Cleverley came across extremely well in his welcome interview - knowledgeable, articulate and measured. There's clearly an astute head on his shoulders. Perhaps it would be folly to read too much into one exchange at this point, but watching him gave me hope that we could end the season with a good deal more optimism than we have so far been predicting, or indeed experienced for quite a while.

You'll never ever ever beat Quique's technical area attire. He was the alpha and the omega. An eternal sartorial flame. The Clevs must worship at his altar or fall.

Always been a fan of Cleverley from his loan days so fully behind him. It’ll be weird not wanting them to lose but I’ll deal with it.

Or he's incredibly cheap as they've kept him on the same contract as working for the u18s but dangled a carrot of 'look at the opportunity you've got, bet you didn't think you'd get that eight months after retirement'...

Would like nothing better than him turning out to be ace but just don't think we're set up for anyone to succeed.

I can’t imagine he’s on the same contract. Anyone who’s ever acted up in any work situation would have to be pretty dense not to demand more money in return. Even if it’s just a per match bonus for every game he’s in charge of the first team surely he’d be getting something extra?

I’ll always remember Clevs for steering Lloyd in the right direction towards the Rookery when he scored that goal against QPR. Let’s hope he’s as successful in steering the current crop of players in the right direction now!

I'll be really disappointed if he doesn't go with the 2018 era Southgate waistcoat look.

Bonus points if he adds a top hat to complete the ensemble.

Great interview despite him calling the Premier League the 'Premiership' - only 23 years behind the times there TC!!!

I mean, if you’re gonna be pedantic about my post and that’s all you got from it, says more about you than me really.

Every single new manager says all the right things at the start and sounds impressive, unfortunately thats the easy part, lets face it, he’ll probably be crap, regardless of some nice words. But this is where we are now, back full circle with the only chance of achieving anything even slightly above the mundane is to apoint a complete unknow with no experience like Aidy, Rogers, Malky, Dyche etc. and hope they can somehow elevate us above the mediocrity or even sub-mediocrity that the type of experienced manager we’d now be fishing for would all but guarantee us. Thankfully it worked plenty of times in the past, but talking the talk at the begging has absolutely no bearing on it.

Please please please just let him introduce some entertaining football

it’s bad enough that I hate our owners and what our club has now become…but to go watch the dross that is served up every week is becoming testing

Given our games coming up not sure we see much of the ball ?

Attacking football v Leeds /Ipswich/Southampton will probably just see us get picked apart when we lose possession.

Not that sitting back and being defensive will make a lot a of difference!

im no statistician but I would say that our ball retention whilst playing slowly from the back has been awful. Inject some energy and pace into the side. Play Dennis down the middle. What could go wrong?

No, I understand that “Top Cat” cat food is no longer on sale, so even the BBC can call him “Top Cat.”

I understand he's been banned from any broadcast appearances due to being a senior member of an OCG.

So far from the video from the club he is giving some of the younger lads a chance to train with the first team and is trying to implement a pressing game.

Charlie Davis (midfielder) and Albert Eames (defender) were the two being 'welcomed' by the others. Jack Grieves was the third of the trio.

Eames is the interesting one as he's played right-back for the under 21s, so it looks as though the TDB experiment could be coming to an end.

Thanks Oxhey! Was Eames the slight lad with black hair?

Pressing game sounds good but surely the players are too knackered to successfully implement now ?

TC=BOss Cat if you like, or GC Gaffer Cat.

TC will always be Top Cat to me with a run of more attractive footie, goals and wins.

As long as he outwits the dim sycophant CEO SD (Benny) and the alley custodian who thinks he knows it all GP (Officer Dibble).*

*for those of a certain age who saw TC in his prime…
