You're the only person who's doing so.

So what are real supporters exactly?

Don’t get me wrong I am fully in support of standing and singing in a defined area and think it would be a great idea so those who want to can. If you look back you will see I have stated that the atmosphere was better before all seated stadiums as the terracing was “unreserved” and therefore people could choose where to stand and with whom they wanted. My issue is with the attitude of some people who think standing and singing is the only way to watch football and those who do not are not real supporters.

I find it strange the level of abuse being dished out by the “real supporters” to those who do not want to stand all the time and them saying they are not showing any commitment to the team or support. Yet these same dedicated committed supporters could not be bothered to contact the club to move their seats during the Cardiff experiment, does this not show a lack of commitment to the cause. Lots of time spent moaning but couldn’t be bothered when something was done?

    Eh? Moog hasn't, you have.

Do not representatives of the club read our Forum so should be aware of these issues?

I also thought there was a focus group re ticketing/atmosphere issues at the vic and because of this the Cardiff 'experiment' took place. If so would be interested to hear the views of the people involved.

I stood up at the start of the game to toast my fellow hornets. Some pimply oik shouted "sit-daahn" - as a middle aged, middle class supporter I don't expect this sort of behaviour at Association Football, I nearly choked on my glass of vintage Chablis. I'd even purchased a new yellow silk handkerchief for the occasion.

    Outraged, Hertfordshire.

It's worth noting about the whole game that of the two teams it was much more important for Palace to win than us, their fans had a sense of this, they'd ether go up, claim their 140 mil over the next year and be able to sustain their club (if any of them believe they'll be able too stay up they're delusional) or stay in the championship for a very uncertain season, they'd have been much more likely to 'do a leeds' whereas we all knew that if we stayed down then next season will probably only be an improvement, we lacked an urgency i feel. As far as atmosphere is concerned the game taught me this, a good atmosphere starts with each and every one of us, next time i go to a game, and i want to sing, i'll sing on my own if i have to.

Just to clarify, the Cardiff game sold 1,475 tickets for the experimented "singing section" for that game.

And I was one of those who would have moved across from Lower Rous but I couldn't figure out on the website how to do it.

By virtue of your reply and dislike of my post you publicly presented yourself as doing the same, hence my ditto reply.

But you make a fair point and I ought to have made it clear to the club, perhaps by including a disclaimer, that I was conveying the consensual opinion of forum users and drawing them to the evidence by posting a link. Oh hang on ...

We live in a democracy ... feel free to email the club your opinion if mine bothers you that much.

Ironically your comment above makes the point that someone has to DO something for things to change. I'm not for sitting on my a**e hoping that change will just happen but maybe you are?

You're right, I'll drop them a quick line to explain the concept of an internet open forum just in case they're thinking WFCForums has an Executive Board, institutional stakeholders and shareholders.

No, this is interesting. Andre the Giant used to be too big to take the bus to school and was driven there by a helpful neighbour, who was Irish Nobel winning author, Samuel Beckett.

Think we all need a break from football. Fair play to Hollywood & Blahblahblah & others who are trying to improve things atmosphere wise. I too have been watching since 72 & seen it all . Petulant arguments will get us no where & the continual laughing stock of football supporters throughout the 4 divisions. See you next season chaps.

with all seater stadiums, and the obvious absence of a terrace where you can naturally gravitate to an area which suits (same place where you meet your own mates each week etc), then i believe unreserved seating is the way forward.
some areas or blocks of the ground could be designated 'unreserved' even though you have an ST for them. i think this would be a good start.

The club allowed ST holders and other fans to switch to the VR Stand for our game vs Cardiff to help create an 'atmosphere'.

We could go the other way, rather than focus on unreserved seating/ standing areas, have an area of the rookery converted to premier seating, comfy armchairs, waitress drinks service, for the middle class (normal) supporters ( call it the hornets nest or the golden spot) then the plebeians could stand somewhere else and jump and growl away from us , downwind if possible. Gradually as entropy takes its toll, if left unrepaired their area would become standing anyway as the plastic chairs fell apart.
