Give it a month, when his agent has exhausted all unrealistic options, and he will make a video of how excited he is to be here. He’s ours, the FA signed off on it months ago, so nothing illegal was done. He can take it to fifa all he wants, nothing is going to break the 5 yr contract. Personally speaking, even if he doesn’t want to be here, why give him what he wants by selling him. Loan him out to some team in Peru.
It's all gone very quiet about this fella. Anyone know the exact date of when his contract should start?
Apparently he's negotiating with Angers, we've said we'll release him from his contract for 5m. All seems a bit odd, Angers is a bit of a weird move, could see why he'd want to be released if he was joining an Arsenal or someone but Angers?! https://amp.ouest-france.fr/sport/f...-pape-gueye-6844068?__twitter_impression=true
Good work by Gino and co then. 5 million for a player who never played for us ?! https://mobile.twitter.com/WD18Fans/status/1272088477086121985?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^tweet
Too much player/agent power these days. You signed a contract, your stupid fault if you didn’t read it properly. Gino should make him stay, send him to Udinese likes planned, then sell him 3 yrs from now for even more. It’s obvious what will happen. We get €5mil from Angers, Arsenal come in and buy him €7-10mil immediately. He everything we wanted in a Capoue replacement and he goes on to be sold to Barca for €80mil. Take Angers to do one, and his agent. He’s a watford player and there is nothing they can do about it.
I wondered when this was going to rear its ugly head again. Yes he's ours. But if he has no desire to play for our great club he go go do one. It's about time our club spoke up about it though.
True. But lots of clubs are showing interest in Baptiste from Angers maybe we are one of them giving us an advantage in proceedings.
On twitter and now wobby https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ent-saying-will-not-joining-watford-expected/
He's told L'Equipe in France that he's not coming. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ent-saying-will-not-joining-watford-expected/ Good luck with that lad. You can't just say 'whoops' and walk away from the contract when Watford don't agree. Stuff the £5m, we should just ask FIFA to ban him from playing for the 5 year length of his contract as a warning to others and leave it at that.
His previous agent, Bakari Sanogo, was according to L'Equipe "a close friend of the Gueye family" at the time in which he signed the contract with us, and also already represents Moussa Sissoko and Issa Diop - so he was hardly an inexperienced chancer likely to have given Gueye completely duff or misleading advice. Sanogo is quoted by L'Equipe in response to the case as saying "“Out of respect for the family, I prefer not to say anything. Football is made up of statistics and my stats in supporting players are 100% successful." There's definitely something dodgy going on. https://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Act...nnonce-qu-il-ne-rejoindra-pas-watford/1143258
He never wanted to come. He and his new agent want a bigger club and more money. He has a lot of potential. He is like Doucoure, but with a good touch and more control. It will be interesting to see what Watford FC will do about this. Will FIFA or UEFA become involved? Let's see what happens..
He has been getting quite a slagging off in the press here by fans. Most remarks are targeted at his agent and player with the desire for a bigger club and more money. Commentsc such as: Gueye is lacking in intelligence and a greedy agent screwing over another African player. Rumour is that he is close to signing a 4yr deal with Angers. That seems crazy. There are only around 4 clubs in L1 that can offer big money. Did Watford act against UEFA rules last year? That seems to be his 'get out' clause. Yet he? his agent, Le Havre and Watford would have known if they were in the wrong. Interesting.
FIFA inevitably unless Watford back down first. They have oversight over all international transfers. It’s not a UEFA thing as far as I know.
Much as I know it’s not the current regime’s way of doing things, I would really like to hear something from the club about this now.
Is there anything they can say that isn't going to be prejudicial to whatever follows? I doubt it. I'm amazed they announced him so early - I can't remember the Pozzo doing that before. Can only imagine they got wind of his plans to try and bail from the pre-contract and put what they did on the website to add to the pressure.
Deeney thinks there is one Gueye in every team......sadly it doesn't look like we'll get ours. https://www.sowetanlive.co.za/sport...-deeney-claims-every-team-has-one-gay-player/
Apparently we still plan to register him as our player. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/18517519.watford-planning-register-pape-gueye-player/
We clearly swim in murky waters with our dealings, and this is not the first time this type of dispute has arisen. However, it's quite right we should register him. He may have changed his mind or had his head turned, but you just cannot walk away from a contract just because it no longer suits you. He'll never play of us and why would we want someone so reluctant to come. Sell him on, make a profit and I'm sure this is what the clubs plans to do.
It worked out fine in the end with Holebas. His lawyer agent could just be pulling his strings and chancing his arm while he still thinks he can. If/when he arrives then perhaps as with Holebas the player will just forget about it and knuckle down.
True but Holebas was obviously at the other end of his career. And at least he had the promise of at least 1 season of Premier League football and exposure. This kid has probably realised he could very well have signed for a Championship side if things don’t work out in the next few weeks.
