But at, I think that joke has been done even more often that ‘Messi signs for Watford’ and it’s just as crap.
Seems to have been a very underwhelming pre-season from my perspective. I personally like to have a bit of momentum to take into the season but we seem to have none and I have absolutely no idea who will start against Villa or even be at the club come the end of the transfer window. I would have thought the hierarchy would have not wanted a repeat of last years squad uncertainty and unrest but history repeats itself yet again
I remember the days when people didn’t even check pre season scores. These days they dissected as if they were a frog, and ridiculous absolutist conclusions are drawn. Absurd. I mean ‘Perzi owt! Fo away Muniz!!’
Ridiculous wage = ridiculous fee to go with it. I think he's definitely a £35/40m player but not what Palace are after. He'll just run down his contract I would have thought
I think everyone should be expecting relegation. I've got no problem with anyone being positive as long as they're realistic. I saw someone on Twitter the other day say we could finish 10th!!!
We kind of had that first time around with QSF, he did have a bit of luck with Igahlo, but he also had us tight and organised and hard to beat at the start. He eschewed more talented players in favour of players who would do what he asked them to do within a system and it worked. With Munoz, other than being nice to the players it’s difficult to know what his system and approach actually is? We only played 433 when it became impossible not to.
On paper Bachmann Kiko Sierralta TE Rose Etebo Hughes Louza Dennis JP Sarr is good enough in my opinion. Unfortunately we have the same captain who 'led' us to relegation 2 years ago. 2 years ago Doucs and Dawson were both liabilities and Sarr only played well between QSF being sacked and the covid break. I'm not saying you are wrong just that you might be. We'll have a clearer view of the situation after the villa game. Hopefully it won't be a repeat of Brighton 2019.
No one cares about the results. Are you honestly not worried at all by the state of the midfield, the sluggish fitness and Munoz seemingly not clear on his approximate best team? If not then fair play, but I think we will struggle the first few games basis of this.
So a full Elland Road roaring on Leeds will make no impact on either the home or away team? Those special Anfield European nights would have been the same in an empty stadium? A toxic crowd has no effect on the confidence and performance of the players? Seems counter-intuitive to me, but you’re the expert.
If you think fans chanting in the stadium is comparatively anywhere near as important as things like cohesion between the actual players on the pitch or the fitness of the players, then you're a complete fool.
It’s actually more absurd than that. The atmosphere in the stadium is generally positive anyway. People just come on here to let off some steam but when it’s match day the team gets good support.
I didn’t say that, but it is a contributing factor. Many studies have shown improved productivity in happy workplaces.
Exactly, I've never booed the team at the stadium as I think it's counterproductive. However, I'll then come on here and whinge like a little bitch!
The highlights are up, but there doesn't appear to be the option to watch the full match on there yet.
Pre season is for trying out different players and formations. Munoz will have learned a lot. Admittedly more games would have been useful to find solutions but it baffles me that people think this match indicates how we will play against Villa next week.
We've played seven games before today, this game should absolutely have been what we're planning to do for Villa. You don't use the last game of pre-season to give Ken Sema a go in midfield to see what he can do while Louza gets ten minutes at the end.
Pre-season counts for nothing. It's not the same as league games and is never an accurate reflection of what will actually happen. However, I can't see us finishing over more than one or maybe two teams by the end of the season. It just seems such a rag tag squad, not even sure what the final squad is going to look like, with key players contracts up in the air. Again, it doesn't mean anything but I'm yet to see a season preview or bookies that doesn't have us in the bottom 2. Maybe Gino has just settled for being a yo-yo club - either until finances are stable, as a permanent way of doing things or getting the club into better shape to flog. Normally promotion comes with dreams and wild optimism, but I'm not feeling it.
You know who we missed today, Hughes. Sucks that we can’t get his deal sorted. we don’t need Thorsby or Yokuslu, we need a Hughes replacement. Someone who can get on the ball and make things happens. That’s what we were lacking today. Also let’s be happy no-one got injured.
It was noticeable last season we started winning when Hughes got back from injury. It wasn’t only Xisco taking over. That said we can’t afford to not put in a relegation clause. Personal view is that we are a championship club. We don’t have rich owners, and are big underdogs this year. As long as the players give everything they will have my support. I do think some of our supporters should be supporting a bigger club
