There was a dour Scot from Auld Reekie,
Whose bagpipes were tuneless and squeaky.
When they begged, "Stop that noise!"
    He replied with great poise,
"Och, 'tis only a valve that is leaky."

What a fantastic story that is. First Dane ever to win a senior title is the grand son of a man who twice lost the final. Also I think it's ages since an Englishman won a wimbledon title isn't it? 76 years it says on the beeb.

Sorry Meister but that is honestly one of the most utterly ridiculous things I've ever read on these forums, and that's saying a lot considering some of the stuff on here.

Rodg is much better technically than Murray, but, Murray's movement makes him such a difficult player to play against.

Also, Murray must get his first serves in more if he has any chance, as his second serve is probably one of the weakest parts of his game.

    I aim to please.

I also stand by the statement. Murray is more technically gifted. Federer is mentally tougher and therefore a better match player.
Murray at his best will beat Federer at his best and I beleive had the upper hand in head to heads(not in the grand slams only) Murray just cant keep it consistent and crumbles under mental pressure.

My tip for tomorrow, Rodge in 4, unless the real Murray can turn out.

The crowd will play a part when it comes to the big points. If Murray can feed off them i can see him winning it in 4

Federer is probably only the 2nd most technical playr i have seen, Sampress was the other. His back had slices to the base line buys him so much positional time it makes it hard to pass him. He also has the ability to adapt the pace of his first serve more than any other player. It makes it so difficult for players to put him on the back foot

Roger Federer is the most technically gifted tennis player of all time. He doesn't have 16 grand slam titles and 285 weeks at world number 1 because he's a mental powerhouse like Nadal or even Djokovic, he has them because of his incredible tennis ability. Of course he's a great tactician and is still strong mentally as well, but it's his incredible skill level that has won him the titles.

You'll be hard pressed to find many people that argue against him being the greatest player of all time and/or the greatest technical player of all time, let alone people who think bloody Andy Murray is technically better! If Andy Murray was a better tennis player than Federer he would have multiple grand slam titles by now regardless of his mentallity.

Only thing I can agree with you on here is Federer in 4!

Although I disagree about your opinion of Murray, I agree with most of this. Federer is an outstanding player, definitely the best player in my era. He is naturally declining a little compared to 5 years ago, but his technique and composure is still the best in the game. If it was against anybody else I'd be cheering on Andy, but in this one I can't say who I'd prefer to win.

Like Scummy, i agree with what most of Nath says. you can't win that many titles on mentel stregnth alone.

He'll be ready for Murrays predictable drop shots and cross court back hands. i doubt that Murray will find him self in many positions where he is allowed to play them

I think Murray has every chance. He's got the head to head advantage, he's got the home advantage and he's definitely got the ability to beat anyone in the world.

Federer's career is amazing. Like Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods, he's one of those sportsmen who's record transcends their own chosen sport and just makes them legendary. To dominate for as long as he has done in such a competitive sport shows just how he is more than a normal, good sportsman. He is a once in a generation, special human being.

However, the Federer of today is not the same as the Federer of 5 years ago. His record means nothing as he's fallen behind Djoko and Nadal in dominance in the past couple of years and is beatable.

I think making predictions is futile as there are too many variables, but I genuinely believe that Murray CAN win. Whether he will or not depends on many, many things. I personally am excited and hope he does it. I do love Fed and would love to see him set records, but this is the best chance for a Brit to win a slam. I also believe that once Murray wins one, he'll go on to get another 1 or 2.

Federer wins...number 7 and probably more to come.

TBF Murray was quite emotional at the end.

Record equalling 7 time Wimbledon champion, a record 17 time grand slam champion, back to world number 1 ahead of 3 excellent players all at least 5 years his junior and will now also break the record for amount time at world number 1 as well.

There's not even an argument any more, Federer is indisputably the greatest tennis player of all time.

Murray was let down by too many poor 1st serves and not being able to give Federer the run around enough.

Federer was in a different class as soon as he won the 2nd set.

Federer was a class apart. Murray did play amazingly in the first set, but he couldn't maintain it and nobody could live with Federer in this form. He was inhuman.

I hope Murray takes heart from it and goes on to win a major soon. I was genuinely touched by his speech at the end.

It was a good game, nice to see Murray give it a good go but Federer was brilliant as always. Surely Federer has to go down as one of if not the greatest sportsmen of all time?
