I see Wally gave an interview to some Italian football show yesterday and they were talking about his time at Inter Milan and the players whom he wanted to bring in, but didn't.

I thought it was interesting to see the kind of player he's interested in and was asking for.

There are some very good and very expensive players amongst them and they've obviously aged somewhat since that time, but I wonder whether there's any possibility we may eventually see some of them in a yellow shirt here in future?

    1. Aleksandar Kolarov (signed for Man City for £16m in 2010) Just turned 31 and a regular starter for City. Most unlikely I'd have thought.

    2. Luiz Gustavo (signed for Wolfsburg in 2013 for unknown fee) 29 years old and a Brazilian DM. Contract until 2018. 41 appearances for Brazil national team. If we signed a full Brazilian international I think I'd just about fill my knickers.

    3. Rolando (signed for Marseille 2015 for unknown fee) 31 year old central defender. Playing regularly in a back 4 for them by the looks of it.

    4. Érik Lamela (signed for Spuds £25.8m in 2013) their record signing but has only scored 8 in 84. I think there have been some grumbles about his effectiveness recently and he was reportedly demanding to double his £60k a week wages, so kind of unlikely.

Still, as I say, interesting to note these players that Wally likes.

    This explains the smell:

Gomes made his debut for Brazil in 2003 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Although the competition is for senior national teams, Brazil chose to send an under-23 squad to the competition. Gomes made five appearances as Brazil went to the final and finished second after being beaten by Mexico 1–0.

Despite being part of the Brazilian squad that won the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup as the third-choice keeper behind Dida and Marcos, Gomes did not receive any playing time. He was also excluded from then coach Carlos Alberto Parreira's final 23-man roster for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

It was not until his inclusion in the team for a series of late-summer friendlies, as a consequence of new Brazil coach Dunga's desire to play many of the Sele*ão's younger stars, that Gomes has finally gained some consistent playing time in goal. On 14 August 2006, he was called up for a friendly against Norway, which ended in a 1–1 draw. On 3 September 2006, he played in Brazil's 3–0 win over rivals Argentina at Emirates Stadium in England. Two days later, Gomes kept a second consecutive clean sheet in a 2–0 victory over Wales at White Hart Lane. His latest stint between the sticks was during a 2–1 win over Ecuador on 10 October 2006.

On 11 May 2010, it was announced that Gomes would be part of the Brazilian squad which would compete at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Gomes made a rare appearance for Brazil in a World Cup warm-up game, replacing Brazil's number one keeper Júlio César as a substitute.[23]

Kolarov I don't think would fit too well into our shape, he's not really a CB or a wing back. I don't think Rolando or Lamela are all that good, but I would love to have Gustavo. He'd have to take Behrami's place, I'm sure.

We defo need a DM and one who can pass and dictate play as well as win possession . Behrami is way off the boil and with no quality replacements we look light in midfield .

Difficult to find good players in Jan, but if we can still be top 8 , maybe can attract a high calibre player . No more squad players required , we have plenty . Just high quality first team starters .

Wasn't it mentioned on that Lampard thread that Chelsea are looking to offload Mikel? Divides opinion, but he's certainly good at winning the ball and dictating play from the back. Downside = wages, as per usual.

Defo would have mikel as long his attitude was good .

Wouldn't be surpised if we moved for Luiz Adriano of Milan in January, apparently they only want 3 million Euros for him

That's a no then as by all accounts, he is a first class nob.

A nob with 250 Chelsea appearances is better than a pleasant chap with none.

Rolando's a funny one, as he did actually sign for them, albeit on loan. He made about 30 appearances in the 13/14 season. Don't think he'd be up to it here though, nor do we really need any more CBs.

I like the sound of this Gustavo , mainly because he's 83 rated and I know fxck all else about him .

But weird he's playing for Wolfsburg.

Why? He's a current Brazilian international with 41 caps, they're regulars in Europe and minted, sounds a good match to me.

Thought with that sort of pedigree he'd play for a more prestigious club .... but then Pereyra plays for Watford !

Wolfsburg could be forced to sell their big names in Jan as their financial backers VW have got problems with their worldwide emmissions lie ....

Amongst them being Draxler and Gustavo

Gustavo would be a ridiculously good signing for us and an improvement on Behrami. There would be lots of teams in for him but if we are still sitting top half we just may tempt him as we can afford half decent wages and can offer him a definite starting place. Imagine having Capoue Pereyra and Gustavo in the midfield.

    Can dream.

Apparently Inter and another top Italian club are after him.

We could probably offer at least as much money than them but obviously arent in the same calibre as them. Depends if he want to play in the Prem or not really. I think the days of Arsenal , Chelsea wanting him have passed. So then we would be competing with your Spams, Evertons etc.

Inter wouldn't be able to register him until the end of the season afaik, and he would most definitely be a starter for us. Would be one of the first names on the teamsheet.
