put a spammer in the works now. We have to go all out now to sign a LB. I would have thought the goal would have been to have Gibbs done today and focus on a CB, GK (possibly) and a RW/LW in the last 48/60 hours of the window.

Think we will only see a LB in and possibly a GK if Pants leaves.
