I’ve just heard the terrible news that Kev has died in Venice on his way to the San Marino England match. Another hard core Watford fan who will be missed by many of us who have been going home and away since the early 70s. If you went to the most far distant game you always knew that Kev would be there, he was a brilliant organiser and known by so many at WFC. We had so many Watford away trips together. I can’t believe only last Sunday we were in the Euston Flyer on the way back from Arsenal arranging the Brentford trip. So sad that another big Watford character has been lost way too early. RIP mate.
Terrible news. Any fairly regular away follower would have known Kev. As I posted elsewhere, I don't think I ever went to an away game where I didn't see him. A genuinely friendly guy and I'm sure will be missed by many. RIP
RIP Kev. Known Kev since school days and always bumped into him at away games, most recently at Everton. Very sad news.
Terrible news...I recall one particularly memorable away trip to Cardiff in the old Div 2 in 1980/1 season....crap game & we lost 1-0 but the pre- and post-match was 'interesting'.
I have been told what happened but can't be certain of the facts so won't go in to it. Suffice to say it sounds like a tragic accident
This is really very sad news. I heard this morning and like K GT I am aware of some of the "facts" but out of respect for a guy I have known for over 40 years I also don't want to post them. He was a permanent fixture at our home and away games and he was out following England like he has always done (and with 2 other Watford fans). It is quite difficult to think of not bumping into him ever again. There are fans and there are fans and I know being a supporter is not all about attending games but he really was somebody quite different who cared for and supported our club in a very tangible and visible way. I do hope that some recognition of this is made by the club. RIP Kev.
If you did not know him I am sure you would recognise him, he was what being a football fan was all about, he would moan about the team, players owners and managers but would still be at every away trip no matter where and when. After France 2016 he said that was it for him and England no more, he told me 100% he was not going to Russia, who do I bump outside the hotel In Russia the day after we beat Sweden in the quarter final, it was great to see him there, it would have been a shame for such a great Fan and Man miss such a great tournament. There are fellow fans you are all happy to bump into at away trips and ones that you hope don't spot you, he is one that I was always happy to bump into. Thoughts and wishes with your Family Kev, Hornet through and through and Loyal Lion RIP
Absolutely tragic news. Have travelled far and wide with him on England duty and been pleased to host you lot with him on the days we’ve shared. He’d arranged to join us for a few beers in Blackpool in the New Year and see how things are going now we’ve got our club back. Our phones haven’t stopped today and there’ll be many other clubs saying the same up and down the country. He was one of the proper ones. Deepest condolences to all you who knew him, from Blackpool.
Was totally shocked to hear this awful news earlier today. Won’t be the same not seeing him in the SEJ stand and bumping into him for a chat at away games. The comments from many here and on the England Fans group are testament to a real decent football lad. RIP Hornet
I met Kev several times via my partner at games, but he was a big part of a core group of long standing friends and supporters. It’s difficult to say the right thing at times like these, but he was an interesting bloke to be around and my hugs go out to all his family and friends. Sleep well, Kev ❤️
What a mixed day of emotions today. A fitting send off for Kev before the match with Luther comforting friends and family, what a classy guy he is. The 60mins applause was lovely and the team performance was the best in quite a while. Kev would be proud.
Late to this, hadn't seen Kev in a few years, but always came across as a top bloke. RIP and well done to Watford FC and Luther for the respect today
After todays result it looks like we have now got a man up there who has already got the ear of the big man himself, well done Kev and keep it up
Not been online for many weeks so only just seen this news. RIP Kev Can't say I knew Kev well like many here, was on "nodding" terms only really. More after the dramatic hairstyle change than before! Did share a few beers on pre-season friendly tours such as the one in South Tyrol during GFZ's reign. A good yarn about that trip to tell but not one for social media. My condolences to all those who knew him well for your loss.
Didn't know about that one at all, even had to look up South Tyrol having forgotten it's not in the UK! Was he one of those ultra-dedicated fans who goes to every Watford game, be it friendly, minor cup game etc? Did he go to a lot of England games as well? It's a shame I never even heard of him let alone met him as I would've loved to hear what it was like being one of the (I imagine) few hundred who travelled to Levski Spartak, the scene of one of Watford's greatest triumphs (their only away win in Europe) back in the days when Bulgaria was heavily controlled by communism and I'd think a largely hostile and not very touristy place to go to.
The fa and the travel club are paying tribute to Kev on Saturday at the England game. He was a much as an England Fan as he was a Hornet, hats of to the FA for this.
Not sure how to post it on here but Nigel Gibbs posted something about the tribute to Kev yesterday on his twitter account, what a legend.
