Anyone who choses to say WM is a good manager who is just down on his luck is just lying to themselves or looking at things with extremely yellow-tinted glasses on. He was a good manager in Italian football. But he has shown no desire to adapt to this country or league whatsoever. The style of play is slow and ponderous, the type of game you can get away with in Serie A. He show's NO want to speak in English for fear that it could get taken out of context - does he not realise that by not speaking in even a small amount of pigeon-English, the damage is far greater that a simple misunderstanding with the press?! It makes him seem untrustworthy and unreliable and that is a much bigger issue. He 100% comes across as someone who is just here to pick up a pay check and nothing else - he hasn't shown any affinity with the club. Can you honestly say he is going home tonight and losing sleep about this??? No, because he simply isn't. And we need a manager who will. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt as changing managers midway through a season is a risky business - even more so for a club like ours that has had many changes in recent years. But put simply, this cannot be allowed to just rumble on, week to week, game to game any longer. My only worry is that we need to be careful what we wish for - who do we go and get? We can all have our names we'd like but who are likely to get given the Pozzo's left-field appointments so far?!

The squad? Not good enough. Not even close to good enough. Put Gilmartin in as second choice GK and let Pantillimon go - its a waste of a foreign space. Iggy is as good as gone and Guedioura needs to follow suit. Ideally Okaka would be left out as well - he is simply dreadful and that Everton game is destined to be his one highlight. Duxberry and Dowling always eulogise that there is no value in the British market - hence why they look abroad. But that manifests itself into the squad and it looks disjointed and results in performances like we have seen recently. We need to stop concerning ourself with loaning players from abroad and start signing players with PL experience. Cleverley was a step in the right direction... And please good, sign some CB's who are willing to get their kit dirty, and their heads busted open for the cause. I don't care if they can't spread a cross field ball 60 yards (the current ones can't anyway), I just want them to defend, win headers and give easy ball to midfielders with ability.

PS. I see Berghuis has just scored again for Feyenoord, who are top. Why are we paying for him to succeed elsewhere again while we plow on with Guedioura? Mis-management, pure and simple.

My point was why bother to pick him ? He will never feature in the Prem. And he was completely at fault in the run up to Pants getting injured - completely switched off and let a poor pass run through when he should have got rid

Shocking. You wonder if the squad are trying to get the coach the sack or are simply totally bemused by this weeks training to the point that they have no idea how to play incisive football. If Mazzarri and that team had any decency they would collectively make a £20,000 donation to the Peace Hospice as a way of making amends. Millwall were not good, looked jittery in defence and wasteful in attack. Wycombe Wanderers on Saturdays showing would have murded us.

They did when Guedioura screwed one wide from 30 yards (predictably), talking about his Arsenal goal.

Millwall weren't frighteningly good, but knew how to press, harry and break with purpose, which was more than enough to deal with us.
One or two have grumbled about Atkinson, but bar the Okaka pull, which the Lino had a better view of anyway, I thought he was excellent.

Very disappointing of course. I thought Gomes had saved their shot (about their only proper testing shot), but it got through them.

Obviously if you make a completely new team with 7 fresh starters things aren't going to flow smoothly. Especially when those include the likes of Mapps, Dja Djede and Watson who've barely had a kick up until now. However I'd agree with Mazzarri and say we were unfortunate to lose that. Unfortunate to have two forced substitutions, including the keeper (who shouldn't count as a substitution to my mind). Unfortunate not to be given what seemed quite a clear pen for the drag back on Okaka. Unfortunate to have a ref who let a lot of pretty physical stuff go, presumably on the grounds of letting the game flow.

As others have pointed out, I'm afraid that in a similar way to Paredes, Gueds is just not up to it. Those who believe Wally is not interested and shows no passion must have missed him doing his nut after that dreadful, comical free kick.

I presume Mapps was brought in at Troy's insistence, as a little thank you for that 10k while he was inside. Part of the negotiations on the new contract perhaps. Again, I'm afraid he's just not a Premier League standard player and needs to really move on. His lack of awareness and flat footedness was a major part in Pants injury. Needs to be much, much sharper than that.

Watson was pretty dreadful. Way off the pace. Similarly Sinclair looks like he needs another year or two of development before he's ready for the big leagues.

Wally said before the game that he'd change all 11 if he could. He can't say more clearly than that that we're not particularly bothered about the cup. Imagine if it had been Gomes and Janmaat stretchered off. I expect he'd have been slaughtered for playing them rather than concentrating on the league.

With quality players arriving in (drawn by the attraction of playing under Mazzarri), I'm confident that given time to develop his team, he'll have us playing exciting football in the top half of the Prem and all this moaning and complaining about him will be forgotten.

We can't win every game and those calling for his head remind me of the whinging Scousers shouting 'Klopp out'.

  9. I Blame Pozzo

    I Blame Pozzo First Team

    Good grief!

I enjoyed paying my tax bill more than that. No cohesion unsurprisingly with a team with 7 changes, woeful tempo,no pace.

I feel a little sorry for Okaka as he made a few good runs when the midfield had possession but they either delayed too long or messed up the pass. I lost count of the number of times he was alone in the box against 3 or 4 enormous Millwall defenders.

If someone could tell me what the game plan was I'd be obliged,I've no idea what it was.

Miserable day, wretched performance but I can't defend us singing "we're f****** s***" to the team. True but some things are best left unsaid.

Well done H for getting the players that were walking off to come back and clap fans at the end.

I've been supportive of Walt up to now but I REALLY hope he can arrest this as on that showing there are not 3 worse teams in the league.

Berghuis ran away and hid against a physical Millwall u21 side at St Albans last season. I was there. He was gash. He was subbed. Don't for one minute think he'd be the Messiah. No soul and no way would he have done any good against Millwall's first team.

