  1. I really liked her shouting during the commentary. Here's to passion and she was where it all began. I remember that really well and can't believe it was 13 years ago.

Both the trampolining and BMXing are mental, great skill and talent on show.

  3. A question. If someone puts you on their 'ignore list' I presume they don't get to see your posts. But if you don't put them on yours pro-actively, do you still get to see theirs?

I also love the fact that the Olympics can still surprise you with which sports you - or those around you - get into. I would never have predicted my 14 year old daughter, who isn’t really a sports watcher, getting so into the boxing the other evening!

I would presume so - but since I have no idea who has me on ignore, I couldn’t answer that definitively.

  6. Thank you HH. I doubt if anyone has YOU on ignore! But if there's been a 'falling out' it strikes me that it would be a self-inflicted disadvantage to not see what your opponent might write about you thus forfeiting the right of reply. Unless you can genuinely leave it behind which would be a tough gig. For me.

Suffice to say, I won't be putting anyone on my ignore list no matter what the provocation.

Fair point and she is their mate basically so was personally excited for them.

Sure Clare Balding has got a gaggle of family members lined up as we speak to ask how proud they are.

  8. Hockey eh? Not a fan. Always seems stilted to me. Far too many stoppages, no flowing moves and no 'worldies' from far out. All the goals seem to involve some sort of 'scrum'.

It's not helped by only being able to whack the ball with one side of the stick requiring convoluted, unathletic contortions on the backhand. Much better is ice-hockey with both sides of the stick in play and far more natural movement.

No matter. WBGS consider hockey as their second sport after egg-ball and still largely ignore the world's most popular sport. As they did with me 57 years ago. W.nkers.

Neither had I. Watched the race earlier and it was really weird.

They are being referred to as the ROC, which stands for RUSSIAN Olympic Committee, why?

I had a Jimmy Riddle next to John Lowe at a darts tournament. I can confirm his aim was true. Darts tournaments in the 80s. Bar opening at 9am. All the professional dart players, Lowe, Bristow etc drinking 2 pints at a time (1 in each time) to attain the match-ready steady-state needed. No segregation between punters and top players. All the players chatting and mingling freely. What a great day.

Yer, hearing the stories of funding cuts after Rio, having to source crowd-funding, part-time work, and being subbed by family and friends. They are true Olympians. Puts that gobby entitled champagne-popping brats in the men's rowing squad to shame.

There was a great quote from the coach at the Peckham BMX club about putting his council estate charges behind bars, as in cycling handle-bars. Brilliant.

Freestyle BMX-ing over the weekend too. It's also a gateway to track cycling.

Perhaps they should just have a mixed 3-legged relay race instead.

Seems like a scam to get the US yet another relay Gold.

Shanaze Reade? She was a demon on the BMX bike herself. Won everything apart from Olympic Gold. Crashed out right at the end her race in 2012.

What a Triathlon team. All of them absolutely brilliant. The perfect race.

That mixed triathalon relay was an excellent race with all 4 performing brilliantly.
    Another Gold.

And a great way to showcase the strengths of women and men athletes on an even footing, as a team, all equal.

Forcing the legs to be in order Women - Men - Women -Men makes it a much better spectacle compared to allowing teams to decide the batting order.

Never thought it could be so exciting watching a triathlon. When the French bloke went steaming past our man on the bike I thought that's that, but what a run!!!

Yes, they said in the comms yesterday the BMX’ers have such strong legs because they’ve only got one gear, that it sets them up nicely for any other cycling disciplines.

    PCB defeats Djokovic for bronze.
Djokovic very fortunate not to receive a penalty point, throwing his racket into the stands and then smashing it into the net post, both warnings in the code of conduct.
The umpire warned him for the second not the first,a fact that Pablo was quick to point out!
PCB clearly gets to ND,he was the player at Flushing when ND was disqualified.
    Dina AS doesn't look fit.

Just seen Dina Asher Smith missing out on the 100m final.

I know she had a little niggle a week or two ago.

Guess that impacted on her performance.

    Least Nita got in though.

Guess it will be a Jamaica 1-2-3?

Asher Smith failed to qualify for the final whereas the other Brit nobody has heard of did.

BBC hyping up certain athletes is really annoying. Dina has almost achieved sainthood when realistically even at her best in 100m would have done well to acheive a medal.
Disappointing performance but didn't look fit.

The BBC surely running out of pages in the Excuse Bible for Asher-Smith. Phantom injury, 'ring rust', Covid, no crowd, isolation, away from family.

Good lord. She just wasn't good enough.

Well she is out of the 200m now .

Sound like she was never going to be fully fit.

She’s got some way to go to catch up with Biles in the pulling out medal table.
