Christ what's the matter with you lot, Christmas pudding on the brain?

If you expect to win and you lose = negative
If you expect to lose and you win = positive

We would not expect to beat Arsenal (unless we inhabit a different universe like PYA) so not picking up 3 points is neither a positive nor a negative but met with expectations. Furthermore the performance was very good, the players contested and created. I enjoyed the match and didn't go home thinking 'why did I waste my Boxing Day watching that rubbish?'

I agree it was a shame to concede so late but you have to be honest about it - they just sliced us apart for that second goal - did you really expect to hang on to the draw?

For me befroe the match I was thinking draw. During the match the way we played I was thinking win. They were having no luck and certainly not firing on all cylinders. It's dissapointing to end up with no points again due to a slip up in the last few minutes. But to be fair it was what a realist should have expected.

Postivitve to take out of this and the last few games (sounding like Aidy now)

Boozer is looking quality? That away day to Swindon has really helped.
Shittu is and the rest of the defence is looking solid most of the time.
Rich is now a serious prospect.
Bangers is stepping up to the mark, if this continues could be a great player.

    Negatives
Lack of squad size, Shittu & Boozer out for a while? Jay whilst having good technical skills and ariel ability is showing a lack of experience.
We are going to find it difficult to get quality forwards in next week.

we were shyte hot yesterday - very proud of the performance. Inspired IMO. Great credit to the players - shame Richy wasn't in goal we would have won 1-0;)

we are down in my opinion and if we keep playing as we have we will go down fighting and the players will have played with the passion and desire that us fans expect. If you expect quality as well then you're living on a different planet. I am more than happy with the season thus far. There is such a vast difference in quality between he fizzy pop and the bankers leagues, we are just not ready for it yet. The season will be of great benefit to us though and especially Aidy who will learn masses from a season where his job is not in question. A bounce back as champons of the champonship, the further growth and development of our young squad and we will be better equiped for our 2008/09 in the pemiership.

We are just a bar of aero not a tin of quality street.

    U ornsssssssssssssssssssss

Lets be realistic for a moment?
Who can honestly say that before the game yesterday we had a hope in hells chance of taking it to arsenal least of all getting even a single point out of it?
I didnt for one, and im sure if you are all completely honest none of you did.
The fact of the matter is that we were very unfortunate not to get a point, it wasnt an error that led to their second goal as far as I am concerned it was very good football that we didnt have the quality to counter, that along with losing two of the most influential players on the pitch up to that point.
I for one think that the boys did us proud yesterday and even scoring against arsenal was a fantastic result in its own right.
I dont see it as a negative, though points would have been better obviously.

I see what you're saying! Although I feel Demerit could have dealt with Van Persie alot better! We all know how good he is on his left foot! Golden rule in that position is not to show Van Persie onto his left foot (his only foot)! If he shows him onto his right he has a tighter angle to score from, he doesn't generate the same pace or curl on the ball and we gain a point!

It's all learning curves though for players like Jay! Little do we forget he was playing non-league football 3 seasons ago!

I honestly thought we could get a point but my head did say a narrow Arsenal victory (see my thread from 2 days ago about score predictions)!

Arsenal's goal had been coming though to be fair! If it wasn't for Ben it could have been 3 or 4!

At that level with the amount of pressure that had been piling on us leading to it the goal was inevitable, it wasn't so much of a mistake as being outwhitted (given it was also a fantastic through ball from Walcott).. its expected with a player of van persies quality that he will out smart a player who only a few short years ago was playing for northwood, thats why he is on the big bucks and worth an extortionate amount more than any of our players.
Like you say, if it hadnt been for Big Ben, as i heard him referred too in the commentary yesterday, it could have been a lot worse.
I have to be honest and say that I bet against us in the V-bookie for the very first time (only because i had 34 vcash left til bankruptcy) and in live chat i predicted 3-1 to them, but i certainly didnt expect it to be such a hard fought game on our part.

I said to the bloke i was sitting next to yesterday that Arsenal's players are mentally a few yards quicker than ours! They seem to see things alot quicker than our players do...and like you says that's why they command expensive wages and transfer fees!

Great example of my previous point was Arsenal's first goal! Gav switched off and Gilberto peeled away to the back post...he read what was coming before Gav did!

You could argue both Arsenal's goals could have been avoided and then again you could suggest Arsenal's players are just light years in front of ours!

can i make a suggestion - i suggest Arsenal players are light years ahead of ours.
    Thank you:)

Agreed... it was great to see macca causing problems but again their experience showed the vast gap between the two teams at times... Ashley was obviously in their thoughts alot as I noticed more often than not he was kept out of the game by two or three of their players... that must be a big boost for him to know that he is considered that dangerous that he got so much attention.

I think Wenger has said a few times he likes Young and rates him highly!

Had a quiet game last night and like you say that's down to Arsenal paying him extra attention...perhaps this allowed Bouazza to get more joy?

Very much so... he seemed to have the freedom to make trouble and did he ever!!
I thought Smith had a fair game also.. the best he has had since his return in my book.. people were saying that after the goal he hardly did anything.. i dont agree.. he was involved in a few moves and did the important thing of scoring the goal.. something that we have struggled severly to do all season.

Its certainly up there as a possibility!!

I thought Noddy gave Clichy a torrid time first half, he roasted him! nice finish aswell!

I thought he left Mariappa abit exposed at times second half!

Was very impressed with Macca's work ethic/performance!
