Ok, this is a really outside shot in the dark type of theory but it has come to my attention that Watford reserves appear to have played a "behind closed doors" game against an American outfit of players assembled by an association known as Generation Addidas.

Info on this is as follows

Generation adidas is a joint venture between Major League Soccer and the United States Soccer Federation aimed to raise the level of young soccer talent in the United States. The program, sponsored by adidas, encourages early entry (without college graduation) of American players into MLS. Until 2005, the program was sponsored by Nike and was called Project-40.

Carlos Parra was the first Project-40 player when he signed with the league and was allocated to the New York/New Jersey MetroStars in 1997. Since then, the program had its shares of successes (Tim Howard, Josh Wolff, DaMarcus Beasley, Carlos Bocanegra, Bobby Convey, Eddie Gaven, and numerous others) and failures (Jamar Beasley, Nino Da Silva, Barry Swift, Maurizio Rocha, Judah Cooks, Martin Klinger, etc.).
Generation adidas players do not count against the MLS senior roster and usually earn a salary not much higher than the league minimum (although in several cases, most notably Freddy Adu, that is not the case). Entering into the program automatically classifies a player as "professional" and thus, disqualifies them from playing college soccer. As a result, Generation adidas players are also guaranteed scholarships to continue their college education should their professional career not pan out.
From 1998 to 2000, MLS entered a team of Project-40 players, supplemented by other MLSers who did not get much playing time, into the USL First Division.

Basically our reserve side lost to this bunch 3-0.... and im hoping there were one or two players that might have caught Aidys eye.

Report from "Paddock talk" as follows

"Midfielder Will John continued his impressive showing last Thursday during a
3-0 Generation Adidas victory over Watford Reserves in Watford, England.

John started the match and notched his second assist of the campaign when he
found Chicago Fire forward Chad Barrett open 20-yards from goal. Barrett
proceeded to bury a shot in the upper right corner of the goal.

John then exited the game in the 60th minute as Wizards forward Ryan Pore
entered the game. GA scored two goals while Pore was on the pitch en route
to the strong showing against Watford's reserve team.

John has started two games during the trip while Pore has started one.
Every position player has played in all three matches so far."

I read that too. It just went over my head. Seems completely random.

Hope they didn't play it at the Vic!! That pitch needs a winter break, not the players!!

The reserves didn't play last week did they, but the youth team did?

I guess it was a side thrown together of kids/reserves/may be even a couple of trialists.
