I don't believe one takeaway a week is excessive and at least i'm doing by bit for local business if not my waistline.

How often do people on here order order a takeaway or get delivered?

    Just curious as to responses.

About 80% of Friday nights end up dropping into the chinese after pub.

It really depends on what you order, often takeway food is pretty unhealthy but once or twice a week as long as you have a balanced diet elsewhere is OK with me.

someone who actually knows about healthy eating might have a different opinion though.

One or two a week is my norm, too lazy/drunk to cook being the main reason.

Once or twice a month we'll have a takeaway as a treat.

A couple a month is okay in my book. Nothing better than a chicken tawa and a load of papadums after a few pints.

The quality and nutritional value of take away varies vey much. Apparently the worst thing you can go for is a pita kebab, but fishNchips, McD and the like etc. are almost as bad.

Curries can be okay nutritrionally while pizzas aren't really food - it's just fat and quickly processable carbs.

I'd say once a week is too much if it's the bad stuff. Once or twice a month is fine. If you go for take away and add some veggies to the meal, suddenly you have something that isn't that bad. It's still not something I'd recommend every day but as long as you get the fibre and vitamins from vegetables you don't eat only fat and carbs.

I'd recommend you to watch SuperSize Me - the film about a guy who decides to eat nothing but McD for a month. It's is amusing, scary and educational.

i never get a takeaway if i can help it as i'm trying to save money, however when I'm drunk i might get a portion of chips or a pizza slice but that usually happens like once every two weeks

Probably once every two weeks or so.

Come home drunk, order pizza, eat pizza, go to sleep, wake up wishing you hadn't ordered a pizza.

Apart from the fat content what is wrong with fish and chips? Fish is ..well good for you and potatoes are high in fibre and a slow release carb as well as containing vitamins and minerals. So if you are having a takeaway choose the traditional British one. Or better still Pie and mash.

Both chips and mashed potato are high GI foods not slow release carbs, not to mention the pastry in the pie and the fish batter probably being made from refined white flour.

When an entire meal is deep fried it's a bit naive to say 'apart from the fat content...'

Sounds about right, though for me it's chips!! :forehead:

I reckon I get a takeaway curry once every two months on average as well.

Once a week.... Normally because Mrs Robodance & I are tired after work on a Friday evening...

I've recently been dipping into Papa Johns Pizza in the wake of the wonderfully motivational BOA programme and they are fine and dandy indeed...

A large portion of battered cod contains between 9.5 and 9.8 gramms of fat per 100g. Not good but not a disaster when compared to other take aways. Also, chip shop chips are cut chunkier than the Fast food equivalent and thus hold much less fat than say the Maccy D s version. You want a healthier version of fish and chips? Dont eat the batter. Job done.
Not quite so easy to do with KFC Kebabs etc.
The Spud not a slow release carb? We will have to agree to disagree on that one.

Can people stop giving kebabs a bad name. OK, the doner is generally a heart attack on a spit, but you can get a shish kebab. Diced pork, lamb or chicken breast, charcoal grilled and served with salad.

Every Saturday before the home game it's saveloy and chips for me.
Gone right off currys, they all seem to taste the same.
As for Chinese I always seem to want another one about 2 hours later even though I'm full.
Thai is the flavour of the month. My local is amazing the food is so fresh.
The only pizza for me is a Papa John's, their dough is far better than Pizza Hut.
