Agree with you completely. Harry couldn't care less about owners losing money on transfers, but he must have been told that he needs to recoup as much as possible for Diakite or his ability to acquire players will be limited. Any player who went to QPR over the last number of seasons is on an inflated contract. We should make a take it or leave it offer and just move on if it is not accepted.
Well I hope that will be the approach. Hopefully we'll just steer clear of this player to be honest. Overpaid. And now can't get in a Championship squad despite being on monster wages.
Apparently he's on 40k and the contract runs for another 2 seasons after this. Bearing this in mind the chances of us getting him permanently will be zero.
Insane wages for the championship. Not sure how good this guy is or if he would be interested in coming to us. But, if those ITK at Watford feel he would be a good asset, offer to take him on a free transfer and we give him a 3 year contract for €15k per week (higher than our usual budget, but takes into account the free transfer element of the deal). QPR negotiate a lump sum discounted payment with his agent to compensate him for the reduced wages. He gets a chance at first team football, we get a player for free (albeit on high wages), QPR save over €2m on wages on a reserve team player. "Everyone's a winner" as Del Boy would say.
Knowing modern footballers, most will just sit in the reserves on the £40k a week rather than negotiate a discounted payoff with QPR!
£40k would be a decent annual salary. £40k a week is simply outrageous and even that is dwarfed by other wages in football. But you are most likely right. Although I would imagine that it would be very frustrating for some not to be playing, no matter what they were earning.
http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/watford-warned-diakite-wont-come-6597889 According to this nearly £10k take home - so around £20k gross. A bit more affordable?
This site has him on £45k a week! http://www.givemesport.com/343467-qpr-how-much-money-are-the-flops-earning If Onuoha and Mbia are on £50k a week I'd be surprised if Diakite is on a wage that is half the next lowest player?
"The Hornets got turned down last week when they made a move for the 25-year-old who takes home close to £10,000-a-week." http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/watford-warned-diakite-wont-come-6597889
Yep I've seen that one. I'm just pointing out there are sources saying he is on £40k/£45k a week as well. Who knows what it is.
Binochio and Murray kept citeh quiet for an hour on Saturday, why do we need some overpaid QPR reject?
Typical Inbredknapp ploy to big up a player just before getting rid. QPR obviously want him off their payroll and if we hold our nerve and play him at his own game, we might get lucky with a take it or leave it bid right at the last minute.
Sky sports are claiming that we are close to finalising a move for Tozser AS WELL AS Diakite. Surely this is rubbish? There's absolutely no way we need to sign both.
Sky Sports sources understand Watford are in advanced talks to sign Daniel Tozser and Samba Diakite. Do we need Diakite?
Depends if the Diakite deal is a permanent. Also, it seems Sannino is involved in the Tozser talks so it looks like he will be having input when it comes to player recruitment. He likes a tactically defensive set up it seems, options would only help his cause.
Sky are saying that we are close to signing both Diakite and Tozser... EDIT: Sorry, just seen the same post above!
Madness to chase these 2 after the performance on Saturday, it showed where we are in need to cover & that is in the final 3rd where we need options & movement ! Neither of these 2 signings will do that. Nani you **** go focus on getting us a striker with either pace or good movement
You mean the final third we managed to exploit and get in behind......TWICE?! Let us not forget that playing a Championship side is very different to the likes of Man City. You have a lot more time on the ball in the Premier League and as shown on Saturday we couldn't keep the tempo going for 90 minutes despite it being a cracking performance. When you play football like Watford do (the good bits) and commit players forward a defensive midfielder is going to save your back later in the game. You can't base our needs after one game against a team that isn't in our league. Also with Iriney out, we need cover. And when Iriney returns, we need options.
Chris, your point about Iriney is even more valid about Deeney ? as at least in CM we have some options, up front we have nothing that is proven at this level, just some chao that's been at the club 3 weeks & not played a single game ?
So why would a striker with pace or good movement replace Deeney? Deeney is doing the job that he has to with whoever he plays with. His performances have been massively inconsistent but that all depends who he is partnered with. When playing with Forestieri he has a more central role and that allows him to focus more on his own game. When partnered with Fabbrini, Deeney is dragged all over the place trying to hold the ball up and allow the team to catch up with play because Fabbrini drops so deep. Deeney doesn't have the best movement off the ball but he makes that up with his strength and hold up play. The way I see it is that Ranegie will be partnered with Deeney at some stage making Ranegie the "target man" and allowing Deeney to make himself free like the 2nd half of last season when Vydra was the focus of the opposition defences. So basically, if we take the focus (and massively high expectations and criticisms) off Deeney he'll have a field day in front of goal. As for your point about options in midfield, Sannino likes a defensive set-up and we lack options in defensive midfield. The club stated at the start of the month we were looking to strengthen in BOTH areas. Just because the focus of all reports are about the DM position doesn't mean there isn't work being done on the others.
Are you referring to the game in which we scored 2 against Man City at the Etihad as evidence that we need to improve drastically in the final 3rd?
His workings out may be wrong, but the answer is correct. We need a striker or two. And a left back, but I've given up on that.
