No, AVB was trying to get rid. Instead he ended up getting fired and Chelsea with Drogba won the Champions League.

Btw, any lampard haters, I take it you watched the game last night? Superb. As was Cahill.

People say they hate Terry and Cole for theiroff field behaviour which is fair enough but are we going to start disliking Deeney because he has admitted beating somebody up for no reason?

All clubs have thier idiots as players...its what happens when a load of young men earn millions and have had everything done for them from a young age plus so much spare time (not all want to play golf)

My love of Barcelona comes from me being half Spanish, so yes, if England don't win it, I would love to see Spain lift the trophy once more.

I actually like this post, and also despair when I read so many anti-English comments from our own fans. I don't particularly like Terry and many of the England players indiviually, but when they represent England I get fully behind them, NOT wishing they will fail.

Chelsea were spellbinding in the Champions league, totally defying logic to win it. It was watching a Rocky film when you knew the opposition was always bigger and better, but the underdog survived everything thrown at him to end up winning.

I really enjoyed watching last night, especially seeing Schweinsteiger missing his penalty and blubbing like a baby. Great stuff

Spain with it style? I'm pretty sure they scored 1 goal in every single game of the World Cup?

Well done Chelsea. Their name was obviously written on that cup from the beginning. To win it the way they did was simply unbelievable. The ending to the Premier League and Champions League this season has been superb for the neutrals such as myself.

I wonder if this strange season will continue to the Euros? I think there is more chance of Watford winning every game next season than England winning Euro 2012, but then I thought the same of Chelsea and Man City's chances about 6 weeks ago!

He's still not the nicest human being going, but he does a lot of good. Saved a local club going out of extinction, helped this youngster in the article (READ IT) and numerous work for charities.

One thing I will not have though is that Terry is a racist. He has played consistently with many players of different nationalities. Troy Deeney is not a thug, but he made a mistake. Those saying Terry is a racist, should also be suggesting that Deeney is a thug who consistently beats people up.

    Perspective.

It's because Liverpool went crying to UEFA after they beat Milan as they were 5th in the league and out of the competition...

What I meant was there isn't a European Cup competition as I know it. I know the trophy is still the European Cup :)

Agree it should go back to a straight knockout plus there shouldn't be any seeding.

That it isnt. Uefa have in effect squeezed the European super league through the back door & hoped we hadnt noticed.

You'd be surprised how many people dont make any link between the Champions League and the old European Cup. I had this conversation with several people on facebook yesterday.. mainly friends from school who i dont recall being massively into football back then but are suddenly the most ardent of fans!
One comment i saw from a friend of a friend was about how come the Champions League dident design their own trophy instead of ripping off the European Cup trophy

Oh, you mean like Fat Frank and his mates filming their gang bang exploits in Spain? Or when he abused a bunch of stranded Americans on 9/11 at Heathrow?

Lovely guy eh? Will never support an England side containing the likes of him, Gerrard, Terry - who get their lawyers to help them avoid fines/prison/bans. They are above all of us, they do not need my support. Which is just fine by me. When the Golden Generation **** off, I'll give a crap about England again. At least that **** Cole actually performs for England.

Chelski *****. £1bn underdogs. Against Bayern.

On the one hand you come up with some criticisms of the modern game, yet you follow an international team who have done more to disgrace the global game than any other over the years. Cheating, off the field antics and just all round loathsomeness has been the Argentine forté for decades.

I never heard any criticism about the manner of Greece's euro victory, perhaps I was deaf to it, being a semi-Hellene. However, they won it like Chelsea did, the hard way. Of course, Barcelona may point to their football looking prettier, but history doesn't remember pretty teams, it remembers winners. Chelsea could have tried to pass Bayern and Barcelona off the park and then gone home. Where is the glory in that?

You can accuse Chelsea of buying success, but Barcelona, what, they just pay their players in buttons and the pride of wearing the shirt? Same for Bayern? Let's not pretend that any of the clubs in this stage of the competition are doing anything other than buying success.

As for the argument about Liverpool and Man Utd, that's just plain old aristocratic entitlement. To me, it's no fairer that Man Utd can spend 40m on a player than Chelsea can. Man Utd were just fortunate enought to be in the ascendancy when football took a turn for the worst under the Premier League. Prior to that, football worked in cycles. Great managers built great teams and ruled for an era, however, once Man Utd had established themselves at the top of the money tree, they had the opportunity to ensure that they could afford to stay at the top again and again. Of course, credit goes to Fergie for keeping them there and not allowing them to do a Liverpool and slip out of the big money, but it's completely unfair that they're awarded so much more money than teams who have to compete against them on the same football field.

And for the record, I loathe Chelsea, but I also hate Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Inter and many others. Don't hate the player, hate the game. The game is corrupt. The system is unfair. Chelsea are no worse at exploiting it than the rest of the fat cat "aristocracy" of European football who have ensured that we'll never see a Leed, Notts Forest, Derby, West Ham, Bolton, Preston, Aston Villa or any other of 40 clubs I could mention, ever winning the league title again.

Some utter **** I hardly know from the office just said to me "you're a Chelsea fan aren't you"? Dispatched with appropriate aggression.

There's a Spurs fan upstairs taking the result particularly badly today. My 2 fellow hornets have been emailing insults against lu*on in LARGE font sizes. Today is a good day.

I agree with you, but I don't think he said anything wrong in that particular interview. Remember he's just won the European Cup, with all the high energy and emotions that brings.

You have no idea what sort of abuse he's probably taken from Arsenal fans about moving to Chelsea. His decision has been justified time and time again. Similar situation to Nasri now

Must hurt the Arsenal fans to hear first Narsi then Cole sticking the boot in.

TBF to both...they moved and have won something unlike Arsenal.

The Arsenal fans have only Arsene Wenger to blame.

If he'd pulled his finger out his arse and spent some serious cash, Cole and Nasri probably wouldn't have left as Arsenal would have been challenging for honours. To make it worse though, Wenger sold his best players to other clubs in the same division. No matter how you look at it, I really think that was Arsenal's loss, whatever money they made from it.

I think its a simple case of he hasn't really replaced them apart from with youngsters who are either injury prone or not ready yet.

Surely in today's day and age, a manager who tries to build a team without spending wads of cash, who play a certain way and who has stuck to an ethos of giving young talent a chance and unearthing undiscovered gems who go on to become world stars is to be lauded?

Arsenal will rise again and when they do, fair play to them.

As much as I can't stand them you have to give Chelsea enormous credit for their achievment, to overturn a 3-1 1st leg deficit against Napoli, to come back from 2-0 down in the Nou Camp with only ten men and then win in Bayerns back yard in the final is remarkable.

It was Terry being allowed to lift the trophy that totally spoilt the night, not because of the racist controversy, innocent until proved guilty and all that, but because he was banned for the final because of his total indiscipline.
I remember the 1985 FA Cup final, Man U v Everton, Kevin Moran played in that final and got sent off, Utd won 1-0 and he wasnt even allowed to collect a winners medal, never mind go up with the team to receive the trophy.
