Thank goodness a football game isn’t won by logic. You just contradicted yourself with your entire point. According to you, we don’t have a chance of beating Spurs because our starting 11 is inferior to theirs. You then go on to say that Spurs beat Man City without Kane. A Spurs starting 11 that was and is inferior to Man City’s starting 11, yet they won. So an inferior team can beat a superior team if the manager gets the tactics right correct? Obviously the players have to show no fear/respect of the opposition, play the whole game with heart, fight snd passion, and do their jobs also. As mentioned, my dads a Spurs fan, seen more than enough of them to know we can get something from the game. That’s why it’s on Xisco of how he sets us up. If he sets us up right, we have a chance. If he doesn’t, then we will get hammered like I said.
We never beat them at WHL or whatever it's called now. Can't see that changing tomorrow unfortunately.
I like it when we're the underdogs. It reminds me of GT days. Loathsome arrogant spudders ignorantly saying they've "never heard" of most of our players. Good. Hope their players and manager are the same. Winning at spuds is lovely. I remember being there for a very nice and straightforward away win back in the day and hugely enjoyed the spudders dismay and demoralisation. Their ground wasShit too. Basically Kenilworth Road, but with mirrored glass on the executive conservatories. 1-2 Hornet win.
11th May 1985 Spurs (0) 1 - Watford (3) 5 (Hoddle) (Barnes, Callaghan, West, Blissett (pen), Thomas (og)) Pretty good afternoon that was. Pretty, pretty good.
I looked up our head-to-head with them and I see we beat them at WHL three times in a row in the heady days of 80s, and they had a pretty good team (finished 4th, 8th and 3rd). Just amazing results against the big boys back then which also included a hammering of West Ham who we didn’t beat again for over 20 years and several wins against Arsenal, including when we were relegated - the only things missing were wins at Liverpool, Man U and Everton.
Can people stop reminding me of this? But yes, very true, but you know people will hammer whoever misses and yearn for Deeney's classic slammed down the middle penalties
Nope, no contradiction here. Tottenham were playing Man City at home. Tottenham are at home again today. I didn't think pregame that Man City would beat Tottenham and i thought Man City would concede. I did not think Tottenham were inferior in that matchup on that day.
Nice try, but none of that is true. Good effort though. I get that you're embarrassed because you contradicted yourself, but digging yourself deeper isn’t the answer. However, let’s pretend that what you just typed is true, you just contradicted yourself again. Most football fans thought that Spurs would lose without Kane, but you didn’t. You apparently went against the grain because you believed Spurs would get something from the game without their best player, Man City would concede, and despite missing arguably the best striker in the world, you didn’t think Spurs were inferior. The bookies had Man City as clear favourites. “City is the -160 favorite(risk $160 to win $100) in the latest Tottenham vs. Manchester City odds from Caesars Sportsbook. Spurs are the +470 underdog and a draw is priced at +285, while the over-under for total goals scored is 2.5. So you state that you had a belief that went against all logic, because logic was stating that Man City would win. I state that Watford could get something if Xisco gets it right. Against the grain, as most people believe we’re going to lose. No different than your apparent thought of Spurs vs Man City. But because it goes against logic, you think it will only go one way. You can private message me an apology if you’re too embarrassed to post it publicly.
You should stick to Tennis stories and history, as you are not very good at WFC history. We have beaten them at WHL, but not at the current version of the stadium.
Deeney's penalty miss was one of several events in games in our relegation season where we could say "if only". Unfortunately we proved over the season not to be good enough, but frustrating as we could of saved ourselves without a few errors. Don't blame TD's penalty miss though, as many posters have told us penalties don't count.
Troy's miss sent us down, it's as simple as that. He changed how he normally took penalties and it cost us big time.
Update - due to a minor op on friday which has taken longer than expected to recover from, I am not going to be able to go today, so we are screwed
Spurs fans salivating at the prospect of being top of the PL later today with the Gunners bottom...........
Assuming had we gone 1/0 up and held on of course which is no given of course If anything that silly foul which lead to Villa’s late winner at Villa Park probably proved more costly arguably.
Oh that's confirmed it then hasn't it? No amount of non white and blue clothing from me today and plenty of yellow, red and black will help us now. Get well soon onion!
Good luck on a full recovery. Think team might be : Bachmann Cathcart/Kiko/Ngakia Sierralta WTE Rose Cleverley Etobo Kucka (if fit ) /Louza Sarr Dennis Cucho Surely Sema won’t play CM v Spurs ? Have I missed anyone out ?!
Agreed but in terms of an error by Deeney as I think he fouled someone late in the game leading to the winner ?
Son and Ali are both taking wagers as we speak to discover who gets the most shots on target. Of all the games before the first International break, Spuds away isn't the worst, and a point here would be amazing (we managed it last time although should of got all three). If we can go into the break with 4pts (or even 6) on the board, then August would of been an OK start especially if you factor in the Cup win as well.
