    No such word, it's made up like most of the rubbish from the Daily Star. They could of just said "Boffins" which attends to both genders. I suspect it was done to make the headline standout more.

    There was a news story the other day that scientists don’t like the word “boffins” and want “newspapers” such as The Star (don’t really think The Star deserves to be described as one but anyway..) to stop using the term, so I imagine this is The Star’s “hilarious” response.
