Reported he'll join us with Mazzarri...oh god. "It lacks only the official, but in England gave all to the fact the marriage between Watford and Walter Mazzarri . Yesterday ds Salerno reached Verona to talk to Andrea D'Amico, near the former technical manager of Inter. The announcement should arrive early as the weekend, then will start as the technical invitations to some players: Andreolli one of first names." http://www.mondoudinese.it/watford-e-granada/watford-a-breve-lannuncio-di-mazzarri/
More known for breaking legs and knocking over Mancini than any football talent he has. Good in the air but that's it. There's a good reason his career appearances are so low.
I'm sure he's not that bad, it looks like he was a regular starter for Sevilla this season before his injury.
Seemed to be playing a bit for Sevilla before his season finished in November due to injury, according to wiki
I would hope that after our poor mid season transfer window that Gino will go back to having major say in which players come in. From what I gather I hope he puts a stop to this one if there is any truth to it
He was only starting at Sevilla due to injuries to Rami and Carrico which kept them out for the start of the season. I've seen him a couple of times and he's been terrible, which is why I'm not surprised at 30 next month he's got such a poor return in appearances. If he comes here I'll support him and hope he proves me wrong but Im not excited on the potential of him arriving.
From Wiki: On 27 July 2007 he signed with Roma on a co-ownership deal as part of the agreement that brought Cristian Chivu to Inter, he was tagged as €3M for half of the rights.[2] He spent the second half of the 2007–08 season on loan to Vicenza in Serie B. His transfer was later fully acquired by Roma during the 2008 summer transfer window, for free,[3][4] and Andreolli was subsequently loaned out to newly promoted Serie B side Sassuolo for the entire 2008–09 season in order to gain first team experience. On 22 October 2009, he scored a 94th-minute equaliser for Roma against Fulham in a UEFA Europa League group stage fixture. In the summer of 2010, Andreolli made his wish[citation needed] for more first team action known and was subsequently sold by Roma to Chievo on 24 August 2010. As he only had 1-year left in his contract, he was sold for €800,000.[5] On 24 January 2011, Inter bought back half of Andreolli's registration rights from Chievo, for €885,000. However, on 22 June he was sold back to Chievo for €500,000. In the same window, Michele Rigione joined Inter for €500,000 outright.[6] On 11 May 2013 it was announced, that Andreolli would move back to Inter on a free transfer.[7] He made his return debut on 3 November, playing the last 9 minutes of 3–0 away win against Udinese at Stadio Friuli.[8] On 18 May 2014, Andreolli scored his only goal of the season, opening a 2–1 loss away to Chievo.[9] On 31 August 2015, after totalling just 10 league appearances in two years at Inter, Andreolli moved abroad for the first time, being loaned to Spain's Sevilla for the upcoming campaign.[10] Due to injury to Adil Rami, he made his La Liga debut on 11 September, partnering Timothée Kolodziejczak in a 1–1 draw at Levante UD.[11] On 21 November, he tore his Achilles tendon in a 2–0 loss to Real Sociedad, putting him out for the rest of the season.[12] Doesn't seem to settle anywhere for too long. A dodgy period around 2013 when he bounced back and forth between Inter and Chievo a million times. Would seem a weird signing for the appearances and movements but has scored 7 goals in those appearances which isn't bad for a CB.
Could you imagine a new Head Coach coming in and signing a 29 year old mate of his? I imagine it'll be fine and the player won't turn out to be absolute dog shyte, on a highly paid contract that'll see him through to his early to mid 30s
He was never going to be first choice at Sevilla but he's not bad. If we're going to be playing 3 CB's we need the cover. He's a bit of a mixture between Prodl and Britos. Good in the air and decent use of the ball but not exceptional, lacks a bit of pace. Spent a lot of his career in a back 3 though, so has the understanding.
So basically he might be a slightly better version of Angella in that he's poor in our box but great in theirs?
Always difficult to tell what a player is like, but I like to think that Gino wont be blowing big wages on players like Suarez without better due diligence this time.
Great to see new managers attacking intent, a journeyman clogger with less than impressive cv Sent from my MotoG3 using Tapatalk
If true would be surprised purely going by very basic information on him as we already have 3 experienced first choice CBs would seem more suited to a younger option to come in & rotate. Unless of course he is preparing to play 3 at the back..
Any manager that comes in with a condition that we sign such and such player is not a head coach I want at my club. I would allow a new manager a say in transfer dealings arranged by club ownership, with more say over the Xmas window once he's got half a season under his belt. How is a non-premiership experienced manager, with no contact time with the team and only recorded matches to watch going to be able to make a considered judgment about what players are required? Recipe for disaster.
