"Norwich City are holding talks with Billy Sharp after offering £2million for the Scunthorpe United striker.

Sharp was top scorer in League One last season and is considering a new contract after Scunthorpe's promotion.

But several fellow Championship clubs are trying to tempt The Iron into a sale, with Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday reportedly having bids turned down.

West Brom and Preston North End also hold an interest in the former Sheffield United youngster, who bagged 32 goals in all competitions last term.

Norwich have now upped the ante in the chase for Sharp after being given the go-ahead to speak to the 21-year-old.

"We have given Billy permission to go and talk to Norwich," Iron chairman Steve Wharton told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

Canaries boss Peter Grant recently confirmed his interest in Sharp and has also been chasing Southend United's Freddy Eastwood and Colchester United's Jamie Cureton"

    Could this signal Earnshaw's exit?
Should we put in a £2mil bid as well?

Nah Earnshaw wont be leaving and if he does i doubt it will be to us. Looks like weve missed out on yet another signing. Norwich if they sign him will have quite the strike force.

Sharp is no better than Hoskins - both unproven at the higher level.

    £2mil??

    £2mil??

I will laugh heartily if anyone buys him for over £900k.

How can you price somebody like that when he has only had 1 full professional season?

32 goals is a lot, but he would never score that many in a higher division.

    Stupid money.
