Can we end his loan early? Maybe ‘accidentally’ put him in the same crate as Hause when we return him next week?
Can't blame him for today, he was everywhere today (apart from the box, but I think that was as much down to him having to feed off scraps than anything)
It's a weird one, because he can display some pretty decent feet to resist a press and progress the ball up the pitch, but he's also rather adept at blootering it straight out for a throw in or just failing to control it when it comes into him entirely.
I thought Davis was one of the few to put in a half decent performance given some of the woeful performances offered by others, notably our 2 full backs 'dumb and dumber'. Ngakia just looks frightened to be involved, Kamara is merely brainless in an over-confident way.
Thought he was probably our best outfield player but that isn’t a particularly high bar. I think he looks fitter than before the world cup
Has serious physical issues. Barely moves or presses ever yet manages to gas out after a half every game.
We seem to suck all the energy, enthusiasm and speed out of players and managers alike. It's like the walking dead out there.
Completely disinterested. Paid through the nose for this pair of wasters from Villa. Better hope we don't get promoted
He's total rubbish. Were all those forest fans just on an elaborate wind up? Because it worked with me, I've never been more excited to see a player play for us before, which has made the crushing disappointment of his turdness even more unbearable. I don't mind opposition fans calling us shyt, I don't mind them thumping us in the backstreets at away matches, but this new psychological hooliganism is a step too far.
It’s the Forest fans angle that confuses me the most too. Maybe their brains were addled after two decades out of the limelight?
He seemed to do well for them but even then didn’t get many goals and well Forest kept Sam Sturridge rather than sign Davis.
The benefit of prem cash would make that pale into insignificance….ish. Would eat into the funds we’d have to strengthen, assuming we’d bother !
It's a function of the midfield. Where are they ? Where were they ? If you cannot control midfield precious little hope for Davis or Araujo. He's not been helped by injuries either. But he cannot have suddenly regressed from the player he was with at Nottingham Forest in a season. It's a function of the team as a whole and midfield. Bloody awful.
I don't disagree that he needs better service, but what good is a striker if he can only perform when everything is where he wants it? He can't win headers and doesn't fancy chasing the ball, so he's utterly useless to us
Exactly. I’ve been banging on about the midfield issues all season, and until now it’s been largely overlooked. In this window we’ve signed a kid with little experience and a washed out never been. That’s just not good enough. Louza is superb and we look a completely different team with him in the side, but we cannot rely on just him. It’s this lack of understanding by the club where our problems lie which will cost us promotion. We just cannot compete against the top half clubs, or teams in form when we play them, with the midfield we are currently using. Davis is a good player, but he’s good at one thing. Receiving the ball under pressure and turning quickly. That’s his game. You have to play to that strength to get the best out of him. Our midfield is incapable of playing him in. We’re off the pace, slow to control the ball and spot a pass. Only Louza can receive the ball, control it first time and know where to pass it all in one movement. All the others in that position cannot do this. The entire side suffers because of the midfield inefficiencies. Bilic becomes a bad manager, defenders are bad players, strikers are bad players etc. It’s so frustrating as the fix is so obvious, but those making the decisions at the top cannot see it.
Absolutely. The unpopular players are labelled as crap. The popular players are given an excuse. Davis gets no service, Sarr gets no service…these are supposedly big game talented players, yet we can only expect them to deliver when it’s put on a plate for them.
I appreciate that you can’t expect Davis to magic something out of nothing rely solely on individual quality, but off the ball his and Sarr’s contributions effectively have us down to 9 men. Defence and midfield are over run time and time again. The amount of times Deeney used to sprint to challenge defenders, even if it was a lost cause he never gave them a second to dwell and think. Sarr and Davis should be hunting like a pack, they both have the pace and the ability, but application is lacking and I believe the real reason is they both think they are better than being at Watford and deserve better. However all it’s really doing is showing other prospective teams that they are not worth a w a n k
He’s really good and we use him really badly. Got to get the ball into his feet quickly. Was superb at Norwich before getting injured. Analysis above about the midfield sums it up, the rest of the team is horribly let down.
Even when used properly, he's incredibly profligate. He is not a natural finisher at all, and has a habit of waiting far too long to actually take the chances that fall for him. It's exactly why he's absolutely never going to be a Premier League player. If you can't take half chances or live off limited service then you have no chance of scoring goals at the highest level
An unfit, one legged Deeney made 19 appearances in our last Championship campaign and scored 7. An unfit Davis has made 19 appearances so far this season and scored 4.
