Minor things that bother you

I am becoming increasingly interested in issues surrounding your lack of shift key. So Greek is automatically initial capitalised but brasil and australia aren't. I had been of the mind that perhaps with an English or American spellchecker it might have been looking for brazil to mess about with and been totally flummoxed by the use of brasil. But now the new oz issue has reared its head and thrown that incipient theory right out of the window.

I think it only fair that we all be told exactly what's going on here. Is your spellchecker in some way particularly sympathetic to greece/Greece/Greeks in the fight against austerity imposed on it/them by the germans/Germans/krauts?

 

I think this matter deserves its own dedicated sub forum.

 

Driving Mrs ZZ's mother around yesterday (age 87) and she wanted that CD on by "that nice young lady" Lily Allen, and then having to listen to her singing along to some of the songs, such as "Not Fair" with the choice lyrics.

Relieved that we reached home before "**** You" came on.

Basic grammar annoys me, particularly on forums where people don't know the difference between "there / their & they're", "our & are" and the number one, should/would/could of instead of have. I can excuse spelling mistakes as even with a basic typo it's clear what the person is saying.

 

Agreed. Plus no footballer hired by the beeb understanding the concept of an adverb.

Dads who, whilst being overprotective, still fail in their basic duty to teach their sons the correct use of an apostrophe.

 

Football supporters overly celebrating avoiding relegation - which is code for - 'we're sh.te, we know were sh.te, but marginally less sh.te than if we'd got relegated'. Hallelujah!

Homophone confusion - definitely not dyslexia.
