May be of some interest to some of the older ones on here. Although jazz/rock was not a particular favourite genre of mine, Steely Dan were unique and Can't Buy a Thrill was an early favourite album for me and I owned most of their albums since then and I listen to their "greatest hits" very regularly. Musically, just brilliant, and someone else that has been a big part of my musical 'life' has passed away. Sad for me. RIP Walter.
Terrible news. Growing up with two older brothers I was force fed Steely Dan and Yes. I never took to the latter, mainly due to Paul's endless repetition of 'Roundabout',which I still have nightmares about! Steely Dan however were then and remain my favourite band: brilliant musicians Donald and Walter and clever, some would say too clever lyrics. Walter had his demons, as Donald alluded to in his tribute and anyone that spent the '70s and '80s extolling the virtues of heroin may have anticipated an early demise. I'm off to Amazon to order all their back catalogue on CD that I have lost or misplaced. RIP Walter,it's a glamour profession!
RIP Walter. A true genius over such a long reign, the music will never die, Ricky wont lose that number - its Hey 19!
