We certainly seem to be getting the players out on better loan deals this year. haven't seen enough of him to know if he looks good enough but this loan will certainly help him and us
He looks good because he's fast and direct but his end product leaves a lot to be desired. I think a lot of his burgeoning reputation is built on skipping past tired defenders which gets everyone on the edge of their seats (sofas last season?) but ignores the fact that a lot of the time the end product is a poor shot/wrong pass/overhit cross.
Limited game time, but did he even play one accurate cross last season? Kid needs a platform where he can actually get games and practice his end product, he may or may not be good enough for the Championship, but better be goes to a League 1 club who are going to have most of the play so he can hone his skills
With Sarr, Dennis, Cucho, JP, Sema and even centre forwards King and Fletcher to contend with? I think the club said as well that Baah might not be heading out on loan, at least not immediately, that's a lot of people ahead of him in the pecking order when realistically the guy is 21 and needs gametime
In fairness we rarely managed to find good loans for our youngsters before, especially domestically! Look how we messed Quina around, Wilmot was probably the most successful and he hardly passed his Swansea test with flying colours!
Anyway, I like the sound of this move for TDB, with Reading having sold a few players, I presume he'll be playing every week, for a team in upper mid table and who will want to play football. Sounds perfect for him!
Pleasing all round. Hopefully he gets the chance to show everyone what he's capable of. Agreed with @Knight GT we've organised some decent loans and this can only be a positive.
Yeah - they do seem to have been far better organised with getting proper loans sorted. Can't help but feel a few of these players would have benefited from these loans a year or two ago rather than sitting on Udinese's bench, but at least they are hopefully learning.
Didn't I hear somewhere that this season we have taken on someone specifically to be in charge in charge of loans? Given what looks like pretty sensible loan business so far (going out, at least), that doesn't sound too far fetched.
Guys, hold the press, Leventhal has just tweeted that apparently Dele-Bashiru is joining Reading on loan! Another great exclusive for The Athletic.
Good move for all involved. Hopefully he stays fit and shines for them, so we’re confident he can do a job for us in the Championship next season.
You jest, but there's one big nugget of info he's announced, and that's the recall clause in January. It might be a load of ******** a la Cucho lol, but I think it's sensible, see how he's getting on and then maybe think about bringing him back, especially with Louza and Etebo jetting off in December
In the league... But has played in cups too both last season and previously (still small sample, sure) I like him, he's a decent young prospect just don't think he looks ready for a PL squad place as per the message I replied to.
Good move for him. If he’s able to put together a season with regular appearances, I’d like to think he’ll be an asset for us next season, whichever league we’re in.
Could be a good move for TDB, and hopefully he will have shown enough for us to invoke the January recall clause, and bring him into our 1st team squad for the rest of the season.
He doesn't need to - he's already cemented his place as a Watford legend with what we've seen to date.
Agree with most you, some really good loan moves so far. Are the loans to the lower reaches of foreign leagues for the likes of TBD more problematic now with work permit conditions or do we think we have actually seen the light?
Positive review of his debut. https://www.readingchronicle.co.uk/...sion-new-reading-fc-signing-tom-dele-bashiru/
Much more positive than his last game at the Madejski Stadium (sorry, the Select Car Leasing Stadium)
