I raise you with the 71/2 Kirby relegation….although I am also finding this season is resembling a straw on a camel’s back.
I notice with dread that the ball kids shirts and towels for the players are orange in Miami. The portents are not good.
For 90 minutes on Saturday hopefully most of this season can be forgotten and we will remember how to score goals. Long time since I've been to their cesspit of a ground, possibly when we won 2-1 and Young got sent off. Have we played there since apart from the game during Covid? Please god let us win even if we don't win another game for the rest of the season, just beat these *******
I think as long as don't lose by more than 3 goals, we can consider this season a success and a moral victory over Luton, whether or not they win promotion.
This Saturday will be the first time we’ve played them in front of a crowd for 17 years, so a big game for more reasons than one. So this kind of game is unprecedented for the Pozzos - during the first two seasons after they took over the Scum were still in the Conference!
I didn’t mention that because I figured going by Lloyd’s posts he’d be too young to remember it (looks like I was right) and I thought the comedy value of it would redeem it a bit, plus to put things in perspective it was Watford’s first relegation and still their third highest finish up to that point.
This is the first season where we'll end up finishing below them in a whopping 26 years. If we win on Saturday and they fail to go up, I will bask in the glow of a job well done on a sun-kissed beach in the Bahamas this summer. Obviously, that's after a mad rush to the airport as my pond-invading will make me run late for my flight.
Does anyone have any idea where they plan to drop travelling fans off on Saturday? I can't imagine Oak Road itself or the streets around it would be suitable for coaches. Hopefully we're not going to be left within 'bottle of pi55 throwing distance' of the Bedfordshire cavemen
Damn. It's impossible to break the encryption on their state of the art website. We and the police will literally have no idea what they are planning if they put full details on that public website. These geniuses are one step ahead of us as always.
Here's a little bit of nostalgia for you from simpler times: https://archive.teletextarchaeologist.org/Pages/Details/200607
What no "game called off due to travllers camping on the pitch" dissapointing. I shall go for a bore draw.
It's astounding really that we are playing Luton away in 3 days time and the match thread is only on page 2. It's a damning indictment of how much people have lost their connection with and love of the club under Pozzo over the last few years.
We must be roughly the same age. Seemed to be forever. Almost always Brian Stein breakaway goal or that snooker player...? Fred Davis?
I think we are all just trying to forget this is going to happen. Mods, can we move this to the secret hidden Politics section please ? Can we also block any new joiners to the forum for the next 10 days ? Thanks.
Bournemouth and Palace. There is no point in trying to pretend we have rivals in this league given our stay will be so short lived and we probably won't play them again for another 10 years. We might as well start counting Stevenage and MK Dons as our rivals if we are going to count Luton.
Palace can’t be our rivals, their stadium holds 3k more people, we need to pick a club of our size to be rivals with.
Yes but 3k is probably closest and they will just have to do. Maybe Brentford too. Given we should of course consider ourselves to be a premier league side going through a temporary blip because of these bloody Pozzos, rather than a championship club at the end of a golden era.
We can’t have Brentford as our rival either, they’re a small London based club with an insect in their logo, a 19k capacity stadium and have traditionally competed in the lower half of the football league, we’re nothing like them.
Haha, some people still think we have a divine right to be a PL club! No wonder the toys are out the pram every week
That's where we should be, and will be again when the Pozzos move on. Just like Brentford. We have no excuse to have one similar sized club above us in the pyramid.
