*Possible Hornets signings?* We Horns have been getting a bit agitated during the last 24 hours over the Marlon King issue, so I thought some light relief would help. Here's some of the more unlikely rumours concerning our club that I've found on the internet... Adie Boothroyd is chasing giraffe-legged centre-back Igor Slippinova to bolster the Hornets' defence. The 7'6'' Moldovan international had a difficult introduction to English football when he knocked himself unconscious on a "fire exit" sign at Heathrow Airport, but has since established himself as a regular in Shrewsbury's back-four. Sheffield United, Charlton and Fulham are also interested but a £1.4M bid with add-ons should seal the deal for Adie who is desperate for defensive reinforcements following Dan Shittu's departure for the African Cup of Nations with his wife, children and a suspiciously large amount of luggage. 38 year old midfielder Barry Scrote could make promotion-chasing Watford his 25th club during this transfer window. Hornets' boss Adie Boothroyd sees the veteran as the man to add some much-needed steel to his team's lightweight midfield. Scrote is currently surplus to requirements at Wigan but his combative qualities are not in doubt, with 47 red cards in a blood-spattered career. Sheffield United, Charlton and Fulham are also tracking the portly waddler. Perennial 4th choice striker Charlie Bigtime could be on his way to Vicarage Road, if Adie Boothroyd has his way. The Hornets' boss is resigned to losing star striker Marlon King to rivals Luton and is looking for a bone idle money-grabber to take his place. Bigtime, whose hobbies include "dogging" and "roasting", has failed to establish himself at West Ham, Villa, Newcastle or Middlesbrough, scoring 3 times in 97 appearances. However, he may be unwilling to step down to the Championship as his agent has told him he is "Premiership quality". Boothroyd faces competition from Sheffield United, Charlton and Fulham. Watford are on the verge of offering a contract to South Korean winger Hu Ar Yu. Yu first came to prominence with an eye-catching performance as an 87th minute substitute during South Korea's 2002 World Cup campaign, since when his agent has been touting him round pretty much every club in Europe. He has spent more time on trial than Joey Barton but has yet to find a club sufficiently desperate to sign him. However, he is "confident" that he has hit the jackpot with the Hornets, bearing in mind they were willing to spend good money on Steve Kabba this time last year. Sheffield United, Charlton and Fulham are not interested. COYH!
THe daily star learns that, Watford Manager Aidy Boothroyd is looking to sign US goalkeeper Robert Hatch to give competition to Richard Lee & Mart Poom for a starting place. "I've seen the Biopic Escape to Victory and the guy is super committed with some great natural ability" he enthuses.
