Don't care how good this guy is or how likely we'll sign him. The fact we are actually linked to a central defender is a very encouraging sign.

Why would he want to come here?

 

CB, good age, dominant in the air (tall, led Ligue 1's 'clearances per match in his first season last year, and has scored a few senior goals from corners), French Under-21 international, has been linked to some big clubs.

Seems to have dropped to third choice for Lyon this season, but if he's determined to start matches and interested in the PL then their loss could be our gain.

Sounds like he'd be a great signing if we could pull it off. I doubt he'd be cheap, but if he can replace Prodl then get the checquebook out...

Indeed. It will stay exciting through the summer as the standard of targets gradually falls until we sign a reserve CH from Udinese on deadline day, who will make 6 appearances for us when 4 of the other CHs are injured. Looking fwd to hearing of all the LBs we are linked with on a similar basis.

I can't wait for us to be linked with this guys for the next few months, only to not sign him.

Mouctar Diakhaby is a 21 year old centre back currently contracted to Ligue 1 side Olympic Lyon.
He's 6' 3" and has represented France at U-19, U-20 & U-21 levels.

We're rumoured to have had a bid of €10m turned down.

Somewhat the unfinished article yet. He could be a good recruit, maybe a future star, but with the odd calamity on the way.

 

By the sound of it we put the offer in, it's declined and we've moved on. Agree with Moose looks like he has a regular mistake in him but so does Mawson and his value I believe is a joke.

To be fair, it’s twitter rumours as usual but seems quite a few outlets on there saying the same thing.

 

It's a confirmed possible rumour.

 

Valencia are our rivals. They even have a cheapo low cost airline airport. Bet they have an A***** Centre too.

Of course that could've been the structure of the deal

if they're willing to accept €15m i'm sure we would be willing to match it.

 

I’ve got a feeling about this one. I’m going to keep it to myself until it plays out, but if I’m correct he will certainly be playing football next year.

 

Not if he joins us and our medical team get their hands on him.
