As suggested by someone in the Transfers section, a thread to try and keep track of the seemingly hundreds of young players we apparently now own and have loaned all around the world. Oh, and the unwanted senior players when they get shunted out the door nearer the end of the window... So far confirmed on loan we have: Williams Velazquez - Venezuelan - Udinese (Serie A) Juan Camilo Hernandez - Colombian - Huesca (Segunda Division) Sulayman Marreh - Gambian - Valladolid (Segunda Division) Matheus Aias - Brazilian - Fuenlabrada (Segunda B) Dennon Lewis - Crawley Town (Div 2) Signed but whereabouts currently unknown: Jorge Segura - Colombian - loan tbc but likely to be in Italy according to reports from Colombia Jaime Alvarado - Colombian Eduardo Montenegro Zuniga - Colombian Juan Camilo Becerra Maya - Colombian Uche Agbo - Nigerian Pervis Estupinan - Ecuadorian Adalberto Penaranda - Venezuelan
Update on Uche Agbo - unlikely to join us this season as work permit turned down: http://scorenigeria.com.ng/2017/07/10/exclusive-why-eagles-ace-uche-agbo-cannot-play-for-watford/
It looks as if the Pozzo's are trying to purchase every young Colombian footballer alive in attempt to find the occassional national gem. Knowing our luck, the Pozzo's will do just that bar the one kid with an amputated leg and permanent blindness in one eye who will end up being the only one to become any good...
If the stated aim of our transfer policy is to boost the fortunes of a scattered selection of Segunda and League 1 teams with our loanees, then the Pozzos have ******* smashed it.
You'll be sorry when our starting 11 is identical to the Colombian national team. Clever tactic really. Not only will they really know each other well and share the same culture/ upbringing, they'll also always play in yellow. Can't wait to win the World Cup.
Great work SLB. Our development/U21 wiki page needs a wholesale update based on the new faces this summer.
Conflicting reports on this one. Waiting for confirmation as some are saying he has joined on a 3 year permanent deal.
According to the below link Pervis Estupiñan is at Udinese at the moment as an u21 player. Possibly of more interest is that Udinese have a player on their books called Kevin Lasagne. Don't know anything about him but think we should sign him just for his name. https://m.tuttomercatoweb.com/serie...ret-jankto-le-big-sugli-u21-bianconeri-992812
Decent article from the Observer with short profiles of some of our South American youngsters. Four of them have gone to Real Valladolid for the season in the Segunda Divsion. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp...American_youngsters_depart_for_the_continent/ I would have edited the OP to make the list at the top of the thread up to date but for some reason I can edit this post but not the older ones. Go figure. Luis Suarez is the only new name for the loanees but it also seems like Uche Agbo has gone on a permanent transfer.
I would love to see MOTD reporters creating a ridiculous way of pronouncing Lasagne. Jonathan Pearce would probably give it 6 syllables.
An updated list of our loanees below, 13 in total so far: 5 Colombians, 2 Venezuelans, 1 Brazilian, 1 Gambian, 1 Ghanaian, 1 Ecuadorian, 2 English. Of the six sent to our new feeder club Real Valladolid, only one (Marreh) has been included in the first team squad - the rest are all due to play in the B team. Will be interesting to see if any can get promoted to the first team during the season though. Dennon Lewis is the most likely to ever actually play for us, probably as an 88th min sub in a Second Round League Cup defeat to lower league opposition. In sunny Spain Adalberto Penaranda - Venezuelan - Malaga (La Liga) - injured Juan Camilo Hernandez - Colombian - Huesca (Segunda Division) Sulayman Marreh - Gambian - Valladolid (Segunda Division) Pervis Estupinan - Ecuadorian - Almeria (Segunda Division) Jorge Segura - Colombian - Valladolid B (Segunda B) Jaime Alvarado - Colombian - Valladolid B (Segunda B) Eduardo Montenegro - Colombian - Valladolid B (Segunda B) Juan Camilo Becerra - Colombian - Valladolid B (Segunda B) Williams Velasquez - Venezuelan - Valladolid B (Segunda B) Matheus Aias - Brazilian - Fuenlabrada (Segunda B) Kingsley Fobi - Ghanaian - Formentera (Tercera Division) Domestic Loans Dennon Lewis - English - Crawley Town (Div 2) Sam Howes - English - Hampton & Richmond (National League South)
Another little snippet I heard is that the youth coaches really rate Eletheriou ( wrong spelling I know ). Speak very highly of him because of his attitude and willingness to learn . Someone else I know who is neighbours with Mariappa reports he said similar things whilst saying that Mason and Dion Pereyra don't want to listen to what you tell them . EDIT oops meant to put this in the development squad thread , but still mildly relevant to this thread .
Depends on what the coaches are telling them to do. If they were instructing them to lick the tip of a log sized sh!t in the changing room toilets, I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were to rebel. On top of that, Eletheriou might be one of those who always falls for peer pressure (hence the comments from the youth coaches)
Brazillian Matheus Santana has joined UCAM Murcia on loan. He's another one of the Granada who's had his registration transferred to us.
Hard to find out much about him as there appears to be a very popular Brazilian swimmer with the same name, whose articles drown out our boy's on Google. Did find an article in the local Murcia press calling him the "Jewel of Watford", which was a bit surprising as I always thought that was the Harlequin/Intu Centre. Apparently he only landed in Granada from Brazil in January, played all the games for Granada B in the second half of the season and is an attacking midfielder with good vision and ability on the ball. Looks like he'll be going into their first team squad, so should be playing in the Segunda Division. #willneverplayforus Oulare has also gone out on loan to Antwerp for a season in the Belgian top division.
It was reported as loan until the end of 16/17 with an option to make the move permanent. Has he gone?
