Shouldn't let it happen but im done with this club and fans. Twitter or X as its now named has been embarrassing for the whole world to see today tonight really toxic. I have called out those on both sides of arguments. My mates who support other clubs have seen it its embarrassing. Im at the point i no longer wish to go to our games, i dont give a crap whatever happens. im even all fans out. This club has lost what made it a great club to support. I had a 6th generation ready to join it but now i dont want to bother, when the current lot argue like little 6 year olds who lost a balloon. Anyway two non league games to look forward to tomorrow and Saturday where the club and fans will appreciate me more.
Yea that lot down the road on it. Now that really is it for me. and by the way my friends best describe me as sarcastic not whiney https://twitter.com/ltfc_jt/status/1764780515490468344?t=SVCRYNOs9-TG3H5-Xm9YUQ&s=19
Well I agree if fans are starting to post embarrassing stuff on Twitter I’m with you. That’s when you really know it’s time to stop supporting your football club. Or maybe it’s the time to stop looking at Twitter ?
Or just realise social media is a cesspit where being a moron is algorithmically advantageous and avoid it like the plague.
You're naive in the extreme if you think our fans are any different to any other club's fans in this regard
Despite what you may read on various sites online, nobody, absolutely nobody gives two sh*ts about us. Losing a cup final 6-0 and waving flags on national TV is what should trigger people, not an instantly forgettable spat on tw4tter.
As had been said, Twitter is a cesspit and a magnet for the deranged and the utter dregs of society, it doesn’t matter if you’re a fan of Watford or tiddlywinks, you’d be thinking the same thing if you use it for any sort of serious resource. I only have an account so I can view things people send me, but anytime I go on there to do that my feed is just full of utter crap that is designed to wind people up. Its sole purpose is to drag you in by showing you stuff that will trigger you and get you to engage, adding to the binfire, don’t fall for it.
lol it's twitter, it's not real, also why are grown adults acting like children and having tantrums on here/social media over something so insignificant?
Social media probably represents less than a quarter of our total fanbase. Half of our fanbase probably don't even go to games as often or at all anymore for various reasons. Fans' come and go as will the generations who will replace what we have right now. Gino isn't helping getting the fanbase on his side with repeated poor business and financial decisions and less and less fans' will attend in the future until we end up like Wigan Athletic numbers of fan attendance. Most of what is written on social media is done to create a reaction for clicks/likes. Any truth in a statement is usually backed up with facts. But that is just my personal assumption, not fact.
Just ignore social media mate, it's a cesspit. Your life will be much better for it, just a small minority throwing poo at each other mostly. Fair enough going to non-league, I can endorse that, but despite all the turd going on you can never support another club or stop supporting the club you love. Just doesn't compute to me that. Fine don't go anymore and burn a few shirts and programs if it makes you feel any better, but you are locked in.
A general tip - not just related to Watford - is to just log off all social media for a week. I did that a while ago and never logged back on. Life is much better without social media, unless you're actually using it for something useful like keeping in touch with friends and family. Twitter/X is just destructive noise and I can't think of anyone who actually needs it.
Sounds like when the missus says "I'll never drink again", but wakes up with a Bloody Mary for breakfast
As I understand it, That Rupert bloke decided to do yet another podcast type phone-in thing and tried to bait Luther about Ukraine. Luther (as much as we think he’s a legend) took the bait, as he increasingly seems to be doing - and called Rupert a ‘bigot’. Which in turn meant Rupert called Luther ‘Hamas’… Sprinkle in some fans doubling down on recent homophobia at games - and I believe there were direct slurs aimed at a young bisexual fan on this stupid thing last night too. All in all, just mental behaviour. And yes, it’s a cesspit. It’s certainly should not be enough to make fans walk away from the club, especially given the parties involved. But it does show, hiding behind twitter profiles etc notwithstanding, the club is currently doing an awful job of safeguarding fans etc.
I congratulate you for your bravery on coming out about your feelings. So many these days are too proud to express themselves in such a heartfelt way. I will say a prayer for you. Lots of love WM
I use Twitter/X but have never knowingly stumbled across Ron's posts or any of these other nobodies. They're easy enough to avoid.
Think it's a bit of a stretch to say it's the club's responsibility. They'd do well to tell Luther not to engage with these ******s but otherwise it's just the nature of social media that you get this sort of thing happen. The club aren't hosting it or endorsing it and I doubt X would give a hoot if they reported it.
I meant more about the lad who was abused at the away game and has subsequently had that abuse followed up on Twitter. I think it’s fair to say the club could be doing more.
When it comes to the club supporting their own fans after incidents away from the Vic I think the phrase "washing their hands of any responsibility" fits well.
Just delete twitter, I've been far happier since doing so. I'd probably delete this if it weren't for the dramatic hissy fits. And probably delete Facebook once it stops showing me pics of Sydney Sweeney.
It seems quite pathetic that you are so concerned about what people are saying on social media and the opinions of people that support other clubs that you will stop supporting your football club.
