Looking at the fixtures and seeing other club names that make me shrug and say meh to, plus thinking about our chances of being chosen for Sky matches early on. Got me wondering where we currently rank amongst the 24 clubs in terms of interest? Not newly relegated from the Prem, losing our household names, probably not seen as a ‘big club’ in the way some clubs always are regardless. I’d go around 12th?
To the outside world we are a vanilla club. Probably rank us alongside Cardiff and Boro as being one of the most boring opponents. I'd have us in the bottom three as to what opposition fans think of us.
I don't think it really matters what others think about us, outside of our fanbase. I very much believe that is a good thing, as the spotlight is now off us we can hopefully go under the radar and have a decent season for once. Leeds, Leicester and Southampton will get most of the Sky late night games because those are the sides they expect to be challenging for the title. Out of the three that got promoted, and because of who they are in football, perhaps Ipswich will get a bit more focus over Wednesday and Plymouth (who the vast majoirty will expect to go back down). All we can do is our own thing, and only worry about other sides when they are stood in front of us on a matchday. Linekar will of course be jumping for joy at the first corner flag image, but it would be so nice to stick with IV through the whole season and prove a lot of doubter wrong for a change. Unfortunatley, the way this club has slumped in the past few years, most of those doubters are in our own fanbase.
Well we are certainly in the lower half in terms of attendance. The three coming down only exacerbate this. I still think 2nd Division is punching for us.
I always think wearing yellow gives an 1% extra interest over some other average champ team who wears blue or red. Yeah our manager revolving door policy adds a percent as well. Mid table I reckon this year for interest (as it is at the starting point)
