I very much doubt he has the power to sack Gino.

He was due to fly out but Easyjet cancelled his flight out of Bristol! decided to stay at home and watch Hornet matches from last season!, now trying to get a flight to anywhere to try and clear his head!

Looks like AL has the first interview with Edwards. It’s dropping at 8am tomorrow on The Athletic.

EDIT: Must have misread the Tweet. It has already been posted. Must have been 8am today!!

The WD18 boys have also been given access to an exclusive interview with Rob.

I think he comes across in the Athletic interview as a really sensible and engaging person who talks a very good game.

There will be many obstacles put in his way, unfortunately probably most of them by the club itself, but I was left with the impression that IF he’s left to actually run the team, IF he really will have a say in transfers and IF the club are able to say goodbye to any players who really don’t want to be a part of next season, then next year could be a rather refreshing one.

Just watched the WD18 interview and Edwards is very impressive. I really like what he stands for but it’s only going to work out with him if he’s given time and he’ll only be given time if he wins football matches.

He could be the perfect antidote to this disconnection we all have and if he’s allowed to build something Watford could really be on the right path. But the end result has to be winning football. If we struggle, even with good ideals and a stronger connection it doesn’t add up to very much.

However, we have to believe at this stage that Edwards is the real deal, and if he is, exciting times could well be on the horizon.

I like the guy. I hope they give him a half decent squad to give him a chance, and don't look to make a change if we are mid table after 15 games. I fear old habits die hard though.

Between the WD18 interview and Adam's interview he comes across as someone who is very switched on and eloquent in how he's going to do it. Good first step but we need to see our recruitment reflect this. Promotion must not the be all and end all of our season.

Reminds me a bit of Aidy when he first came to the club in 2005.

Youthful exuberance and has plenty of ideas on inputs.

I thought he spoke well, I was impressed with his mannerism, and he seemed to say the right things. I didn't realise that Graham Taylor gave him his debut at Aston Villa, and I thought that was a nice touch. He gives the impression that he knows what he wants from his team and how to achieve it.

Exactly my take on it too. Aidy mark II. Hopefully the season will go as well is his first season.

Sounds like a nice guy but it’s all pretty meaningless, they all sound good at the start and get us all excited.

Quite - unless he starts well any comments about the future are worthless .

This. Fans were wetting themselves when the club released some training footage of Roy & Ray shouting at the players in their first week.

Edwards does seem like a decent chap though and he has my fullest support until at least 2 weeks into the season. After the 2 week honeymoon period is over, reality will hit.

Does seem like a better communicator and more upbeat character than most.

And at least he's the polar opposite of the last miserable fun sponge whose message seemed to be: we might stay up, might not, who knows, who cares?

Good interview seems level headed, doesn't remind me of Boothroyd but has a bit of Sir G.T. in him!

One of my favourite managers in recent times, dealt an awful hand by injuries but kept us up comfortably.

Couldn't be arsed to learn English, smoked outside the ground, was prepared to take on Deeney, picked two keepers on the bench for the lols, bought all the away fans a beer at Everton, triggered some Doris into making that homemade sign.

Right decision for him to leave but a proper character.

Although the second half of the season was dreadful, you're absolutely right! Dealt a really bad hand with injuries....think he'd have had us finishing around 10th before the rot set in!

Certainly beats looking at that haggard old scrotum necked curmudgeon that was last in the dugout:

Actually I was really excited about his appointment after reading about what he achieved at Napoli with his 3-5-2 system. However, whatever the problems with injuries I still consider him our worst Pozzo manager after Hodgson. Finished 17th with overall a better set of players than Flores, and the number of good performances after Everton at home could be counted on the fingers of one hand. Injuries can’t entirely excuse the lack of cohesion and fight, particularly in away games, and at times a distinct shortage of quality (Sunderland away being the most notable example). His tendency to over-complicate things (at least for the players and mix of nationalities we had - perhaps we would have benefited by still having Abdi in the squad?) and inability to really master the English language were in the end his/our downfall.
