Following our promotion to the premier league, Samuel Jackson has released a message for fans of AFC Bournemouth:

There have been 2 big benefits of this season 1) if we'd stayed up last season we might have been relegated this season 2) we've been able to build a new team without the extra pressure and ability of PL football. This team will be much better equipped to play together in the prem after playing together with the new leadership structure from the Bristol game onwards.

Yes but in that case, we could have had promotion to look forward to next season, rather than another relegation:-(

What a difference a week makes! I shall be hoping for a Swansea win today following a Wednesday one in the earlier game.

The only interest left in the Championship now is who goes down. It would be hilarious if Wayne Rooney's Derby is one of them.

Well one thing may be decided in just under three hours’ time.

If Wednesday lose this early kickoff they are down, if they draw they stand a chance as they play at Derby next and final game and they have the same goal difference.

Trouble is that may not be enough, because I can’t see even a knackered but fighting Rotherham failing to get at least 43 points with the fixtures they have next (Blackburn at home and Scum away) and they are likely to finish ahead on GD. Have to win both really.

I’ve only just realised that is actually Sheffield Wednesdays badge now, I’m guessing it’s an old one they’ve bought back but it does look somewhat crap.

Remarkable to think that next season we will be two divisions above at least one big club from this division, plus Sunderland going by current form and a few others already below the Championship.

The way those clubs (especially Sunderland) have been mismanaged seems a more impressive achievement that what we’ve done in the other direction.

Portsmouth. Ipswich too and they are showing no sign of coming back up.

Sunderland's fall from grace is indeed painful for their fans. However, I feel more sorry for Bury. Bolton almost went the same way too. The way finances and club management are run for smaller clubs needs looking into. I know some clubs are well run
and have good support, that's great, but there are some who are close to the brink especially with Covid etc.

Fans' hopefully returning to stadiums next season will be a massive boost - and I really hope it happens. I always wonder if Watford supporters would of done a "buy the club" sort of rescue operation had the Administration happened when we were so close
to the edge. Players' taking a pay cut helped stave it off before the Pozzo's bought us. We need to try and watch our bank balance more this time, try to get rid of our debt, then hopefully we can look forward to a more prosperous future on and off the field. My heart goes out to other clubs who are facing the same problems.

And long may it continue, tough for the fans of these clubs sure, but it would be (even more) boring if the leagues sorted themselves in order of club size. Outside of the PL money (and of course Covid aside) these clubs have a natural advantage over the smaller clubs alongside them, as they have larger fan base to leverage. The last thing we want is for these sleeping giants to suddenly become well run operations.

Crucial save their for Wednesday. Could it be sign of a better second half? That was truly an end of season affair.

By all accounts the way Wednesday have been playing so far it looks like their fate could be decided already at one point or other this afternoon. That penalty give-away was Lazaar/WTE-esque.

I can see a useless and uninspired 0-0 before Derby get a point to send them down.

While I'm not sure who I'd trust out of those two going into a shootout, surely Derby have to get something against Swansea's rezzies? Come on Rovrum, get something against Blackburn, and beat L*ton while you're at it!

Derby are in an awful rut of form, at the worst possible time. I can honestly see Swan Dive's B team beating them today. That would give Sheff Wed a glimmer of hope going into the final game. However, I think Wycombe will def go down today. Rotherham
could well be on the brink too.

To relegate Sheffield Wednesday anyway, Rotherham still in the mix

Derby v Sheff Wed on the final day looks like it will be a vital game. If Sheff Wed win they could stay up at Derby's expense. Does depend if Rotherham drop points too. But all 3 relegation teams on the same points

No it’s combat rations. It might sustain you and you get used to them, but it’s not the best or what you want.

Football is going through a seismic realignment. The third tier could next season have Sunderland, Ipswich, Portsmouth, Wigan, Charlton, Sheffield Wednesday , Derby, and Bolton all multi season Premier League clubs. Cut off from the TV money, even with wealthy owners they will take an age to rebuild and to be in a position to challenge for promotion to the top division.

we are well out of the EFL. Let’s just hope we can get to 17 or better. The last thing we want is relegation back to the Championship.

Its ok. There are 2 or 3 things that make it exciting such as constant midweek matches and that many sides can acheive the play off places giving it competition. Quality wise it is clear that its somewhat behind and we can forget about seeing players like Pedro, Richarlison, Deulofeu or Sarr putting on a yellow shirt if we stayed in it.

It doesn’t have the best quality players but it provides the best entertainment. The PL has the best quality players and is a snooze fest.

Yep. But we scored more memorable goals had more memorable games, had a squad that was able to win an fa cup semi final and beat all the top 6 bar Abu Dhabi. Maybe something about us this season or no fans present makes it an unfair comparison but thia season has not been that memorable despite promotion.

It's not been memorable because even when we've won, usually we haven't been clearly the better side, bar a couple of great performances.
