From a tweet on the WDSport. Apparently at Portuguese Airport to conduct medical at 3.30? Strange if true So, we play him consistently last season despite being mediocre and off the pace . Shows some promise this season with a couple of decent displays , and we ship him out. Am struggling to maintain my happy clappy sensibilities, especially if Vydra goes and his replacement is worse. Thank god there's no Abdi rumours emerging
I suppose its all about the fee with the Pozzo's. If its a good fee I can see why they are letting him go.
@TotalDutchFB: Mexican playmaker Jesus Manuel Corona set to leave #FCTwente and join #FCPorto. Corona has arrived in Portugal and will undergo a medical. Are there some horrendously crossed wires here or maybe Porto are just stocking up on Mexicans?
Wouldn't waste your breath, that person reacted to Layun being in the line up against Everton by calling him a 'sh!tbag' I believe. Shows you what a charming person they are.
He has been disappointing , but thought he d shown some signs of coming good this season. Reading the FF interview about leaving has left me feeling sentimental I guess. As said, if he's making way for a quality replacement then good move I guess.
He's not good enough and likely never will be. I wish him all the best but I couldn't be any less bothered about him leaving. We need a higher standard of player.
I guess it's a case of looking at the permitted overseas players and doing so position by position.. 2 overseas keepers, 2 overseas central defenders (assuming Angella/Belks leave), 2 overseas full-backs (assuming Paredes leaves), 2 overseas defensive midfielders, 4 creative mids (Abdi, Jurado, Diamanti, Berghuis) and 2 strikers (hoping Vydra stays).. That allows 3 new overseas signings..or 2 should Angella stay.. So to arrive at that figure, somebody like Layun was always going to be 'in the firing line', especially if an offer came in? Have I omitted anybody in error?
Lol never lost a match in which he's scored! Mind you, same goes for Gomes, Arlauskis, Paredes, Nyom, Capoue etc etc!
Officially gone to Porto. Another player we reassured we wanted long-term, allowed family to settle, and discarded, emotionless, at the last minute. Irrelevant whether he was good enough, we're not treating people well IMO.
I mean, he was far from our best player but it's still strange to see him leave now after he's made a decent start to the season. I have to say I'm rather more anxious about such a big turnover of players than I was a few weeks ago. Of course I trust the Pozzos but I've seen from previous seasons (13/14) that they're not infallible. Let's just hope this isn't a big mistake. Still 100% behind them however.
Was never a big fan of him but I am strangely sad to see him in another teams shirt. I think it must be because he's such a nice guy and I don't think it's fair how he was treated.
Odd to see him leave, as I thought he was starting to improve as he settled and got up to speed. Still, wish him the best of luck at Porto. P.S. with Pudil and Nando at Sheff Wed, Angella at QPR and Layun at Porto, what is our obsession with selling to teams in blue and white stripes?
Good luck to him. I think he would have been solid against the better teams as a defensive winger but we certainly could sign a more dangerous replacement; which we still need to do despite making 12 signings.
I can see the potential issues with such a high turnover of players and it might have been an issue if we hadn't have changed coaches. It's a fresh start though, Quique wants a team in his own image, he wouldn't have known any of the players when he joined so I don't think the changes to the squad have a great deal of significance. Better to get all the chopping and changing done in this window, give Quique the tools he needs and now we've got all season to make it work.
Maybe he wanted to go? Not settled and dropped after the first 2 games.. Plus gets the chance of Champions league football
Thats what i`m saying , all this nonsense about mistreating the man , you can bet the minute he heard of Portos interest , he was packing his bags and grabbing the car keys
