I believe you're right, I had it in my head that it was longer than a half-season. Can't find anything to indicate where he is at the moment though, I don't think he's with us as he hasn't appeared in any club media this summer. All my Google News searches keep coming up with news stories about the January loan move and some guy with the same name who runs a tapas bar in Pennsylvania.

I assume they didn't buy him and we don't want him so he's in limbo until someone takes him off our hands.

Oulare played his third game for Antwerp today as they lost 3-5 at home to Genk. No goals so far for Oulare but a decent assist in today's game (skip to 3.15 on the video).

First full weekend for our loan players as the Spanish season gets underway. Here's what's happened so far:

Obbi Oulare played again without scoring for Antwerp as they won 2-1 at Mechelen. He's still apparently fading during games and both his side's goals came after he was subbed. 4 games, 0 goals so far.

Juan Camilo "Cucho" Hernandez played the full game as Huesca lost to Numancia in the Segunda Division. He had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offside and was voted his team's Man of Match.

None of our loanees played for the Real Valladolid first team, with Sulayman Marreh a surprise omission after featuring heavily in pre season.

Several did play for Valladolid B in the Segunda B, as they drew 1-1 with Union Adarve. Juan Camilo Becerra scored on his debut, continuing where he left off last season. A reminder that he was top scorer in Colombia's academy league with 40 odd goals a couple of seasons ago, arrived in Granada midway through last season and was then top scorer for their academy team with 16 goals. Williams Velázquez, Jaime Alvarado and Luis Suarez all started and Eduardo Montenegro came off the bench.

Dennon Lewis was an unused sub for Crawley as they lost 1-0 to Cambridge and young goalkeeper Sam Howe didn't feature for Hampton and Richmond.

Still to play this weekend: Pervis Estupinan for Almeria, Kingsley Fobi for Formentera and Matheus Aias for Fuenlabrada.

Finally, it seems that Penaranda might not be named in Malaga's squad for the first half of the season, leaving him in limbo when he's recovered from his surgery in the next couple of months...

Thanks for doing this, it's great to read up on how they are doing, plus get to know a little bit about some of the players we have that I wouldn't even be able to tell you their names!

Stop press! In an about turn, the Malaga coach was asked about Peñaranda at a press conference today and said that he's recovered quicker than expected from his surgery and is already back in training. They've not been able to bring in other forwards that they were after so he will most likely be named in their squad and given an opportunity to earn a place in the team.

Obbi Oulare was injured this week so didn't play.

Sulayman Marreh travelled with the squad with Real Valladolid but didn't make the bench. Only two of our loanees (Luis Suarez and Eduardo Montenegro) played in Valladolid B's fixture where they got hammered 6-2. Suarez did at least score the opening goal.

Matheus Aias made his debut as a very late sub for Fuenlabrada as they won 1-0.
Dennon Lewis also came on late as Harry Kewell masterminded a rare win for Crawley, 3-0 at Swindon. Pervis Estupiñan didn't make the squad for Almeria's 1-1 draw with Oviedo.

Kingsley Fobi is yet to make his debut for Formentera - he was ruled out of the first game as he hadn't been registered in time with the league. Seems a bit amateurish all round as the club also forgot to register their own coaching staff so none of them could attend their first game either! He's now available for selection but didn't make the squad this weekend.

Adalberto Peñaranda continues his recovery from injury and should be available within the next couple of weeks for Malaga.

Sam Howes returned between the sticks for Hampton and Richmond and conceded a last minute goal as they lost 1-0 to Havant and Waterloo in the Vanarama National League South.

Dimitri Foulquier was signed too late to feature for Strasbourg in Ligue 1 this weekend.

So... a definitive list (I think). Surprised that more of our young home grown players didn't go out on loan to lower division clubs, but having said that most of them hardly played last year when they were loaned out. Special prize for anyone who can track down the whereabouts of Strahinja Karisic, a 20 year old Serbian attacking midfielder last seen at Granada B but who has been named as an u21 player in our squad list.

No but he's got rid of his peroxide blonde hair and is edging closer to full fitness. Here's some footage of him doing some running with another one of Malaga's injured players, the fantastically named Juankar.

The vast majority of our loan players don't seem to be playing at the moment.

Cucho Hernandez got a goal and an assist at the weekend though, meaning he's scored two in five in the Segunda Division now and has also had two goals ruled out incorrectly for offside.

    An update on our loans...

Senior Loans at top division clubs

Pantilimon played his third full game in a row as Deportivo lost 4-1 to Quique Sanchez Bores and Jurado's Espanyol. At least he's getting first team football and he has managed to keep one clean sheet in his three outings, even if his team is in the relegation zone.

Penaranda finally returned to full training with Malaga this week but didn't play this weekend. Amrabat came on as a late sub for the third game in a row for Leganes as they won 2-0 at Las Palmas.

Dimitri Foulquier hasn't even made the bench yet for Strasbourg and their fans seem a bit bemused as they don't know whether he's injured or not.

Oulare's still injured, been out for over five weeks now.

    U21 Loans

    Segunda Division:

Sulayman Marreh (centre back/midfielder) has only played twice for Valladolid, both times in the Copa del Rey and got himself booked in both games. He's not even made the bench in the league. Valladolid lost 1-0 to Huesca this week, with Cucho Hernandez (striker) playing the whole game. He's another one who loves a booking, he's picked up four in six games to go with his two goals. Pervis Estupinan (left back) came on as a sub for Almeria as they won 3-0 and is yet to start a league game.

