Seems to be doing fantastically, produced another fantastic save tonight: https://twitter.com/watdepre/status/1318281137916153856?s=21 Not a clue how he gets down to save that so quick!
Hope we get to actually see him play for us! Think the Swedish league ends in December, could we see him push Foster in January I wonder?
We will sell him for a fee that could rise to £4 million and that will simply be fantastic business because he has never played for us. And if you disagree you need to **** off and support Man City.
Goalkeeper is probably the most difficult position to evaluate from highlights - even more than other positions it's as much about not making any mistakes as it is about producing the occasional brilliant moment. One could make a compilation of Pickford that could show him appearing fantastic, but of course it would overlook his frequent, very costly blunders.
14 blunders that have led to goals in last 5 years. Allison had 5 last season alone. Who's the better keeper?
Is it really only 14? I seemed to remember Pickford and De Gea making blunders on a weekly basis last season!
That leads to a goal. Heard it mentioned on the radio earlier. It's like many things, once somebody starts talking about something like this, it gathers momentum whether true or not
Kepa is the absolute king of the 'should have done better but maybe wasn't a complete howler' lol, he always shows up better in these stats then he does in others
So on this flimsy evidence, he leaps ahead of Bachman does he? We have a bit of an embarrassment of riches in keepers at the moment.
I know this lad had a bad injury whilst he has been out on loan , but has he recovered from it yet? Because if he has maybe it is time for him to come back and make his bid to become our No1. Personally I think that Big ben should be our No 1 at the start of next season which would probably mean that Bachmann might want to move on. So if that happens Dahlberg should become our No 2 with the expectation he will take over from Ben within a year or two if not sooner. With the current No 3 retaining his shirt.
Joined Donny on loan, where he’ll play alongside Cukur. https://www.watfordfc.com/news/official-doncaster-loan-for-dahlberg Surely he’s better than league one?
How often do Swedish internationals, who have just come off the back of a storming season in the domestic league, rock up to League 1? Surely we should have offered him to some Championship club?
I think Bachmann will have a good season and if we go down (let’s face it: when) he’ll be one that will get a move back to the PL. Hopefully Dahlberg isn’t too pissed off with all the loan moves etc and is ready to be our #1 in the Championship next season.
I mean, he’s a Swedish international but his 2 caps have come in some pretty obscure games. Almost B level if such a thing still existed. It barely counts. Anyway, it’s a good move for him if he plays regularly.
Looking at Doncaster’s stats last season they played four different keepers over the campaign and only one is still there. Hopefully he’ll get a good chance there
Truly bizarre that they would make that public but Watford won’t. We’ve become so mysterious with contracts these days. Didn’t announce Deeney’s latest deal - going by club comms he would’ve been a free agent this summer. Femenia, Cleverley, Bachmann all signed new deals that weren’t announced within the last couple of years (maybe DB was?). Then there’s JP, who was widely reported to have signed a new 6 year deal when we were promoted. Never been announced. Such an odd trait.
Fair, although he's been one of the best keepers in Sweden for a few years now (when he hasn't been sat on the bench or in the stands for us and in the Dutch league). Would have thought Hacken (for who he was one of their best players) would survive in the Championship, Donny were bottom half League 1 last season
Dahlberg is a Championship Goalkeeper but the bigger thing for me is adapting to a grass pitch and getting regular game time.
I'd be very surprised if he got a number 1 shirt straight away if he moved to a Championship club based on his career to date. This move makes sense to me.
Yep, don't think it's worth the risk of him being displaced and wasting a year of development. Sounds like Donny have basically nothing in terms of GK options, so he should get a full season of English football under his belt
https://www.skysports.com/football/doncaster-rovers-vs-afc-wimbledon/447894 Good save early on. Nothing he could do for the first, the second was his side for the FK but I think it went through legs to be fair to him.
