when I booked my train tickets the guy who served me lived in Newcastle and suggested the following pub. The beauty of this place is that it should be easy for everyone to get too. Its just outside the main line station on the right hand-side, anyone flying can get the metro to the central station and its then only a 10 -15 min walk to the ground for everyone accept PYA who will get a cab taking a couple of minutes traffic dependant. A large staircase with a beautiful stained glass window at the top leads to an upstairs bar and eating area. There are two further bars downstairs. The rear ground floor bar is bright and airy due to a perspex roof. There are plenty of aluminium tables and chairs in this area. Two smaller lounge areas leading off this have comfortable seating and a cosy atmosphere and are popular with diners. The other bar is huge with a high ceiling and tall pillars that are a notable feature. There is some seating to the front and plenty of standing room. This is featured in the picture shown. Also near to the entrance is a small library styled non smoking room where you can relax and enjoy a drink. Live sports including live football is now shown on a large drop down screen in the main bar area. The pub is very popular bar with mixed clientele of students, locals, business crowd and tourists and is extremely very busy at all times.
