exactly this - if he could convert his scoops, turns & tricks in to wonder-assists...

I agree with you then. It wasn't pretty, but we were deserved winners. Sunderland could've scored, but we could've scored more.

We were always going to be under pressure when they were chasing the game from the first few minutes, but we had enough opportunities to hurt them on the break.

Not an obvious beauty, but like all premier wins, a thing of beauty in my eyes.

  3. Deeney on Goals On Sunday said Ketch had a go at Iggy for not squaring to him, gave the impression he thought Ketch was right to

How dare out captain think he knows better than poster on here :dismay:

If you look at some of the greatest goalscorer in the Premier League since its inception, they have mainly been greedy beggars that do little for the team but take the glory.

Shearer is the best example. Never tracked back, shot when he could but he is the Greatest scorer in Premier League history.

    They are needed

Of course they are needed. They are also unlikable.

I wouldn't swap ighalo for hardly anyone. But I wouldn't have his name on the back of my shirt either (if I owned a shirt that is)

When? I remember when Anya ran offside but what were the other occasions where there were OPEN GOALS for team mates to tap in?

I feel pity for you. You've tried to convince yourself that by going in to a match thinking we'll lose it will make defeat less painful but you seen to have forgotten the joy that comes from winning. If that is the case I'd suggest finding another passion in life. It is QSF job to be ultra critical after 3 wins out of 3, we should savour it.

  9. Meh!

    Meh! Pre-Dictator

    Woohoo - Win win win.

Game was a shocker. Neither team really controlled the ball well which I guess was down to the awful conditions. Neither midfield really held on to the ball well. Passes going astray all over the place.

Even despite their 2 or 3 chances at the end, they were never going to score, and let's face it, under Big Sam have only really managed wins via a lucky goal v Palace who dominated them, and playing 10 men v Stoke. They are on no such turnaround as everyone would have us believe, not yet anyway.

Defensively, they were poor. Really poor. We should have been out of sight in the first half. How we weren't 3 or 4 nil up astounds me. Iggy has been my prem captain for the last 2 weeks and he should have had a hattrick both weeks. Unlucky in the last 2 games but I feel we are only a few games away from his first premier league treble.

Not been one of Jurado's biggest fans recently but probably one of the better players to handle the conditions yesterday. Kept the ball well, chased back relatively well, and seems to be finding a bit more form. Still think there were a couple of times he could have laid in the killer pass but refused, preferring to go backwards instead. Starting to think he was not brought in to be the creative flair player some people thought, but more of a solid holding midfielder.

Deeney looked tired in the second half and seemed to fall out of the game a little. Thought it could have been close between him and Abdi being taken off as they both seemed shattered.

Nyom awesome again. Kept Watmore quiet to the point I think they switched him to the other flank at half time.

Gomez, oh my lord Gomez. What a save. Superb. How he didn't get any Fantasy Premier League bonus points is a question only the organisers can answer. As much as Iggy, he was responsible for the three points. Loved his quote after the game:

"I believe goalkeepers are like wine." You sir are more like a Champagne!

We are 7th in the league, playing superbly and likely to get even better - and yet some people choose to 'debate' Ighalo's like-ability… Give me strength!
An excellent performance yesterday - superb interplay in the first half and outstanding defensive effort in the second. Great atmosphere in the away end too. Confident of at least one win and a draw from the next four games. All this and Ighalo is a f***ing great bloke who's kind to his mum and buys all his clothes from Oxfam - what more could you wish for?

Another great 3 points, realistically only 4-5 games to stay up before the new year is a testament to the way Flores has got us playing. Liverpool will be a tough game but i think we may edge them.

Henry and Bergkamp would pass when the other was in a better position to score, it made them better players by doing so and a better team as a whole..

If Ighalo passed when others were in better positions it would make him a better player.

such as Ozil's square pass/assist to Ramsay today when he could have released a 50:50 shot himself

If only Ighalo could be more like Henry and Bergkamp. While we're at it Jurado needs to be more like Messi, Abdi like Zidane and Ake like Maldini. Craig Cathcart can be Craig Cathcart because he's the best centre back in the world right now, maybe ever.

Strikers are selfish. Always have been, always will be, and Odion is no worse than 95% of them. Even if he was, I'd say his record in 2015 (which defecates from a great height on EVERY OTHER STRIKER in English football's professional divisions) more than exonerates him.

No mate, I was saying that Henry and Bergkamp passed when another player was in a better position to score, a trait which made them better players.

All players can improve aspects of their game, don't get why people shouldn't point out where Ighalo could as it is a weakness of his that would improve his game.

If it was Troy in Kech's situation I would have completed agreed. But I have so little faith in Kech's goal scoring abilities and so much in Iggy's I feel his selfishness was justified

Anyway didn't mean to sound harsh - I used to be more pessimistic than optimistic but I realised each defeat was still just as painful regardless of my mentality before hand. It's right to hold the club to account and not to always believe everything is rosy if it isn't (e.g the bas years). As fans we will always be slightly fickle but for now we should be happy.

Just out of interest, who is the best in your opinion? Is there much of a consensus among those who were privileged enough to watch the team during the golden era?

I think you've gone too far to show your point on previous pages, but there is nothing wrong with the above.

I certainly don't find him deeply unlikeable, but I am always shocked at how I don't like him anywhere near as much as I should do, considering his scoring heroics.

If I was to chose a name on my shirt, he would probably be one of the last names which I would personally pick of those who played yesterday.

    Deeney
    Capoue
    Abdi
    Britos
    Gomes
    Anya
    Nyom
    Ake
    Cathcart
    Jurado
    Ighalo
    Watson

Well I know it's an obvious plump but John Barnes, whilst a little inconsistent at times, won so many games for us and just terrorised defences. Having been a supporter since 1976-77 he came along just when we were really hitting our stride in the early 80s and so often had 2-3 players on him it seemed to give the rest of the team that much more space! I know many here put Mo Johnston up there as the best out and out goalscorer we've had.

I guess it should be more of a best XI thinking about it as how do you determine if Tony Coton was a better player than Odion Igahlo?
