Pros

Destro was the subject of intense transfer speculation during the summer of 2014, being heavily linked by the media with moves to Chelsea and Real Madrid.

On 15 August 2012, he made his debut with the Italian national team.

Cons

Destro struggled with injury during his first season at Roma, and these problems continued into the 2013–14 season.

Controversy followed the Cagliari game, during which Destro had punched defender Davide Astori but was not punished at the time by the referee. However, the league authorities later imposed a 3-match ban on Destro (which became four matches for accumulated yellow cards)

On 15 August 2012, he made his debut with the Italian national team. Italy lost 1–2 against England at Wembley. Destro was substituted for, ahem, Diego Fabbrini in the 84th minute.

 

Now this is a transfer I can believe is reliable because:

A) He is Italian
B) He is under the £10 Million price range
C) He has been injured for quite a period in his playing career
D) (Linked to C) which has led him to become a reject of one of the bigger clubs [i.e. Roma]

However, when he was under the limelight playing for Roma, he did score 24 in 57 (every 2.375) games which isn't a bad figure. Since then, he as played for Bologna side which is sitting at 15th in an arguably OAP league where he has only scored 15 in 52. Like Deeney however, that goal figure includes a number of penalties so if he were to join Watford, his goal numbers would already be on a slight down. That said, I don't exactly know how many of his goals were from penalties so I can't judge as of yet.

Anyways, I can't see why he wouldn't want to come here because I feel Watford are a level above Bologna in a pyramid of many levels, but is he really an improvement over Okaka or Deeney? I feel as if he will only come here to take up another position on the bench or cost Watford another 1st class plane ticket to Udinese.

Either way, Mazzarri says he has always liked this guy, and so far, the players he has brought in have been tremendous quality (at times) so I do have to give credit to Mazzarri for that.

 

Had heard his name before but didn't know anything about him. From last season's highlights at Bologna, he looks a lot more mobile than Deeney and Okaka. I'm in.

As Clive said, there has been intense speculation about him at times over the past few years, and I'd be quite excited if it turns out to be true.

I think, if nothing else, he would bring a mobility that neither Stefan O'Kaka nor the Troidini possess.

He's not a bad age either; obviously ready to play but won't increase the average age of our geriatric squad.

 

Could be being lined up as a direct replacement for Deeney.

 

My housemate follows Italian football and loves the guy so I'll bow to his superior knowledge.

Also we signed him on our FIFA career mode with Udinese and he's decent. Case closed.

Would be a very good signing for only £8.5m. Would fit a typical Pozzo signing and has all the attributes that we are lacking in ours forwards.

Is busy around the box and can run with the ball at his feet. Similar player to Zarate, but with more end product as his finishing is better.

Great personality, bubbly and cocky like Amrabat, and I think fans will take to him very quickly.

Fingers crossed on this one.

Nothing like Zarate from what I've seen. Good pace and a tidy finisher. People were screaming to pay more for Hogan. So for that price it would be a great signing.

I haven't kicked a football for two years and am now the wrong side of 30, but even I'd bring more mobility to the team than Deeney and Okaka. Honestly, looking at that video he looks no great shakes at all - he is certainly not a speed merchant, I reckon even Holebas or Capoue would both slightly edge him.

Like Amrabat?! Yeah sounds about right. Honestly I think he seems bang average and not a noticeable upgrade on what we've got. I'd be massively disappointed if this is our only striker signing in the summer. Doesn't seem that good even in the youtube highlights, crap scoring record in an inferior league in the last three seasons, despite taking penalties, and injury problems (having looked again, 4 of his 7 goals this season were penalties, and 7 of his 8 goals last season were penalties - horrendous).

He won't be pulling a Gabbiadini.