For me, today's hide and seek champions when it got tasty were Sinclair and Doucoure.

After Brice got treatment he was super fired up and 10x the player but still got subbed when it should've been Brandon Mason for Janmatt as Mason was a bit of a rabbit in the headlights in the first half and for much of the second, only showing something when we pressed on after they scored. For which, as pointed out above, he was way out of position as he'd been for much of the game. Millwall targeted him and his side and poured their attacks down that flank, which Sinclair did very little to help with and exposed Britos who was given too much to do to clear it up.

All easily remedied by Mazarri, yet ignored.

Apart from contributing to the mix up that lead to our goalie being injured, I dont think Mariappa played too badly. Seemed to handle Millwall's physicallity better than some of our other players

Would definately agree with this, especially in the first half. So often Mason got himself forward and in space but the oppotunity was lost because Watson slowed the play down instead of passing it to him.

You have to give Gueds credit for not hiding and trying to make things happen but like you say he looks out of his depth. Shame really but he his decision making and carelessness with the ball is really holding him back. Mind you it would help if wasnt playing so damned deep.

For me Okaka was the single most frustrating player on the pitch. Run towards the ball, fall over, flounce at the ref then sulk for not getting the decision his way. Rinse & repeat. He really couldnt have looked less like the player who terrorised Everton if he tried.

Which is the crux of the on field problems. I wouldnt agree with the accusation that theres a lack of effort but Like others have said we look so clueless, especially in midfield where no one seems to know their roles. Infact the midfield as a whole needs a rehash because currently they are sitting so deep its like we have 5 centre backs on the pitch & not surprising why every spell of possesion ends with a hoof up the field to the isolated strikers.

I'm not too worried about the result or the cup this year though a win would have been nice. It almost seems to be the Watford way that we go out of one of the cups each year to a lower league team. But the performance was so poor today and to only have a tame flicked header on target near the end , a 25 yard shot that went well wide in the first half and an iffy penalty shout as the only thing to show for our efforts is inexcusable.

I dont blame Walter for making so many changes & some of the outrage on here about it is a joke tbh (disrespecting the cup? really? I guess you didnt see the Burton game) - we are far from safe in the league, but if things dont improve soon then i cant see him being here much longer

For someone who is such a revolutionary on political issues, you're amazingly passive when it comes to your football team.

Sorry, but that comparison is totally inapt. Liverpool won 4 games in a row in December, have played some thrilling football at times this year, and are still 4th. Plus Klopp clearly cares, and generally has a rapport with the fans. So "Klopp Out" is pretty stupid, yes.

We, on the other hand, have only beaten Burton Albion since December 10th, have played s**t football pretty much all season, and are 14th. Plus Mazzarri gives every impression of just being here to pick up a pay cheque and can't even be a**ed to learn English. So, "Mazzarri out" is not stupid at all.

No, we can't win every game, in fact, we can't win any.

Just back myself and agreed i have not heard that for 40 years when i saw us lose at Northwich Victoria-which i think might be the last time we lost to a side two leagues below us in the FA Cup

I have nothing useful to add to the posts-bar that sadly having travelled in the hope we might win, i was not surprised when we lost-as KotK says WM had said how much he cares about this FA Cup match- in that he would make 11 changes if he could

Just another horrible display under a horrible manager who sticks religiously to a formation despite all the evidence that our players aren't best suited to it.

Horrible performances by several players who I find myself liking less every week. How many of our recent piecemeal signings will go down in the annals of time as club 'legends' in the way so many of their predessors have?

Another horrible day for injuries. Oh and we sign a new forward this week and he's suspended..fitting in well to the ethos this season of ill-discipline. And the other one we've signed this week is a wayward character and seen as a risk. And the one solid signing we've made this month and who must be desperate for game time sits on the bench today. Clueless.

Gino and his Dad have been wonderful for our club. They've got so much right and haven't been scared to act ruthlessly for the benefit of the club. I'm just stunned that owners who can remove the man who actually got us the holy grail of promotion, fire a coach after just two (unbeaten) games or dispense with QSF after he successfully fulfilled his brief last season etc etc can be so blinded with admiration for Mazzarri and not realise it's only going to end one way. We appointed him at least three years too late. He's had his peak as a coach and is clearly not adapting well to life here. I find nothing to like about him at all.

You know, you just know, we will lose on Tuesday and then Burnley will finally produce something on the road on Saturday. Dyche is waiting in the wings ready to have the last laugh. We've not beaten him yet since he was ruthlessly kicked out our club. My God we need some of that ruthlessness to be shown ourselves now too.

All the positivity has been sucked out of me by this horrible regime.

Yet another awful performance. We are only going one way with Mazarri - down. I do find it odd as the Pozzo's bought this club to get to the Prem. It was the be all and end all. With the way we are set up, and play under Mazzarri, that is in danger of all being destroyed. I would go as far as to say if we played any of the teams below us next week - we would lose. We are awful. Are the players not good enough? Are they simply not playing for Mazzarri? Or is it down to the way he coaches and wants us to play? In any case I don't think I've disliked a manager / coach as much since Bassett. I think we are in big trouble.

In terms of an incident taken out of context, that takes some beating. I can take being dumped out of the Cup by a side two leagues lower as an isolated event under any manager. I don't like it when it's just a further example of the insipid, charmless rubbish we've been watching for the great majority of the season and certainly for the past two months.
It may change, but right now we stink.

Agree with this 100%. I am one of his biggest supporters but given the team selection and the absolute spineless display he needs 3 points from the next 2 games. I've lost faith in him.

That said we have some absolute disinterested tw@ts in our squad though. Needs a decent clear out in the summer.
