Can't find this, which seems a bit weird considering what a big story it could be if true... According to: http://www.watford.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=69339 and: http://watford.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=898&p=2&stid=8448866 (article same in both) we have made a £2 million pound bid for Robbo. Would be a great signing imo for so many reasons - he'd certainly put players like Kabba in their place! (i've not been on in a few days so apologies if this has been discussed to death and is already old news like Devaney leaving!)
West Brom fans have turned on him because of one game, though their board always seem to be able to reject bids and get good money. I don't see it happening either because of the price W.B.A will demand. But if he doesn't go to a premiership team i think we would be his next option (although there isnt much difference in terms of size between the two clubs). He and Aidy would certainly work well imo. Maybe Ashton will have some favour with their board?! We can only hope!
Yeah my Baggies friend and her mum still worship him, but the fickle fans have shown their colours it would seem. Agree about the two different prices you suggest. I'd be happy with £2 million rising to £3 million though
Robbo is a legend but Jordan is as good. Good to have depth in that position but I wouldn't pay that sort of money.
Did seem to get invovled involved in a few nasty incidents this season but will still get down the left and show loads of passion (ok sometimes OTT!) Plus running around the pitch with fist in air after each win at the Vic!
he'd be great to have back, just imagine what him crunching into a 50-50 tackle would do to get the crowd going. i also enjoyed seeing him come round to the rookery last pumping the fist after a victory our just acknowledging the fans if we've lost. what exactly was it that steve bruce called him after an unsavoury incident at birmingham? 'utter thug' was it? great stuff
Robbo looks as though he;s improved certainly in terms of his crossing and ability to get up and down the flanks... I would DEFINITELY welcome him back but he's not worth any more than £2million One other point... how in Gods name can anyone suggest jordan even lives on the same planet as Robbo let alone be as good if not better than him? Shocking :dismay:
Different types of players really, Stewart has improved beyond recognition and whilst his distribution is sometimes poor he is a good athlete who performed well in the Prem, Robbo is totally committed and a better defender but he does suffer from disciplinary problems. I would probably have Robbo in over Stewart but others are entitled to their opinions and the two players are on the same planet ... the CCC. Robbo £1.5mil MAX
I would keep a £2 million ceiling, but I think he would be better than Jordan. I think Jordan has improved by an incredible extent, and it would be a shame for him to leave. I think it would be a real good battle to have Jordan and Robbo competein for a place. Quality.
It would be a lot of cash for a player whose limitations we know only too well. Great heart, great tackles and blocks, but not the best we could do surely? Sorry, but I think its been easier to build the Robbo legend without having to watch him play. On the plus side, plenty good enough for the Championship.
I would welcome him back with open arms, but i doubt he will come, especially with Everton preparing a bid
i think we would have to break our wage structure if we wanted to offer him a deal as good as hes on at WBA, if we dont and he still comes fair play and he obviously would still want to play for watford if he did that. Hes a legend and would always be good to see him back.
What other left backs better than Robbo would realistically join us? I can't see any. There's a reason that Newcastle and Everton are being linked with him - he's premiership in my opinion. 2 mio is a decent price for an established pro. I'd go for him without a doubt in mind or heart.
The Baggies would drive him to Watford themselves for 2million. I don't want him back. Like Jay's 'Hollywood tackles' some people can't see past the clenched fist.
Look to the future not the past. Robba was a great player for us, lets leave it at that. Personally i'd prefer to see somebody who is a bit younger and with a bit of pace.
Personally I don't think you will see Aidy splashing out £2 mil or more for a left back when you have a perfectly capable player in that position at the minute with an even better prospect coming through this season, in Parkes! Robbo won't be back here!
2mill is alot of money for him and I just dont see us paying that out for him.I think WBA will start unloading players to bring the wage bill down, its more of a case of having to than wanting to.
I don't think WBA have any problem paying the wages bill. They don't need to sell anyone unless they want to.
The person who wrote the vital football article thinks West Bromwich is in Birmingham Shows how much they know.
This is their last season with parachute money, if they don't go back up this season then they will need to trim their costs which will almost certainly include wages
Nooooooo. West Bromwich is in the Black Country, It is in the borough of Sandwell, one of the boroughs making up the Black Country, along with Walsall, Dudley and Wolverhampton. The Black Country has it's own history, dialect and humour. Birmingham isn't and never has been in the Black Country.
According to Multi map its only about 20 mins from the Aston station in the center of brum, about 4.1 miles. This is from the Hawthornes. That for me is not far enough away from brum not to be a brum club. Sure its a suburb almost and cultural differences may differ vastly.
people from the black country hate being referred to as brummies, accents different too (although just as annoying)