    Segunda B:

We've got six players on loan with Real Valladolid B, who haven't won any of their six games this season:
Williams Velasquez (centre back) has played five times and received three bookings.
Jorge Segura (centre back) has played three times and score a goal.
Jaime Alvarado (centre midfielder) played once at the start of the season, got booked, hasn't played since.
Eduardo Montenegro (midfielder) has started once and made three sub appearances.
Luis Suarez (forward) has started five games, got booked three times and scored once.
Juan Becerra (forward) scored on his debut in the first game of the season and hasn't played since.

Matheus Aias (forward) is playing regularly (three starts, three sub appearances) for unbeaten Fuenlabrada. He hasn't scored yet.
Matheus Santana (midfielder) has made a couple of sub appearances for UCAM Murcia
Kingsley Fobi (centre back) has broken into the Formentera team and has played every minute of their last three league and two cup games, scoring a goal in the cup.

    Brazil

Strahinja Karisic (attacking midfielder) is in Fluminense's u20 squad. Can't find out anymore than that.

    Domestic

Dennon Lewis (winger) has only made one start for Harry Kewell at Crawley Town, where he got subbed off at half time and hasn't played since.
Sam Howes (keeper) is playing regularly for Hampton and Richmond, making 12 starts already this season.

Another goal for Cucho Hernandez in La Segunda Division as Huesca won 2-1 against Rayo Vallecano - three in seven now and two incorrectly ruled out for offside. This boy is a serious goalscorer, only 18 years old and has already scored 30 times in senior football in Colombia and Spain. Certainly looks like the hottest prospect out of all our loanees.

Got an assist as well. Been reading up on him because for the past two weeks hearing people talk about him a lot, especially fans of teams in the la liga segunda. He is making some big waves out in Spain. Some Columbian fans getting carried away, but they are making comparisons of him and James Rodriguez at his age. Will be interesting to see how he develops. For a RW scoring 3 goals and getting 2 assists at 18 in 7 games is impressive.

Obbi Oulare is finally back playing and it's only taken him 18 minutes to get on the score sheet. Quite a good goal too, certainly the most he's ever actually looked like a professional footballer:

A reasonably busy weekend for our loanees - in addition to the welcome return of Oulare, Penaranda made his first start of the season, playing the full 90 minutes as Malaga lost 2-0 at home to Nordin Amrabat's Leganes. Amrabat made his first start of his loan spell, playing as a lone striker - maybe Quique was right all along! Pantilimon was an unused sub for Deportivo this weekend.

Strasbourg are in action at the moment and mystery man Dimitri Foulquier has popped up on their bench for the first time since he's been loaned there. They're currently losing 1-0 to Marseille.

Cucho Hernandez played almost the whole game as Huesca drew 1-1 away at Gijon. A rare game where he didn't score or assist.
Pervis Estupinan came on as sub as Almeria drew 1-1 with Valladolid. Also coming on as sub for Almeria was ex-Watford legend Marco Motta. Sulayman Marreh didn't get in Valladolid's squad and he still hasn't played a minute of league football.

Real Valladolid B and their massed ranks of South American Watford loanees remain rooted to the bottom of their table, although they did manage to win for the first time this season. Of our players there, Luis Suarez and Jorge Segura started, Juan Becerra and Jaime Alvarado came on as subs, and Williams Velasquez was an unused sub.

Kingsley Fobi wasn't selected for Formentera this week, neither was Matheus Aias for Fuenlabrada nor Matheus Santana for Murcia.

Dennon Lewis played the full game as Crawley drew 0-0 with Grimsby. Sam Howes played in goal as Hampton & Richmond (nicknamed The Beavers) were knocked out of the FA Cup in some sort of qualifying round by Truro City.

Strahinja Karisic is presumably still on loan with Fluminense but can't find any mention of him whatsoever since his loan signing was announced in September.

If anyone's interested, I've seen every Granada game this season, and I was at the Barca b game. The Estadio Los Cármenes is a really, really nice stadium, and piss easy to get to from Almunecar where I was staying. I reckon Granada are one of the best teams (on paper) in the league, but they look recondite from one another and will need time to gel. Adrian Ramos is the best player in the league by a mile, but is out till December, and his 'little' partner Joselu has taken a while to get going.

I could see them finishing just outside the playoff places. We may not be majority owners anymore, but it's a decent standard of football and we have players who would benefit from a loan spell. Maybe even Tommy H after christmas.

No time for a full weekend review this week but Pantilimon continued not playing, Penaranda played 72 mins against Barcelona in a number 10 position, and there was an assist for Amrabat as Leganes won 1-0 vs Athletic Bilbao and moved up to the heady heights of 5th in La Liga. Amrabat's "assist" involved him winning a tackle on the halfway line that broke to a team mate who beat two defenders and smashed it in the top corner. He did win his second supporters' MOTM award in a row though so looks like he's settled in well.

Oulare played but didn't score and Dimitri Foulquier finally made his debut for Strasbourg, coming on as a sub for the final 16 mins as they won 2-1 at Nice to climb out of the relegation zone.
