And another one! Striker this time http://www.surreymirror.co.uk/Crystal-Palace-face-competition-Watford-West-Ham/story-26759746-detail/story.html
If even half of these rumours are correct, it appears our transfer strategy is somewhat blunderbuss like.
Surrey Mirror is a highly regarded paper. I believe them. Because I believe anything. Welcome Destro the Destroyer.
With these small rags being so busy throughout the transfer window, I thought I'd make them a template to allow them to churn out even more gossip: Watford, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Fulham have all been linked with [Insert foreign player name]. [Foreign name] has been impressing in [foreign division], and it's no wonder that Watford, Crystal Palace, West Ham and Fulham have sent scouts to look at the starlet. However, with such competition for his signature, I guess we are just going to have to wait to find out if any of these clubs, or other clubs, make a move, are even interested, have already made a move or perhaps have even already signed a signature with the lad. Yours, [site we had never heard of before Twitter/Newsnow]
These rumours are getting more ridiculous as each day passes, I welcome the rumours of Ballon D'or contestants within the next week.
A few sources saying that Roma have bid 4m for Hertaux. The only way I can see Destro coming here is on loan for a season as a makeweight in the Hertaux deal...
I think we're getting linked with anyone moving within Italy this summer. It's bonkers. Given we seem to have 'made enquiries' into all of them I'm starting to wonder if the Pozzos have bought a PPI automated cold calling machine and set it off calling every club in Italy. "Good afternoon. Have you ever considered releasing some equity from your squad? Is FFP getting you down? Do you have players in your squad you'd rather be rid of? Watford FC could be the answer you've been looking for. We have millions of pounds tied up in a Premier League holding account and, in return for unwanted, damaged or mentally broken players from your squad, we can release some of this cash to you. Please press 1 now if you want to speak to one of our Executive Acquisition Managers who will guide you through the process in your choice of three languages..."
So let's go back 6 or 7 months..... http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/410913/Roma-Mattia-Destro-Arsenal-Chelsea This isn't going to happen.
To be fair they will have a list of possibles for each position. It's far better to bid for several than miss out completely because someone changed their mind.
He was the player substituted for Fabbrini's first and so far only appearance for Italy. Incidentally, like Tozser, he has scored for his country against Malta!
Destro could be an immensely good player. If Norwich were actually close to getting him that's impressive. Obviously it makes no difference now but maybe it shows they are actually looking at some very good signings before the end of the transfer window.
Fail to sign Mattia Destro: "Ah well it was an ambitious move anyway, lets have a look at the Championship" Fail to sign Afobe: "OK so not the Championship. Surely there's a few experienced heads in the Premier League who would like to join?" Fail to sign Jonathan Walters: "OH FFS. **** OFF. Just sign Sordell or somebody. ANYBODY."
Norwich and Bournrmouth are going down because they haven't signed anyone decent . Brady is okay-ish and Gradel looked pretty average on Monday .
